I made the mistake once of sitting down with my boy to show him a little bit about shot placement and reading body sign of a deer. Everything I explained to him was completely wrong rigth from the first show to the last according to him. Sadly he was sorta right if he agreed with the jackasses on the tv. Always said to him while bowhunting I never shoot when the deer is looking at me, dont take quartering too you shots, aim for the pocket behind the shoulder etc. When the we were done he looks at me and says well the only thing I learned was you were wrong lol. They all shot with deer looking at them, some shot with deer quartering towards them and all of them either gut shot or spined the darn deer. I was watching Ted Nugent show last night from out of boredom and he shot this doe that was quartering away. Dont ask me how but he literly stuck an arrow just in front of the rear leg, arrow penetrated probably half the arrow shaft at best and angled forward. Couldnt believe how short a distance it supposedly traveled and he is all pump up saying on tv that it was a perfect shot and the angle of it penetrated its heart. LMFAO not unless that arrow was about 48 inches long it didnt. Hunters get a bad rep and this crap sure doesnt help the matter. Amazes me how everyone of those shows the guy is jumping up and down whispering while having convulsions at the same time explaining to the camera it was a perfect shot every time, and then the next day in different clothing they show him recover the thing.

Sherrifs dept in my county have 4 wheelers and snowmobiles to aid in these such things. Might try giving them a call. They also patrol the trail system around here. Try to get a plate number if they are legally registered and turn them in to sherrifs dept. They will not stop till the strong arm of the law steps in.

I cant see any black mask on the face with those big eyeballs glowing in the picture lol

Not really sure on that Fletch. One time when I returned to my truck bowhunting with a buddy we had a DEC stopped by our vehicle. First thing he asked was lets me see your wrist. He was looking to see if we still had our release on. I didnt buddy did. He let him go warning him to remove the release at dark as it was considered the same as carrying a loaded weapon after sunset. I have also dragged out a deer or two in my time with an unloaded gun after dark. I have to check into this but would guess as long as your empty it wold be okay. One thing to help secure that is maybe put a trigger lock on the gun as well just to show if you got stopped your intentions are indeed true and being safe as possible. Just a thought.

What???????? Please point out where it is illegal to track a deer after dark? I will tell you a personal story of this very scenario happening to me. Went home dropped off bow and returned with flashlights. At one point I followed a blood trail to edge of a field on bordering property I have permission to be on. In short order there as a SUV charging through the field with spotlights searching area. I stepped out into field and it was DEC. I told him what was going on and he was just following up on a call from a neighbor of lights out in the field. Not only did he say carry on but he even helped out. Mag light, flashlight, spot light, pen light whats it matter none are illegal to own or use. If your trespassing onto someone elses property then thats a whole nother story. Now mind you this is all on private property but I have never heard this to be illegal on state land either.

Young Yote. A fox's tail is pretty bushy compared to that picture. Thats the first thing I noticed stearing me away from thinking fox.

I suggest you dont drink the water around that place
-
Yep it gets locked. Dont do it very often but every once in awhile if I want to hit the same spot in the morning when Im using the climber I leave it behind. Always walk out at dark and back in before light. Now dont any of you go following me around this season waiting for a free climber.
-
Smart thinking.
-
yeah its definately a risk. I have at times left my climber overnight at the base of a tree when I got down that evening with plans to hunt the same spot in the morning. Even then I am nervous about it.

We had a lengthy discussion on this last year as well. I do believe there is a difference in reference to a tree stand or hunting blind versus a viewing blind or stand. But once again this leaves thing open to interpretation on both the DEC and the one who hangs the stand. When I asked DEC down to camp he said just have to take it down last day of the season, and if they found it after that period they would remove it and it would go up for sale on an auction. Also was mentioned that trail cameras would be considered personal property and could not be left on state land. I bet if you asked 10 different officers you would get 10 different answers as well. lol

I built a few of them when I was younger. Pretty similar to yours. The problem I had they arent so much portable after the first time trying to hang one up. They are heavy lol. There is still remanace of one in a cherry tree from about 20 years ago when I hung it up.

Guns are forever girlfriends come and go lol. Savage makes a pretty good rifle. I would not pass on looking at them. I have a model 110 in 30.06 and its a tack driver.

What you mean to tell me if its on the internet it might not be true? It sure amazes me what people believe. I have heard the micro chip and obama care in the same sentence a few times myself. Another joke taken out of context Im thinking. I have to believe the gullible are a big part of candidates center of attention to get votes as well. I remember the last election when a news show did a random street interviews and asked people who they voted for and why. I was dumbfounded at the responses. Anything from he is handsome to I like his hair, hes black, his wife is pretty, his kids are cute. All very stupid reasons and a lack of educating themselves before they actually vote. Sad the rationality some make for there choice of who they vote for. I might get ridiculed for this but just think how many will vote R&R just because of Ryan being a hunter and no other reason.

