  1. Anybody ever shoot a deer with porcupine quills in them? I shot a buck opening day in Delaware County that had porcupine quills stuck in his forehead. Don't know what he was thinking messing with a porcupine.
  2. Leupold scopes are great. Depends on you price range. Fixed or variable power? Objective size, etc? I have 4-5 leupolds that range from $300-$1200.
  3. Mckenzie taxidermy supply. Stuff I've used look really realistic.
  4. Welcome BRMee, Don't beat yourself up over it. Coulda, shoulda, woulda, is not going to help anything. Give the DEC the benefit of the doubt, probably a good reason, they maybe just couldn't tell you. It's very apparent you care about raising you kid the right way and I believe you did the right thing. Sometimes things just don't work out. I hope you and your family shoot monster bucks and fill your freezer after that. You deserve it. Good luck!
  5. Gun hunting since 1987 and bow hunting since 1989. None lost with a gun which is a combination of rifle, pistol, shotgun. 2 lost with a bow. First one was a really nice buck that was flehming when I shot him. Right when mechanical broadheads first came out and had a total lack of broadside penetration, also too light looking back now. Tracked him a long long way. Second was a nice 8, 20 yards broadside and complete pass though. I swear I hit that deer in no mans land, even though some don't think it exists. Arrow had almost no blood and was coating with a waxing substance. No blood trail. I'm sure that deer survived another day.
  6. That's a beautiful buck, why the puss on his face???
  7. I guess it depends on what you think is filthy rich. Have you seen his house in the Hamptons, probably 2 million, or his ranch in Colorado? He got his money from his Daddy. They are in the airline business. I know a lot about him because he is from my area. I could say a lot but don't want to kick him when he's down so I'll leave it at that.
  8. I think I see a tag wrapped on the antler where his right hand is.
  9. Really? I never heard that. Nice mount G-man.
  10. Can't help but to think about what that spiker would have looked like in a few years. Cool deer.
  11. Well, call me cruel because I LMAO!
  12. Cool vids Bellmore. Tell Frankie, aka boots, Pete says hello.
  13. Heck of a first deer. Smile says it all.
  14. Maybe the victim should have had some orange on but I don't think he was at fault at all. 100% the shooter. A person wearing camo or whatever doesn't look like a deer whatsoever. Just shooting at a moving object and not identifying the target and picking a spot on the deer. Unbelievable.
  15. Always blows my mind. How can you mistake a person for a deer or turkey?? Pure stupidity.
  16. What about Long Island??
  17. That is a beautiful muley. Can't wait to get one.
  18. I give up WNY. I going to see the eye doctor....
  19. LOL, yes, only 40 or 50. I was being sarcastic with that post. I know the area you are referring.
  20. If the arrow hit where you put the red dot, he would have been spine shot. Unless I need glasses. I am getting old. So, if he didn't get hit in the spine and he didn't get hit in the lungs, both would have been fatal, then what mythical place is in between there that is non lethal?
  21. Thanks, I'll check that out. Good luck on your hunt.
  22. So tough to tell from the pic. Definetly too far foward and too high, but I really don't think that shot is above the spine.
