Collapsible stock on bolt action rifle
FULLDRAWXX75 replied to upstaterifle's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
DEC only tells you what they allow for hunting in NYS................................ATF regulations dictates if the weapon is legal to own or possess, and who can do so. Here is a clip from the ATF Regs: (7) The term "rifle" means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of an explosive to fire only a single projectile through a rifled bore for each single pull of the trigger. ( The term "short-barreled rifle" means a rifle having one or more barrels less than sixteen inches in length and any weapon made from a rifle (whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise) if such weapon, as modified, has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches. I believe it would fall under the "short barrel rifle" ruling if the overall length is less than 26" folded, even though the barrel is 16" or more. Then you get into the special permit paperwork and red tape BS. Both rifle and shotguns have the have specific min. barrel length & overall length specs. to be legal, unless stated otherwise in the regs. FDXX75 -
That statement is a little contradictory isn't it.......................................POI can & will change with charge charges (out of the same gun) FDXX75

400 COYOTES killed in small western Pennsylvania village of Hawthorn These guys have been busy this winter! This is Tony and Terry Undercuffer, and Punk Shick of Hawthorn, PA. You think we don't have a coyote problem in western Pennsylvania? Well think again! These three boys shot over 400 hundred coyotes in western Pennsylvania from the first of November to the first week of February 2011 within twenty-five miles of my home town. There are 208 coyotes in this picture and the balance of the coyotes had mange. I do truly thank these three boys for all the help in the control of these predators! I'm a rancher in Oak Ridge, PA and without their help with predator control it would be impossible to raise livestock. FDXX75

Yeah, the Mini 14's are a crap shoot when it comes to accuracy, my brother had one just like that...............could hit crap with it on a consistant basis. I never saw a gun with problems that bad. FDXX75 -
Paddy rings his new girlfriend's door bell, with a big bunch of flowers. She opens the door, sees the flowers, and drags him in. She lies back on the couch, pulls her skirt up, rips her knickers off and says 'This is for the flowers!' 'Don't be silly,' says Paddy, 'You must have a vase somewhere!' FDXX75

My wife found out that our dog (a Schnauzer) could hardly hear, so she took it to the veterinarian. The vet found that the problem was hair in the dog's ears. He cleaned both ears, and the dog could then hear fine. The vet then proceeded to tell Andrea that, if she wanted to keep this from recurring, she should go to the store and get some "Nair" hair remover and rub it in the dog's ears once a month. Andrea went to the store and bought some "Nair" hair remover. At the register, the pharmacist told her, "If you're going to use this under your arms, don't use deodorant for a few days." Andrea said, "I'm not using it under my arms." The pharmacist said, "If you're using it on your legs, don't use body lotion for a couple of days." Andrea replied, "I'm not using it on my legs either. If you must know, I'm using it on my Schnauzer." The pharmacist says, "Well, stay off your bicycle for about a week."

I don't believe Tony Knight is involved with the front line running of the company anymore, Here is a post from another site: Knight Rifles Back In Production Knight Rifles is pleased to announce their return to making muzzleloaders. In 1985, Knight Rifles pioneered the modern inline muzzleloader. Today, Knight Rifles is proud to announce they will continue in the tradition of muzzleloader hunting. Knight Rifles launched its 2011 gun lineup on their website (www.knightrifles.com) this past week. These will be the first rifles to be manufactured under the new ownership of P.I. Inc., located in Athens, Tennesseelace. Rifle production will be in Athens, while warranty and gunsmith work will be done in the Centerville, Iowa location. With this launch Knight announces a brand new rifle, the "Mountaineer". This rifle has been in the works since before Knight was acquired last March.Brand manager, Gordy Edwards says, "I believe this rifles performance will surpass even the best of rifles manufactured in the past, with the unique ignition system built around the use of Blackhorn 209 powder, we are very excited about it." "We've already received great feedback and anticipation from customers who haven't been able to purchase a Knight for the past 2 years'" says Sam Brocato, sales manager. Knight Rifles plans to begin production in February with shipments beginning in May. Contact; Sam Brocato, Sales Manager (423_ 746-1313 or [email protected] For more information contact us at www.knightrifles.com or by calling 866.518.4181 I have heard alot about Gordy Edwards, making personal return phone calls to customers to set up appointments for repairs and factory tours......................... He seems to be a local celebraty with the TN hunting crowd. FDXX75

