  1. I never wore them till one time after gutting a deer I had to take a leak, then later that evening the wife didnt buy the story of why there was blood on my junk. I have wore them ever since. LOL
  2. Unfortunately thats what most lake guides had to target for there clients, king fishing just sucked. Lakers are native to the lake and sounds like the feds want more lakers and less non native species like salmon in the lake. This may be the norm in the future. I sure hope not. Lakers are definitely fun but it certainly does not bring the fisherman and the money they spend in the local economies.
  3. Here on the east end its not down just a bit, its way way down. End of september and you should be able to walk across there backs on the SR. You can go all day and not see a salmon right now.
  4. 30 lb this year would of been one heck of a goal. Funny how just a short few years ago 30lbers were a dime a dozen. The king fishery in LO is on a fast downslide. We are only averaging 15 to 20lbers on the SR. And there isnt very many of them either. Last year was miserable and this year is worse yet. I bought a t shirt today that says WTF and above that says Where's The Fish. LOL
  5. That thing is so big it might be illegal to shoot a gun within 500 feet of it. LMAO Talk about the comforts of home.
  6. LOL easy Grow, im just pointing out to you that since the other hunters on this piece are members and you dont want them to know of this deer or worried about your cam you may be safer to not post it. When you point out the owners dont hunt, takes care of 2 homes and an apartment, is away a lot etc..... Doesnt seemed far fetched that the other members hunting this piece know all that too. Just saying, if your worried you may have just let them know.
  7. So you wont post full picture but you will give a full description of the spot. If you are worried I would of never posted the thread.
  8. All I ever used was black walnut husks, until I tried the speed dip. I went back to walnut husks and never looked back. Was not pleased with the results and color seem to wear off to fast.
  9. I think you possibly live in the Twilight Zone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjwI9Oz0yl0
  10. Good stuff guys. I still find it quite ironic how in just the past few post alone the rut has been described differently. From my understanding and from reading the Rut is considered by scientist and researchers to be the time when the does are being bred. Pre rut is the activity before and post rut the activity after. I think this is where a lot of confusion comes from. So many different opinions on what the rut is. Lockdown is what some hunters call the actual Rut, they are breeding the does. As far as the buck looking up at the moon comment that was simply to add a little humor to make a point. Good stuff Buckstopshere I appreciate the replies.
  11. Buckstop please explain what you are calling the rut so we are all on the same page. My understanding Rut is when doe are in estrous and being bred. Then there is pre rut and post rut. I said it before and will say it again I dont think there are many hunters that know what the RUT period actually is. They see a spike chasing a doe and then get on the internet claiming the RUT is on. LOL And I fully understand how the climate differentiates the breeding times across north america, and do not agree what so ever with moon phase philosophy. I can be persuaded if scientific proof and not observation can disprove me. I see no correlation what so ever with the same exact moon over the whole country effecting the breeding of whitetails. You honestly can say with positive proof, not observations or theories but hard fact proof that on this novemeber 11th when we have our new moon that deer in Mexico are going to remember this on January 11 60 days later? Especially when you take in consideration an average life span of 5 1/2 years, 60 days must seem like 10 years to them lol. FourSeasonWhitetail will hopefully chime in on this next one. Take these deer farms who have gotten deer from different climate areas in the US. Everything I have read in the past say that it takes them approximately 2 years for there breeding cycle to acclimate to the new area they are residing in. Why is this? Did you read the articles I posted from the QDMA website? Care too explain how they scientifically were able to calculate from all the deer they collected based of a deers gestation period and age of the fetus on the does they collected put the dates almost exactly the same over many years they did this study? Not picking or bashing honestly, nothing wrong with a good debate.
  12. Here is another thought on you moon phase guys. Are the moon phases not exactly the same across the united states? Dont even say NO. Well why does the rut vary from one end of the US to the other by 2 months?
  13. I also stand behind my first post in the thread. You may see activity peaks change but I do not believe the actually peak rut phase when the does are in estrous and are being bred various to any significant degree. Here is a nice article from QDMA on it as well. https://www.qdma.com/articles/what-triggers-the-whitetail-rut and another https://www.qdma.com/articles/no-link-between-moon-phase-and-rut-peak
  14. So let me get this right, a buck looks up in the sky every night at the moon, then one night he sees that full moon in the fall and realizes it is time to get his funk on? I wonder if all living creatures do this, I wonder if menstrual cycles are all based of the moon too.lol For the record Id be hard pressed to say that scientific data based and gps tracking takes a back seat to moon phase observations about deer movement. I also think to have this discussion everyone first needs to understand what the phases of the rut actually are.
