Depending on the date and location, I'd be game.

For our protection....
Sogaard replied to growalot's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yeah, it was called the Patriot Act. And we thanked them for it at the time. -
I lost my 9 year old Lab just about a year ago. I know your pain and I'm sorry for your loss.

A lot depends on the poundage of your bow and the weight of your arrows. If you are generating enough kinetic energy, it won't matter as long as you place the arrow correctly. That being said, if you start looking for a fixed blade, check out the QAD Exodus.

Snow Removal in NYC Averages $1.8 Million Per Inch
Sogaard replied to Cabin Fever's topic in General Chit Chat
I really hope this was an attempt at humor, and you don't actually believe this. -
Maybe we can work out some sort or barter agreement if you're in the neighborhood.

I'm a bit of a bourbon and scotch enthusiast. I have about 35-40 open bottles of whisk(e)y at home right now. Pair that with a decent taste in cigars, and you get a hobby that's almost as expensive as hunting. I have a 250 cigar rated humidor at home, but realistically, it is packed with about 150-175. I'm currently going through a Maduro phase. Monticristo or Romea y Julieta Media Noche(s) are a fine Maduro smoke. I also really enjoy the Oliva Series V, and the Series O aren't bad either. I find Gurkas hit and miss. I've had some really good batches, but also a couple of really bad ones. I bought 20 Titans a few months ago from CI that were just awful. They are getting a little better as they age, but I still wouldn't call them worth the money yet. Some other brands I have enjoyed include Rocky Patel, AVO, CAO and of couse, a fine Cohiba as a treat now and again (if you can get a real Cuban one).

As a side note, I hate slanted articles that don't site the source material. I'd really like to hear the reasoning behind the proposal before passing judgement. Summing it up as "due to concerns about a few law breakers" is shady in my book.

I mostly hunt public land, I'd have to say if NY let 7-8 year olds have rifles during part of bow season, mentor or no mentor, that would be a weekend I would definitely stay inside.
-
In PA, and only for those under 9...and it is just a proposal being floated. In NY the age is 12 for bow and 14 for rifle, this wouldn't effect NY's current policy in any way.

Scent travels on the air currents. It will travel uphill in the morning only if it gets warmer as the sun rises and there is no other prevailing wind. Downhill in the evening, again, only if the temperature is dropping and there is no other wind. Although your statement can be true, there are many times it is not.

I saw once nice buck during bow season, but nothing after that. Ended up taking a doe in MZ for the meat, but that's all. On camera I had a couple of 5 pts that I never saw during the season, but nothing better than that.

What is your view on the documentary, GasLand?

This April's Taxes May Be A Shock
Sogaard replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
A true flat tax without a million and one deductions is not a bad idea, but it doesn't happen that way. Just like no 1%'er is really paying 40% to the government. There is a reason they pay their accountants and lawyers so much. -

Not necessarily. I would put it more along the lines of, the people who have the most should be responsible to pay a higher percentage than those who have less. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer and the country's infrastructure crumbles away. The middle class is just a lie the rich tell the not-quite-as-poor to keep them voting their way. -

I actually rephrased my wording before you finished typing this (see the edited version). You are correct, "enabled" was not what I meant. -

You can play extremist word games all you like, but when it comes down to it, many more hard working Americans can now afford healthcare thanks to the ACA (modeled off of a Republican idea, I might add). We were already paying for the sloths and parasites every time they walked into the emergency room, now there is a least some accountability to not carrying health insurance. And Culliver, if this country has given you the opportunity to make 400k a year (top income bracket), yes, I do believe you should have to give a little more. And that isn't even mentioning what that top earner tax bracket was like in the 50s and 60s, you know, when this country could actually afford to build infrastructure. -
I had a pretty good year this year. My girlfriend is getting a LV clutch and a new laptop because her current one is dying.

EDIT: Never mind, it's not even with the effort. If you want to complain that the top earners in the country have to pay some more in taxes this year, that's you're prerogative. I wish I had "top income tax bracket" problems. -
We don't see eye to eye too often, but I could not have stated this better.

As a city employee, my income is already available with just a few clicks of the mouse, but I understand your point. My point is that at the time of the publication, it was legal, public information, yet the people who published it received death threats, and no one here seemed to mind much. Whether or not it should be public information is a different debate.
-
I guess we can just agree to disagree. Public information is public for a reason. That reason was stated in this thread with no caveats. Sometimes with Freedom of the Press, you need to take the bad with the good. Where were all the Constitutional champions then? I realize the situations are not the exact same, however I do not agree it is "apes and oranges" since both situations boil down to Freedom of the Press and public information.
