Holy acorns

This year is tough.....The corn and bean fields are still up by me (200-300 acres) and there are acorns everywhere. Tough to locate deer as they have a ton of places to hide and don't have to move far for food. Once they cut the AG fields things should get a little easier. Benefit though is they have a lot of food to fatten up this year and hopefully they heard can rebound pretty good from the past two tough winters.

The deer are loving them my way. I'll be putting a ladder stand in the middle of the patch come gun season. Food will be harder to find and the acorns will be plentiful still.

Won't they be gone in a couple weeks? Around me they drop and get mowed up and are gone long before gun season.

Hickory nuts and apples I see still but not oak acorns. And my local deer don't seem to prefer hickory nuts. I see them standing in them eating leaves of bushes and saplings ignoring the nuts.