  15. It appears Jerome got enough messages about his fake picture where he claimed he got the photo on his deer cam he setup on a buck and took it down. Why people need attention so bad they make crap up is beyond me.
  16. Another lying tool. Be nice if he could get ratted out on his own fb page.
  17. Well when he said foreign that left the door wide open but when he said salmon that closed it on what foreigners it was. Ukrainians, has to be, not because Im being racist because I live on the Salmon River and its choked full of Ukrainians with trunks full of salmon heading back to NYC to sell. Even had FBI knocking on door asking about them last year. Crazy
  18. She should get rid of it the ......... button is still sticking on it. LMAO
  19. Maybe instead of calling the DEC on a lawbreaker and take the risk of getting a beat down later, we should just tell Growie and let her call them in. LOL Kidding Growie kidding. Personally I dont search crime out like others seem to do on here. I dont look at my neighbors or friends or look at others photos of there deer looking for the "whats wrong with this picture" scenario. Heck it went right over my head the guy on the other thread had a pile of corn and salt block in his pictures. I looked at that photo and seen a nice buck. It wasnt till it was pointed out it was there. I have to agree with a lot thats been said to a various degree. FSW's thinking I partially agree with as well as partially agree with the snitch theories too. I think there is a line drawn somewhere in the middle for me. The very first thing when I see wrong doing is think what the outcome is and who it will effect, and if its worth wrecking a relationship over or messing with the wrong guy scenario. Life is way to short for me to look at everyone like they are a criminal first and a human second. Mistakes are made by all of us, yes every single one whether you accept it or not. My big peave is dont trespass on my land period. You will get confronted and told to leave, if I see you again you will get called in and most often in the past there is no response from law either. I once had encounter number 3 with a guy on my land sitting in my tree stand who refused to leave.I had called him in second time I seen him and there was no response. I gave him a a 10 minute warning that he better be gone when I return. He was still there. I still laugh how fast he came down that tree when he seen me carrying a chainsaw. No I wasnt gonna cut it down. Then later I got law called on me for trespassing as well. I was dumbfounded that someone actually showed up cause they never did when I called. However the problem was I got called in for trespassing on my own land, by none other than the guy I kicked off it 3 times. Come to find out he got permission from a local guide to hunt there and said it was his land hence the reason he called me in. It ruined my whole hunting season spending more time worrying about this guy. Another time I found a pile of corn right on the border of my land and neighbors land. Our kids grew up together and were close friends. Yes it bothered me I had seen it and spent a few days wondering how to handle it. I asked another neighbor what he thought about the situation. A couple days later the baiter knocks on my door very pissed off at me. He said officer so and so showed up and ticketed him for baiting and said I called him in. I never called it in but the guy I asked for advice called in as me. So what did that get me, pissed off at the neighbor I asked for advice from and the baiter pissed off at me and the friendship of our kids was lost. The baiter by the way had shoulder surgery and doc told him he could not shoot a gun or bow for 6 months. He just wanted to see some deer sitting in his kitchen. Was it right? Nope, but my god was it really all that wrong in his case either? Point is think things out before jumping the gun. If its in your face, on your land, directly effects you Im all for it. Not saying turn a blind eye but think first because some day you are going to make a mistake and it may bite you in the ass as well.
  20. Dont feel bad Zem. I use to have a contract servicing equipment in a prison, notice I said use too lol. A tool count was conducted before entering the compounds. When you came out the tool count was done again. Well I was short a screwdriver, place was locked down trying to find it. It was just a few hours later It was found in my back pocket. Never got invited back. LOL
  21. Macs are nice but the price tag is rediculous. Mac pro $1200 bucks and has the power of a $300 dollar microsoft based computer. No thanks.
  22. I know a guy who strictly turkey hunts with a 410, yep I said 410. He swears it patterns a lot tighter than any larger gauge. I cant remember the last time he did not fill his tags either. He is a die hard turkey hunter, obsessed may be a better word choice. To each your own I guess.
