    You seem to forget that these laws were put into place by politicians elected by the people. You don't get to choose which laws you have to follow and which you can ignore. Well, you do, but be prepared for the consequences. Everyone wants to be a Libertarian until they need the pothole outside of their house fixed.

    I honestly didn't know pre-'94 guns were legal before that. I knew the magazines were, I did not know the entire rifles were. Time to dremel off that bayonet lug?

    I'm not agreeing with the law. I would love to see it repealed. What I'm saying is that breaking that law is a very risky endeavor that I do not endorse.

    Or, as you have pointed out more than once, they can buy a slightly angled grip/stock, and thereby eliminating all the dangerous potential of the gun and reducing it from an "assault weapon" to just a "plain ole weapon". Yes, that is laced with sarcasm to point out how idiotic the SAFE Act is.

    Anything you owned prior to the SAFE Act was grandfathered in (minus the high capacity magazines). You did not have to sell or dispose of them (again, sans magazines with 11+ round capacity). The SAFE Act just makes you register them.

    Show me the old law that did not allow you to own an AR within the city as long as you only had 5 round magazines. I believe you are incorrect here.

    Prior to the SAFE Act, yes, you could own a registered AR within the city. Though, legally, your magazine could only hold 5 rounds (as opposed to 10 in the rest of the state).

    Yes. If the guns were illegal, then hunting with them would be illegal, which would make owning them useless, wouldn't it? Or I could risk a felony, jail time, and losing my job to keep some rifles I could never be seen with buried in my basement.

    I know...Didn't I say that? I'm all for swapping out that deadly assault pistol grip for a less lethal grip and thereby making your AR platform legal though.

    All fun and games, until they slap the bracelets on you. I don't own an AR, but I damn sure would have registered it if I did. Life/Job/Livelihood destroyed -vs- doing something all residents of NYC have to do with any long-arm anyway...not really much of a dilemma. Side point, showing us how uninformed you are ("He should stick to banning soda...") does not help your cause. That was Bloomberg, not Cuomo. And this should be in Politics, not General. EDIT: For the record, I do not agree with the SAFE Act, but it is the current law whether you like it or not. The consequences are severe and will change your life if you are prosecuted for breaking it.

    Floyd Bennet does have one. From the website: Archery: The Floyd Bennett Field Archery Range is an outdoor range with 8-10 targets set at various distances and a covered platform from which to shoot.. Crossbows and hunting tips are prohibited. The range is accessible to persons with disabilities. Call 718-338-3799 for more information. I believe you need a permit to access it though. Staten Island also has an outdoor archery range at Willowbrook Park. You can shoot up to 50 yards there, iirc, but it is BYOTarget.

    That's great news for me. I was bummed that I'd be losing tax free internet purchases because of the store in Western NY, but not have access to the actual store. I guess if I'm losing the tax-free anyway, this place will be about 20 minutes closer than Hamburg, PA.

    Around what page on the AT thread does it state that? I stopped reading it around page 120 or so and don't really feel like thumbing through the next 50. As far as OG, it was always believed to be real from the original poster (not OB who posted about it originally). That is one hell of a buck if its legit.
