Really Cuomo again
Sogaard replied to bowtech2's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Last time I checked, if their weren't employment opportunities here, they wouldn't be crossing. Also, hasn't there been a negative flow across the Mexican border for a couple of years now (I'll have to recheck that statistic though, so an edit might be coming)? But yeah, for as much as they complain about illegals, citizens sure do like taking advantage of the cheap labor. Just ask the newly reelected (and indicted) Republican Congressman in the 11th. -

You don't see the risk/reward being "slightly" higher in your scenario? -

For a party that preaches saving money and small government, the Republicans sure seem to want to spend millions to solve this problem that doesn't exist. Wonder why? -

I give up. You guys win. All those votes for Cuomo we actually 12 illegal immigrants in a grand conspiracy, doing something that has been over and over again been proven not to happen anywhere in the country in a statistically significant volume: In-person voter fraud. -

If when you registered you provided the proper documentation, as you know, you do not have to. I feel like I must not be stating my point clearly since I have keep saying this. -

When you registered to vote, did you provide them with the last 4 of your SS or your DL number? (The answer is yes.) Then you don't have to show ID. -

Before this crazy tangent goes any further: I agree, only citizens of the United States should vote (obviously). We can't even get the people who should be voting to go to a poll site and cast a ballot, how many non-citizens do you think their are willing to face jail time and deportation just to cast one? -

When you register to vote you need one of the following: Last 4 of a valid Social Security number. Entire Driver's license number OR ELSE You must show ID when you show up at the polls. Look it up. -

I'll put this in terms you can relate to: You buy a rifle. You go through a background check and pass. You are then allowed to buy ammo whenever you want to. You find the thought of subsequent background checks every time you want to buy ammo offensive. Discuss. -

You can't register to vote unless you are a citizen. You proved that when you registered. Why should I have to prove it every year? Or is this about in-person voter fraud again. -

1) True - it's harder than one would think to remove someone from a voter roll, even when the BoE is actively trying to trim names to save money on mailings. 2) It is necessary because your DoB is on the poll book. NYC also puts the actual age number there too so poll workers don't even have to do the math. 3) Depends on the poll worker. I'm sure some don't look. I know others do. Are you going to take that chance for a felony voter fraud charge? 4) Again, yes, odds are you right, but the risk/reward just isn't there. I'm not saying it is impossible to do, the main point is the line you ignored, which I've taken the liberty of emphasizing this time around. It is not done, because it is not worth doing. EDIT: I want to add, these are facts and opinions are based on the NYC Board of Elections, your county may do things differently, but I've noticed this forum usually blames the city for everything, so I'm using it as a basis. -

Why? To fight against a problem that doesn't exist, in person voter fraud? (The answer you say at the press conference.) Or maybe to suppress the voting rights of people who don't historically vote the way you vote? (The answer you joke about with your buddies.) -

Made you think...what? That someone might: 1) Cruise the voter rolls checking for an inconsistent off year voting pattern of an active voter their own sex. 2) And approximately their own age. 3) Show up at said persons polling place, hope they get a poll worker who doesn't give a crap that your chicken scratch looks nothing like the signature on file. 4) Hope that said person has not voted already. 5) Hope that said person does not show up to vote later on and start a voter fraud investigation. Then repeat that a few hundred (thousand?) times so that they can have a statistical impact. Sounds logical. -

You can disagree all you want, like Ozonics, I'll stick to believing the results of actual studies. And even if you are right, it might not be the hardest thing in the world for one person to pretend to be one other person and vote as them. However, what does that accomplish? What is the risk/reward? A felony -vs- most likely making no statistical impact on an election? The volume that would have to happen to actually impact a race is ridiculous. -

No, it's not. Cases of in-person voter fraud are very, very rare. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2014/10/13/the-disconnect-between-voter-id-laws-and-voter-fraud/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/29/voter-fraud-wisconsin_n_5235466.html http://www.politifact.com/georgia/statements/2012/sep/19/naacp/-person-voter-fraud-very-rare-phenomenon/ http://votingrights.news21.com/article/election-fraud/ http://truth-out.org/news/item/10981-new-nationwide-study-of-election-fraud-since-2000-finds-just-10-cases-of-in-person-voter-fraud I could keep listing more examples where this has been studied, but you can just google it if you're that interested. -
Off, attached to the tree.

I agree, you never want to take a new string/peep into the field, though once your bow is tuned properly and broken in, peep rotation should never be a problem.
-
It's Election Day...the threat is over.
-
With any luck, I'll be back up to 3H Sunday through Tuesday. Going to have to do some test draws with my bow first to make sure I can still shoot it. If not, I may have to borrow a crossbow from a friend.
-
I've always used either a 1/8" or 3/16" peep with no tube. Google "bow peep sights" and look at all the options out there.
-
I think so too. Also, I would try to get away from using a tube for the reasons you stated above too.

Democrats sent out "threatening" letter?
Sogaard replied to growalot's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Just a FYI, voter history has always been public record and the state / county Board of Elections get hundreds, if not thousands, of requests for voter history every year. -
This is what the current Ozonics AT thread looks like: http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2345261 It's always going to be the same, a couple of people with post anecdotal evidence based on limited data points, and then you will get a larger portion posting scientific testing that proves it can't work as stated. Then you get retaliatory posts from people who don't want to admit they wasted $$$. The end.

As it has been mentioned, buy a hang on stand. The bottom of a climber should not be used as a hang on.
