Ditto, Sportsman's Guide is probably the the best place cost wise. You should get more than a few yrs out of it if properly cared for. (hand wash, air dried) Machine washing and drying will kill it quick. FDXX75

I agree with the statement about the mag/clip, if you have another one try it and see if you experience the same issues. I did forget to mention that in my earlier post. Interesting I have never heard that before . We are starting to see them here in the past few years. I was happy to see them as I heard they feed heavy on porcupines . They are very fond of quillpigs, actually it is their favorite food staple. I posted pics a while back of a 3-4 week old fawn that had been attacked by a fischer next to my house. The animal rescue folks told me they see a large amount of fischer attacks on new born to 8 week old fawns alot. They also stated that fischers are very intellegent animals and will actually travel to known fawn birthing areas to get a quick easy meal, Black bears are probably as bad when it comes to killing fawns. I don't believe you are having ammo issues as much as a common gun issue with nearly all the Remington auto loaders. As much as everyone would like to say/ believe Remington worked out the bugs on this model....................................I highly doubt it. If you haven't disassembled the bolt yet, cleaned & lubed it since new out of the box, start there. If it still hangs up do a simple tape test on the bolt/receiver to see if the bolt is actually opening to its fullest extent when fired, if not the spring will have to be reworked/modified to correct the problem. Garlic tablets from any pharmacy work well also, but you have to start taking them a day or two ahead to get them in your system. Have been using them for yrs. during early trout season trips in the back woods. FDXX75

Sightings may be more frequent this time of yr. as Fischers are one of the main killers of fawn deer and the does are birthing around this time. They are relentless animals. FDXX75

Currently the three closest locations to you are in Fulton & Saratoga Co. classes are scheduled for July & Aug. I would not wait to long to register somewhere, last fall my son took both his archery and hunter safety courses, we signed up months in advance and the hunter safety course had over 80 people that showed up. The first question you need to address is what type of hunting do you plan on doing with the gun...........terrain, max. yardage,etc. That will help determine what magnification range you will be looking into. Rule of thumb, good glass will cost you as much, but more likely more than the gun itself. Purchase the best glass your pocketbook will allow you to. Buy good now, no regrets later. Noodle, Just a suggestion, but ask around with some of the local farmers in your area. Most of them all have their own post auger for setting fence posts, you might be able to work something out with one of them before the planting season gets in full swing. I with ya up to the water & bleach part ....................then stopped reading any further. The first mistake was water, it accelerates the bacteria problem, then have to wash your deer down with bleach....................O hell no!!!!!!!! To each there own. FDXX75

The key word is "practice", I bought my son an inexpensive Crosman bb/pellet gun for Christmas when he was @ 6 to get him started in shooting. My first mistake was not getting a gun that fit him properly(my bad, very big bad) he would shoot it but not in proper form or accurately. But, once he grew into it...............................the kid would go through a couple tins of pellets a weekend easy target practicing. He graduated up to a .22 cal a few yrs ago and he can put an entire box of shells into a target at 25-30 yds and cover the spot with a quarter (open sights no less) Personally, I feel it is cheaper and safer to get a child started out with a pellet gun, I prefer pellet over BB's for safety reasons, the soft lead pellets don't bounce back at you. A good quality pellet gun these days can help older shooters get back into their shooting form and mental state at much less cost than rifle ammo. Ditto, I had some rather lower than average lifestyle folks move a trailer onto a lot down the road from me a few yrs ago, well they moved out about two yrs later and left there rat collection behind for the rest of us neighbors to deal with.......................long story short, I had rats take up residency in my storage garage and my workshop looking for a place to hold up for the winter. Those nasty things will chew through anything shy of concrete and steel......................................well I set a trap line, rat poison and finally took out the remainder with my pellet gun (inside the garage) shooting over bait.....................lol. Pellet guns have there place, no comparison to a .22 cal in overall performance, but up close and personal................a good pellet gun will get it done. Quietly. FDXX75

Not sure what the method to "their" madness was, but there really is no need to add pork fat to beef. Now, adding good ground pork, veal and beef together in a good ratio makes one hell of a meatloaf mix.

I normally freeze the pieces or amount of meat I intend to grind for sausage and then later on down the road, a few weeks or a month later on a crummy weather day, I break out the gear and go to town on making my sausage. FDXX75

I just came across a product last week in Price Chopper, in the international food section......................called Tiger Sauce. I p/u a bottle and tried it the other day while making Fahita's, it was really good. It is a blend of diff. peppers and spices that come together nicely FDXX75

I bought a used Benjiman Sharidon 5mm @ 15 yrs ago at a local gun shop, it has performed flawlessly over the yrs and is extremely accurate out to 45 yds. It has helped huge in down sizing the red squirrel population around the house. It is much quieter than a .22 cal and for close range shooting it is the nuts. FDXX75

I have both a conventional and laser bore sighters, I use the conventional one 9 out of 10 times for two reasons. It helps in aligning the crosshairs when tightening the top clamps on the rings to prevent scope canter and after bench sighting I can reinsert the bore sight and note the exact location on the grid and document it for later referrence. Neither of which you can do with the laser sighter. I have used mine on dozens of rifles over the yrs. and have always been on paper within a few inches of the bullseye. FDXX75
