I found a really nice place to shoot 3D archery. I had never done it before. Went this morning. Very nice place. It's called thrill of the hunt. indoor3d.com.
-
They are most likely common grackles. That is the correct name. They migrate through the state every spring and fall. You cannot legally shoot them. Starlings you can.
-
Calverton range is just a run down and dangerous sand pit. I live right by it and drive right past it another 10 minutes to go to Brookhaven. Much safer and nicer.
-
Sounds like fun if I had some around to shoot. It used to be great, now there is hardly any around.

How is the Woodchuck population in your area? The past 5-10 years the chuck population has been pretty much non-existant in my area (Meredith). Some blame the coyotes. I miss the good chuck shoots.

Mixed Martial Arts aka MMA, "UFC" Who's a fan, Who trains?
pistolp71 replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in General Chit Chat
I'm a huge MMA fan, can't wait for the Shogun vs Jones fight this weekend. I watch it all. Strikeforce,Ufc,Bellator, used to watch Pride. Fastest growing sport in the world. Wrestled in High School. -
Just got back from a weekend in the Davenport area (Meredith). About a foot of snow, probably less. The fields were exposed and there was a ton of deer feeding and looking healthy.
-
Be thankful you are working Geno. The sheds can wait. If it makes you feel any better, I havent found not a one yet......
-
Yup, been out post season scouting and looking for sheds quite a bit. Kind of a in between time right now.

Dam! Is that what is on the ground now? Did it just get another foot up there the other day?

If you get the P.O. job, there will be no need for a pistol permit. They also will issue you a pistol, whatever that agency carries. If you are buying the pistol for the security job, then you have to decide what is more important to you. Large capicity or large caliber. You're really not going to get both. The .40 is a good comprimise. You may be able to get a used gun for around $300. Probably closer to $400 though. Look on Gunbroker.com.

SUNDAY YOTES WITH HOUNDS
pistolp71 replied to nycoyotehounds..BUB's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Not where I am. I gave permission to the hound hunters in the area. So did all the surrounding neighbors. They have 1000's of acres to hunt by permission. Let's face it, the hound hunters are the only ones putting down significant numbers of coyotes. I like to call and shoot them too. But I care more about reducing the population. -
Exactly. Even if it's 1 out of a 100, that's too much for me. I know 100% my wasp boss bullets will be cutting and penetrating, guaranteed.

New Video - Perfect Setup
pistolp71 replied to downwindoutdoors's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Very cool. I didn't think you were ever going to shoot. The shot sounded pretty quite, what caliber? -
My old man lives in Putnam, he's shot a couple. They are there.
-
Wasp Boss Bullets 100gr. They fly just like my field tips. I had a bad experience with a mechanical years ago and swore I would never use one again.
-
Yes, they can be hunted with rifles.
-
Nice job. I just went on my first coyote hunt wit hounds last month. Great time. I love to see dogs work, regardless of the prey. We got one big male on the first setup and almost got another on the second setup. We were hunting Delaware County.

New York Outdoor News Subscriptions
pistolp71 replied to fasteddie's topic in New York State Hunting News
Me, I just recently starting getting it. I like it. I like that all the news is in NY. -
X2!

Joe, If I go, do I have to bring my mount? I'm not sure I'll have it done by then. Thanks.

Been away from the site for awhile due to a death in the family, things starting to get beak to normal. I read that a DEC officer say a pick up truck parked near a logging road and checked it out he saw bags of acorns in the back of the truck. Followed the logging road for awhile and found a bow hunter in his treestand hunting over the acorns. And busted him fines the whole 9 yards.Dave I was thinking the same thing. I read it in NY Outdoor News recently. So the answer is yes.

I watch it every chance I get. Love it. Bob Munden is the man.
-
Yup, they made them back in the 40's. I have one. I just recently re-blued it. It was handed down from the old man. That new one looks sweet though.

Sure, I will. I need a cape though because the hair was falling out. I may wait till next year and use the cape from a buck I shoot next year. Unless I get a hold of a cape I like.
