  1. Oh look. Pic number 114 of 80 inch antlers from a meat hunter. I would be more impressed if he had a big set of nuts.
  2. That’s a tough pull. The need/want to harvest a deer is strong. One could chase many small game critters to fill the “Desire”in us. The pull is real.
  3. We are waiting for you to deliver the final Chop. To be or not to be… That is the question. ??
  4. No doubt a deer is still a deer but we’ll managed property will have Whitetail sightings during daylight hours. A few good food sources stuck in prime spots help things along.
  5. Exactly. We have plenty of daytime sightings even now but we also have over 1000 acre block controlled right out the back door with very little pressure. Only a hunter or two with me on occasion and mature deer only. The best hunting in Ny state is on larger properties that the owners control themselves. Without state influence.
  6. The best really. Will allow a whole lot of bullshit before he pulls the plug but after your warning your history. As it should be.
  7. Thankfully there are not that many idiots out there that use that stupid shit as their claim to fame.
  8. A to think some fool thinks a guy can make anything close to that beef with a wild deer by hanging it a few extra days. Venison from a farm destroys any wild venison and even tame hand raised venison does not come close to some of that beef.
  9. Beats my Scorpyd by a bit. These things today are crazy fast. Ny will get their heads out of the Arse one day and we will all have so called “Legal” Xbow’s.
  10. Exactly. I don’t care if one tenderizes the nuts of the smallest button buck in the woods. No venison regardless of how it’s taken care of or prepared comes close to some of today’s top end beef.
  11. Yeah they have some new neat stuff on the market these days. This contraption was a brain child 10-12 years back. Amazing how sweet it works and easy to get around. Those new rope ones even come with motors to give a little more power. Not sure how the battery life would be on some of those models.
  12. Picture this if you will. A handcart with a winch installed and a marine battery strapped to the floor of the handcart. Two straps securing the cart to a tree and a plastic sled rounds out the unit. Sliiiiiiick as can be.
  13. I still live in the bottom at 58 and I still have to stay away from the easy access points but I have had to add a couple extra ropes the last couple years. Disclaimer….. if it does not go on the wall. It Walks. One does not take that venture with me if filling tags are their objective.
  14. One last run down in God’s country. Don’t know of a prettier place.
  15. Exactly. Less pressure will make better hunting for all age classes of deer. And make a better herd of all age classes.
  16. Again you keep having to say trophy bucks. Mature bucks will be the outcome of better management but that would also leave plenty of young deer for those that can’t take a mature deer for whatever reason. When tradition and history has made a poor deer herd when it comes to total management it should not be held the same just because that’s the way it always was. Change has to happen for improvements.
  17. I think 1 buck per hunter your choice of season would be perfect. There would still be a gun season. Just not during the rut. There could still be a bow/crossbow season and a muzzy season. These other states didn’t get the great deer hunting they have by accident. Some hunters will bitch regardless of which way the state went. Just the nature of the beast. But Ny will never change because he’ll we have white shirts any tie’s that probably have never stepped in the woods calling our shots. Hence we will always stay in the bottom of the top 10 deer hunting states.
  18. When you have a well balanced herd every hunter gets the same opportunity. When a herd I geared towards the larger buck do you not think there is not still little bucks for people to shoot if the want is there? I’m not for Ar myself. I am in support of shorter seasons, no guns during the rut and mandatory deer check stations. Ny has no idea how many deer they have or that are killed every year. And haven’t for years.
  19. See your still clueless. The antlers come with the success of finding, Hunting and killing the smartest animal in the woods. I tried to get this buck right here and will be back at him all next week… Does this look like antlers to you? This deer has never had a daylight picture taken. There is a big difference in someone that really hunts for a deer and someone who just shoots whatever they are lucky enough to have walk by.
  20. Spot on agree with you. But like the posts you put up the other day about trail cams.. if a guy could care less what he shoots and only goes for meat be it yearling buck/doe or older why keep track? Why bother? Your still out there and still getting your venison. That grand in trail cams could have bought a lot of other needed stuff I’m sure. And a better managed herd would still give you all you want in deer hunting and would also help all other hunters regardless of what their goal is. A better aged herd will still give those that want to shoot younger deer the chance and will also satisfy those that need the challenge of finding and hunting the real best, biggest and smartest deer in the woods. Let’s be honest here. It’s not real tough to just kill any deer in today’s deer hunting. And if it is then they are not giving it much effort. Like going to where they have a better chance of killing any deer.
  21. Exactly. And like you said. 30 plus years you only harvested maybe 10. And better management plan would give you that great feeling of getting an older more mature deer. AND you would have the great harvests and great times that you have now. Win-Win!
  22. Bullshit. It is the hope of killing the 3.5 year old that drives hunters. Most can’t get it done or settle for less. Our resident Wolc shows that to the max. Always kills babies and now that an 80 inch buck walked in front of him he can’t stop showing pics of it and talking about it. Usually the way it works out.
  23. Negative!! Know them well. Ny wants to make laws that work out for the idiots then I will stay out of it. Not worth the hassle it could become. I will never risk myself, family or business to stick my nose into someone else’s business.
