  1. What I saw in that video is ABSOLUTELY NOT HUNTING, PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
  2. I'm so sick of the race card. Obama is quite racist himself, at least to the white side.
  3. G-Man, that is right. I lived it. A few years ago, I took my wife rifle deer hunting with me in Delaware County. We went out a couple of times and one afternoon a nice healthy 6 pt buck came walking right by us. She had her nice new T/C 7mm-08 and said " I'm not shooting that, it's too small". I was telling her to shoot! She got that from unrealistic hunting shows.
  4. Skillet, sorry to hijack your thread.
  5. Well, I won't keep you waiting then. Shooting a boar in a high fence area I still wouldn't consider it "hunting", but can understand it more because you can't shoot a boar in NY fair chase. To shoot a deer behind a fence, when they are available to everyone in NY in abundance is much different for me. The people that are shooting deer behind fences are incapable of shooting them in the wild. They are paying to shoot big bucks because they are obsessed with antler size and not hunting. Like I said, most are lazy, and have no hunting skills. Just a bank account. I don't think it's good for the sport of hunting to shoot deer behind fences. But, that's just my opinion.
  6. I'm sure you will have a good time. My buddy went to that place years ago. I think it was cold brook then. Looked like fun. For me, high fence hunting for boar is a lot different than high fence for deer. That's the only way you can shoot a boar in NY. Those chops will be tasty.
  7. What f-ing losers. And they probably bragged how hard they hunted for those bucks. All high fence hunting is a joke. Usually fat and lazy people with no hunting skills.
  8. Depending on the area, the Concealed Carry permit is hard to get. You need a good reason like carrying large amounts of money, etc. The target/hunting permit is easier to obtain.
  9. Did you mean can't? I used to use my .45 ACP as my close range weapon when hunting in Putnam County. Usually during drives. My T/C .35 Rem was my long range gun. I shot many deer with that .45 acp over the years and it works just fine with the right bullet and of course a well place shot. Are there better handgun calibers out there, sure. A 10mm being one of them.
  10. The fawn is definetely more tender, but I also think it tastes different. Just like I think veal tastes different than regular beef.
  11. Joe, all things being equal, the cook, the cut, etc. Do you think a 7.5 yr old rutting buck tastes the same as a fawn?
  12. What a buck. I don't think he was looking for food in that field, not on Nov 13th.
  13. It will do just fine. My old man used to use his 7" Ruger all the time in Putnam County. It can be pushed to velocities close to a .44 yet with a bigger bullet. I believe he was using 230's.
  14. I eat both on a regular basis and my vote is upstate deer taste better. Guess it just depends on what they are eating though.
  15. Cool pics. Two things surprise me. First that those bucks are still holding antler, and two, that there was a turkey strutting the first week in Feb.
  16. There are many semi autos that can fire with the magazine out. Only some have the magazine disconnect safety. If he was dumb enough to have his finger on the trigger as he released the slide to put one in the chamber, maybe. But, I wasn't there. Could be anything.
  17. Being that he just bought the gun the day before at that show I guess it COULD have been a malfunction. The higher percentage would say that he probably did something careless and good thing he only shot himself. Pretty sure none of us were actually standing next to him when it happend, so you never know. You can't be inside the show with a loaded gun, so I don't see anything wrong with re-loading the weapon in the parking lot in a safe manner. I've done it. I wouldn't want to get car jacked on the way home with an empty weapon.
  18. I'm in. I can only shoot one round because I have to work that afternoon, but I'll be there.
  19. If it's at thrill of the hunt, I'm in.
  20. Hard to tell from the pic, but it does look the moose rubs I saw in Alberta.
  21. Here's mine. A retrieving machine. She's a HRCH and MH.
  22. That's been my experience as well. I have shot quiet a few. Not like the movies. The only ones that are like that are .22's with sub-sonic ammo. Then you just hear the action cycling. Don't see the need for one when hunting.
  23. I'm in! Florida is loaded with them. When my daughter gets a little older I will be taking her to Osceola Outfitters in Florida. Can't wait.
  24. I did when I was a kid. Spear and 22's. I think they do taste like chicken a little.