I used Core Loks for 20 yrs before I started reloading, one had one bullet seperate, found it in the dead deer. FDXX75

HUNT6246, I would like to pick your brain a bit about reloading your own slugs, what components are you using? (hulls, wads, powder, etc) Also, are you using a special crimper, say roll crimp or reg. star crimp? What type of loader are you using as well? FDXX75

I plan on using the cheap Remington corelock ammo in 150 0r 165 grain. ANyone have any problems with these? Remington Core Loks are not a cheap ammo, they are one of the best factory ammo's you can purchase. If you are shooting an .30-06 I would not recommend a bullet under 165 gr. for deer. FDXX75

Scary hunting encounters or happenings?
FULLDRAWXX75 replied to Robinson446's topic in General Hunting
Well, lets see....................I have been nearly shot twice, Once three deer ran between me and another hunter I didn't know, he opened up on them and hit the tree I was standing next to twice. The second time a whole group of hunters were standing outside of camp waiting to split up for drives, when the camp owners girlfriend touched off a round into the ground directly between my feet at 10 ft. (she loaded up her 30-30 Win. and while easing off the hammer it slipped and dropped on the firing pin) 4" left or rt. and she'd of shot my foot off. Back when I first started hunting, maybe the second or third season, I had a morning watch that used to take me about 45 mins to an hr. to get to, so I would leave the house real early and walk to it in the dark. One morning I was running late and high tailing it along trying to make up time...................I rounded the corner off the log road into a field, there was big Scotch Pine on the corner, well it was dark and me makin' time............there were three turkeys roosted in that pine, I rounded the corner and they took off, sounded like three Apache helicopters.......................I damn near had a heart attack right there on the spot. I have one more good one, but have to go eat my dinner now.....................................more details later. FDXX75 -
Just to clearify the "meat saw" statement.................I was referring to a hand saw, not an elec. band saw table top model. You could use a reg. rip/crosscut saw or a hack saw but I feel a good meat saw is money well spent. I use mine for 5-6 cut locations per deer and it makes quick work of the situation. FDXX75

It will turn into a money maker for the state, the hunters will drop off like flies..................................................and DEC will not be able to keep up with the poachers. By the sounds of it, it appears the upland/waterfowler hunters had most of the incidents. FDXX75

A lot of guys refer to them as a "Trapper's Rifle", I found one a few yrs. ago in mint condition .223/20ga. If you look around you can find them here and there. A friend of mine has a 30-30/12ga. Now that is a sweet combo. FDXX75

446, I will add to the already mentioned items, (go with an elec. grinder from Dick's, WalMart, etc) I would go with a boning knife over a "fillet" knife, two different blades (shape and structure) I am guessing you already have a descent knife for skinning, but would highly recommend buying a good quality meat saw at least 18-20 inch blade. I started out using a hand crank grinder and bought an elec. one @ 4 yrs ago at Dick's, wish I had just spend the $60.00, 20 yrs ago. FDXX75

I know that feeling, me and a buddy where fishing the Jessips River south of Indian Lake a few yrs. back, we where waist deep in the middle of the river in waders with 5-6 ft. banks on each side. There was a shallow spot with a sand bar in the middle part way down the river, on the way back through we saw fresh bear tracks (7-8 inches across) and a half eaten fish that was not there 30 mins. earlier. Gave me the chills....................But not as bad as the night 4 bears raided our tent site at Indian Lake campground and distroyed the entire site except for the tent and us, that was one scary night. Just funnin' with ya Doc, Back in the summer of '75, me and my best friend spent the entire summer vacation off school living out of a cheapo orange two man pup tent, we each had one blanket and a day pack. We covered a @ 10 radius from his mom's house and we would stop back home once every 4-5 days to stock up on peanut butter and bread.................lol. Usually, we would fish all the local creeks/streams and eat what we caught. He and I talk about those days all the time when we get together. Today's youth has no clue what they are missing out on...........................................35 yrs from now, they can discuss what an awesome game of Halo they had, if they can still remember it.
