  1. Are you sure you guys are looking at where the broadhead hit and not where the fletching is? Where the fletching is and where it appears the broadhead hits are very different. Maybe I'm seeing things.
  2. What is the price? Rifle? I'm looking for a mule deer outfitter myself.

Wow, what a moron. Iliterate too. So, a deer has to have big antlers for someone to be proud of it? Who are you to say? Great eating deer he has there, any deer, especially with a bow is great.
  4. Doesn't look that far foward to me. Tough to tell though from the pic and the position of the deer. It could be the mythical place that some don't think exists...
  5. So, if this deer wasn't hit high in the lungs, then what did the arrow hit?? Anyone??
  6. Can't stand him. He's from my area. If half of what I've heard about him is true then he's an idiot. Never forget the time I saw his show when he was shooting at running caribou at 80 yards with his bow. Imagine what he does when the camera is not on. Rich and arrogant.
  7. Yeah, me too. I hate shooting big rutting bucks.

Congrats! Sounds like a good eater, enjoy those backstraps.
  9. Thanks for the heads up John, I'll check it out. I remember Art saying they were going to be filming there.
  10. What about Long Island? They did it years ago, then they didn't anymore. I thought I heard they were doing it again on the island.
  11. Congrats, nice buck. I gotta say though, you shouldn't have gone out last night looking for him. Your lucky you found him after pushing him like that. All worked out this time though. Congrats.
  12. Good luck Geno. I've been out the last couple of mornings. Bunch of does and small bucks. Just starting to chase a bit. Won't be long now.
  13. They typically don't bleed externally, mostly internal with a gut shot. Hopefully you caught the liver. Quick search for the Deer Search I came up with 845-227-5099. Good luck.
  14. Easy. Go home and try to sleep. Look for him in the morning. That's all you can and should do.
  15. I had a bad experience with mechanicals when they first came out in the 80's. Lack of penetration big time. I'm sure they have gotten a lot better since then, but I refuse to use them. I know my wasp boss bullets are going to cut no matter what. I blow through them like nothing. Like Culvercreek said, they have the capability of cutting on the way out as well. They fly perfectly too.
  16. Getting it through there from an elevated position reduces the chances. Just not impossible. But it would also depend on how high in the stand and how far of the shot. I was 12 ft up and the shot was 20 yards. Agreed, a separate deer anatomy thread would be better.
  17. I do believe it because it exists. Nothing mythical about it. Granted, it is small but it is there. It can even be seen in the circulatory system diagram that was posted. Deer aren't recovered from this hit to verfiy this because it's not a mortal injury.
  18. There most certainly is a spot above the lungs and below the spine, we call it no mans land, I shot a deer there years ago. A deer hit there will not bleed much and survive if it doesn't get infected. The arrow will have a wax type coating on it.
  19. He's mature that's for sure. Good luck, hope you stick him!
  20. I still do it, just not as much as I used to. I don't go until bowhunting and waterfowl season are over though. Probably just a couple of times a year. A lot of my old spots are now either shopping centers or condos. Sad.
  21. The benefit of using the skeet choke is that it is slightly more open than improved. A lot of these rabbits will let you just about step on them before they run. The more open pattern lets you hit them a little easier and doesn't destroy them as much. I use one of my 20 gauges with either skeet or improved.
