A bit late to this post....We recently moved near the fingerlakes, so new fishing waters to explore. I think probably hiring a guide is the easiest...and possibly in the long run cheapest...way to learn new techniques, know how. Last year when we were driving around, I spent a very pleasant half hour chatting with a guide who had just finished up for the day on Cayuga. He was very friendly, outgoing, excited about his job and sharing information. What I look for. I have met many guides who hardly wanted to say a word unless you had money in your hand. I hope we can get out with him.

I have seen a lot of turkey buzzards in fields where combines have gone thru, in Niagara/Orleans County. I assume some fawns may have been victims of the combines.

Saw my first on the way to Hornell yesterday. was't mangled just laying dead in the middle of the road. You may think I'm crazy but I stoped and threw it in the weeds on the side of the road. I totally made sure no traffic was coming. Call me crazy I know. lol

256 Win Mag Levermatic Has A Stablemate
airedale replied to airedale's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Ran off a few cartridges this afternoon to get this barrel sighted in, it is wearing a Nikon 2X7 scope. Shot a few lead Missouri Bullets that duplicate the old 25-20 load and was disappointed in their accuracy. I then tried some full power loads firing the Sierra 90 gr HPs and like the model 62 Levermatic they were grouping ragged holes like they do in just about every gun I have tried them in. I have yet to fire the Barnes 80 gr copper, I will give those a shot when I get a chance. The mosquitoes just about ate me alive out there. Al -
Much harder being a kid today than it was for me back in the 60's.-70's. I agree that social media plays a big part on the kids of today. Not all good for sure.

Yes all flooding.

Hammondsport got hit too. I guess I got lucky and it went around us. We had a short gusher but no flooding.

Definitely plays a big part in it for sure. Now bullying does not just happen at school now it's constant 24/7 through social media. I also think parents put a lot of pressure on kids now a days with sports/activities 7 days a week. There's no time to just be a kid anymore. The covid lockdown BS has played a role in certain age groups as well. They where thrust into an insane time line and many have come out with severe anxiety because of it. If the parents handled it poorly you can bet the kids are a mess. Imagine being young and being told that you cant see grandma or grandpa because you might get them sick and they might die. I know adults that where telling there children this. Insane.