Anyone else getting this email? Darn thing is going viral! Received it several times. Kind of funny! JOHN HINKLEY'S RELEASE Nancy Reagan regarding John Hinckley 's release: We could all learn so much from this elegant and gracious lady. You might recall that John Hinckley was a seriously deranged young man who shot President Reagan in the early 1980's. Hinckley was absolutely obsessed with movie star Jodie Foster , and, in his twisted mind, loved Jodie to the point that to make himself well known to her, he attempted to assassinate President Reagan. There is speculation Hinckley may soon be released as having been rehabilitated. Consequently, you will appreciate the following letter from Nancy Reagan to John Hinckley: To: John Hinckley From: Mrs. Nancy Reagan My family and I wanted to drop you a short note to tell you how pleased we are with the great strides you are making in your recovery. In our country's spirit of understanding and forgiveness, we want you to know that we bear no grudge against you for shooting Ronnie. We are fully aware that mental stress and pain could have driven you to such an act of desperation. We're confident that you will soon make a complete recovery and return to your family to join the world again as a healthy and productive man. Best wishes, Nancy Reagan & Family P.S. While you have been incarcerated, Barack Obama has been banging Jodie Foster like a screen door in a tornado. You might want to look into that.

I agree to not disagree lol.

Wait till they fix the glitch and still mail out tags to the ones who got them at time of purchase LMAO.

Not sure if this is the case for you but DEC has been marking out wetlands on private and public land past few years. The swamp that borders my land that is private land also was marked in just the same way you described a few years back.

No way will I vote Obama. He hasnt even opened up his can of whoop american ass yet. My biggest fear is he is holding out on his ture intentions in hope of re-election. With knowing he is done after the second term he will destroy what he has not already. As far as the rich and taxes, well I know Im not rich if you are referring to money lol. But I do know this, The rich employ, the more you tax them the less they have to spend on business and employees. The more the government takes from them theres less reason for them to grow a business and profits. Why reach the next tax brackets if the reward for the extra work and time is dismal. Every american has the opportunity to be rich, and the ones who are succesful at that should not be chastised for it. A flat tax percentage rate across the board is perfectly fine with me. The more you make the more you pay but the tax % is the same across the board. You want health care for the elderly? Kick the damn illegal immigrants out of the country, take away all the BS priveledges for being on welfare like free cell phones EBT cards they can buy beer with, put them on a short list where if fully capable to be employed they have to get off there ass and get a job. If they cant support them self when fully capable sure the hell dont encourage them to birth more kids to get more damn handouts. Take those funds and provide the health care for the elderly that cant afford it. Any Obama voters should take a look at our national debt prior to his election and now. Now tell me who has spent the amount of money he has in less than 1 term and not done anything to improve this country? So no he will never get my vote unless its a vote to kick his ass out of this country!

This is not an attempt to criticize in any way just to help. Correct me any time. I am reading you have a bow with a draw length of 30 inches. You are figuring your draw length aproximately 28 inches right? If this is the case you are sacrificing the potential of the bows performance and yours as well. Not only will you never reach the back wall on draw but a steady anchor point along with a few other factors. The very first thing you should do is seek out a pro shop and have them work with you on getting your draw setup properly. Atleast around here you wouldnt even get charged for this, and for there time and effort to get you setup right purchase the arrows through them and any additional recomendations like correct modules. Arrows will be the biggest expense and broadheads. You will be amazed at how much better the bow will feel in your hands and your shooting will improve as well. If you are going to hunt with this you owe it to the game to be as best you can with our setup and accuracy. Bad shots happen but bad shots from lack of proper setup is not good. There are a ton of emotions that run through your body when you decide to draw back on a deer. Remembering you have to stop before being at full draw on an overdrawn bow so your arrow doesnt fall off the rest is just one thing that shouldnt be on your mind. Good luck and be safe.

I can say that most of my early northern tier bow kills have come when I was on the ground. Up close and personall is defintaley a lot fun and a totally different challenge in itself. In my younger days lol..... I remember hanging stands with great background cover like branches and leaves in the N.Tier. I applied the same practice in southern zone when we got a camp and land down there. I remember that first day of bow season I got to hunt down there and went to one of the stands seeing it completely skylined lol. Early season sure does apply some different tactics than later in the year for stand placement.

There was a segment on the local news about bats. Said that the excessive heat is driving them out of there normal hiding spots looking for cooler places to hang out. Thankfully it has cooled down some for many reasons.
