How about you lose the weight, so you can be around to enjoy more time with your son and also stay out of the overburdened hospitals taking care of breakthrough cases of obese vaccinated citizens ? More than two-thirds (69%) of breakthrough COVID-19 hospitalizations occurred among people ages 65 and older, who are more likely than younger age groups to have gotten vaccinated. A fifth (21%) of breakthrough hospitalizations occurred among people ages 50-64, while 10% occurred among younger adults. Larger shares of fully vaccinated adults hospitalized with breakthrough COVID-19 had selected chronic conditions including, hypertension, diabetes, heart failure, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) compared to those hospitalized with COVID-19 who were not fully vaccinated. The analysis examines data from June to September from Epic’s Cosmos research platform, which includes data for more than 120,000 hospitalizations with a COVID diagnosis during a four-month period. For the sake of humanity, put down that pizza , get off your phone and get to the vaccine mandated sanitized gym !

After reading through this thread and salivating over some of the pic's, I went down to the freezer and took out a red deer steak to have for dinner tomorrow. A young corn fed hind is one of the best tasting meats I've had the pleasure of eating.

Yet the President you voted for has raised tax's, decimated business's, trampled over your rights and has had more Americans die from covid and it's related illnesses in under a year, with 3 vaccines available, than Trump with no vaccines for almost 11 months ? "Anyone who's responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America." Joe Biden during the last 2020 presidential debate. I guess selective memory is one of the many side effects of the Jab ? Luckily you have some unvaccinated members here to refresh your memory and help you off the cross.

That's a problem a lot of dead hunters would've preferred to have and another reason why I prefer to use ladder stands.

2021 Misremembered
Shoots100 replied to Grouse's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I'm glad many here have made the best of it, while hunting, fishing and camping in states/countries that allowed you to enjoy life. Many were locked down, afraid and not lucky enough to be able to travel to those red states that allowed them to live life, free from the politics of covid. I also had a pretty good year. Bought some bucket list weapons, thermal optics and went deer hunting with my eldest brother + friends in Virginia. Except for not seeing one of my brothers and my father, who are still afraid to have visitors, I'd say 2021 was 75/25, good/bad. I wish everyone a Happy holidays and New year too. -
He also left out Pearl Harbor, The Pacific theatre and Polio. The greatest generation did what they did, So future generations didn't have to. Progress was only possible, because great men and women of past generation's stepped up to the plate. This generation of kids think a computer simulation of a dream is adequate. That's not progress.

I did the same thing, but the first time I had my brother there, just in case ! After I tried it, my brother had to try it and we were like two kids with a new toy. Cool thing about it, besides it working, is that you can reuse it, unlike the other descender systems and it's weight adjustable. My highest stand is 30' and I had strap to spare. It's upstate , or I'd measure it. Besides testing, I've never had to use it, but I know it works and is a lot more reliable than a cell phone or radio.

Great perspective post Grouse. I'll add that my Grandfather(DOB 1909) told me that he laughed when in 1961, JFK/NASA claimed that they were going to land someone on the moon. 8 years later, history was made.

Exactly why you need a descender system. No matter the harness, your still hanging in a tree. Treestand wingman
-
Your a legend in your own mind.

And exactly why I use the TreeStand wingman descender system. Glad the hunter was found quickly and kudo's to the ranger and rescue teams.

Where would you find deer now, late season?
Shoots100 replied to Northcountryman's topic in Deer Hunting
As was advised in a post before, still hunting is the way to go. Work the wind and if you have another person to hunt with, doing some drives will be productive too. Switch between being the driver and stander, and having radios helps a lot. Moving around breaks up the monotony of sitting in a tree all day and you get to scout new areas. -
Coyote running around your yard is all you need to justify buying a thermal scope. Once you buy and use it, you'll find many ways of justifying the need to buy a thermal monocular too ! Don't shy away from wanting to become the top predator in your area, embrace it.

Buy lots of shells if you plan on pass shooting. You'll have a better chance and easier target shooting at them when their coming into a spread, than pass shooting.

Your best bet is to sit at the pond before sunset and find where and when the ducks are coming in to roost. Once you find that time and spot, set up a blind facing away from the setting sun and have some fun. The problem with hunting a ducks roosting area, is that once you blast them, they don't usually come back, unless the ponds are located on a migratory route. Local ducks will give you one shot and then their gone, or come back after sunset and leave before sunrise. So, you might only get one shot and be left there looking at an empty pond for the rest of the season. If you have a couple of ponds in different areas, jumping ducks is a great way to spend a day. If you don't have a dog to retrieve them, plan on having some type of watercraft to get them.

Most of the money that runs the Empire state, comes through the cities, which are run by the political elite. Their minions do their bidding and we're lucky we get the table scraps to support the DEC. If it wasn't for conservation acts, monetary grants and laws that were passed long ago, NY state would be one big parking lot. Unfortunately, a lot of the liberal city dwellers have moved upstate because of the ability to work remotely because of covid. While it's been a boost to the upstate economy , they didn't leave their anti hunting beliefs at the city line. Land that used to be hunted is off limits now and their also effecting small town politics, which is also effecting the local businesses that depend on hunters. Shortening a season, would mean shortening their income's. There's a lot of variables that need to be considered with Deer management in NY.

I'm on call this weekend, or I'd be out hunting coyote or grouse.

Yet you still voted for Biden ? Please list the Biden Administrations positive accomplishments over the last year that have benefited Americans, America or it's allies ? In his first hours in office, he shut down the keystone pipeline, causing the loss of thousands of high paying American + Canadian jobs, causing friction with a border ally and Americas Oil independence that was accomplished under the Trump administration. Before the ink was dry on the keystone cancellation papers, he was bending over the table, stroking the cretin Putin, by approving the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline. I won't hold my breath.

I don't use a mobile device to log on here. I have to scroll down to look at this section and new posts from this section aren't posted in the home page either.

Foolishness, is listening to a voter that voted for a president that has the polar opposite beliefs of some of the main core belief's he claims he stands for. Make sense, or are you the only one in the US that's not worried about their 2A rights, Gov't overreach and actually paying more for everything because of higher tax's ?
-
Knowing when these meetings or comment periods were taking place would help get more hunter participation. You also need to remember that this is NY state, run by mostly liberal anti everything politicians and voters with big wallets. If it was up to some of those politicians and voters, hunting would be banned, so I'm always diligent with the DEC, but don't want to rock the boat to much, as IMHO, the DEC is really the only entity that's keeping hunting alive in NY and that could change in a heartbeat.

I would like to know who hacked into your computer and posted this ?

You have the choice to scroll past this section, yet your here and commenting.

You voted for Biden, but also believe in second amendment rights, small Gov't and lower tax's ? I may not be as educated as most of the brain surgeons on this forum, but if those three examples are what you believe in, you voted for the wrong President and are a lying hate filled regressive liberal.
