I've used the quickspin and the new bohning blazer quick fletch. I shoot a whisker biscuit and have not had a problem at all. I shoot all the time too.

It's been done a few times. I think mythbusters and field and stream did another. The person was found very easily.

That's great. Unit 4O here.

I've been saying it for months. I go all the time. Art is a great guy and the set up is very realistic. No better practice than that. I recommend it to everyone. -

A lot of different counties were represented, but I thought more came from western NY than anywhere else. -

Yeah, 2010 was one heck of a season. I wonder if 2011 will compare. Nice to meet you too Joe, much better to put a face with a screen name. -
2011 NYBBC Awards Banquet

Yes, I was there yesterday too. 5 1/2 hour drive to get there. Had a great time. Incredible deer. To top it off, I won the 50/50, $639. That paid for my mount and then some. Joe did a great job on the mic. Some of those stories were hysterical. -
Here's my girl, a retrieving machine.

Thanks. No, I didn't swab between shots. Should I be? It did it the very first time I tried to shoot it and maybe the 3rd or 4th time. I only shot it 6-7 times. I gave it a good cleaning last night. I'll try it out again next time I go up to my camp.
-
No, not really. The gun was already altered, so the collector value was already gone, and the old parkarized finish looked like ..... Looks much better now.

Ok, I'll try that, the caps did fit a bit loose. I was cleaning the breach plug yesterday and I used a pipe cleaner for the hole through the nipple. Shouldn't the pipe cleaner go all the way through? It wouldnt. Sorry for all the questions, thanks again for the help.
-
Thanks Bubba. I was using #11 caps, I think CCI. I didn't hear much when the hammer fell, just a little fizzle and little smoke. When I opened the breech the cap was mangled. It fired when I put a new cap on the nipple and tried the second time. I remember what you said when it didn't fire. I placed it down and didn't go near it for like 5 minutes, LOL.

Bubba, Any idea why the misfires?
-
I've taken them home and looked at them under a magnifying glass. They were baby ticks. Either one sucks though. First pic I couldn't view for some reason. Second pic looks like a fox to me.

I was fortunate enough to harvest the biggest I've ever seen at 192 2/8" net. But if you just want to see what New York or the Northeast is capable of, go to one of the Big Buck dinners. I went to the Northeast Banquet and was amazed at the amount of GIGANTIC bucks that were taken this past season. Several from NY.

Ok, I finally got out to shoot the gun. I was pretty impressed how accurate it was but I had 2 misfires out of the 6 times I shot it. I think the cap fired because I saw a little smoke come from the breech area but no bang. Both times I put another cap on and it went off. Takes a little getting used to with the delay. I loaded 75grs of pyrodex rs and the minnie, quite a bit of recoil. Any idea what caused the misfires?

Cant tell from that pic. But most of the time what people are calling chiggers are actually nymph ticks. I get them ALL the time. Chiggers you can't even really see with your naked eye.

I did it for the first time this past winter with a buddy and his dogs, platte hounds. Delaware county. Basically, someone went out to an area and found fresh tracks. Then 15 of us and 4 dogs went to the area and put the dogs on the track with gps collars. The dogs get on the scent and eventually bump the coyote and you can tell from the howls they are on it. Coyotes are like rabbits, they will start to circle. You position guys in the projected patch and shoot the coyote on the run. Sometimes they will bay up in brush or something. They its real easy. Great time, can't wait to do it again this winter. We got 2 that day.

160 or so is my guess. Beautiful deer, good luck.

My guess is 138, very nice deer. Good luck.

Oh yeah, I felt it, I was at the bank in Riverhead, LI standing in front of the teller. All the women in the bank started to panic. Lights were swinging pretty good. Weird feeling.

All bows are going to be really dropping out at 50 yrds. Don't know the fps second on your bow but todays bow will help a little. Like what was said before a lighter arrow would help if you are ONLY shooting targets. I use my hunting rig for targets and hunting so nothing changes. I used to only practice out to 30 yards and last year I starting practicing out to 50 because I was going out west for elk. Even if you never take a 50 yard shot, which I wouldn't recommend unless the person is consistantly hitting a vital size target every time, those 20 yarders get a whole lot easier.

Not yet Bubba. Too busy. I'm going to be driving by the PA cabelas and will buy powder and caps and minnies there. I'll let you know. I shoot rifle, pistol, shotgun and archery on a regular basis, so I'd don't know if I'll have time to really get into muzzloading too. I am looking foward to shooting it though.

Thanks for posting papabear. I didn't hear about this. I'll be there with my daughters.
