Doesnt Bowtech make Gander mountain Guide series bows? I remember a few years ago seeing the new guide series lineup and then looked at previous year models and the new year Bowtech lineup looked just like the old Guide Series bows with some modifications. I questioned this with guy behind the counter and he said indeed Bowtech makes them, claimed the deal is Bowtech makes the Guide Series bows first then make upgrades to them and release them the following year under Bowtech name. Dont hold me to this as this is what I was told and if you look at them close you will see great similarities. My point is if gander Mountain is your thing you could save some cash and buy the bowtech under the Guide Series name.

ECO officers no longer exist as far as I know. That name changed to DEC officer.

I have to disagree with access statements. NY has a vast amount of public land, thousands upon thousands of acres. The way I see the problem is the instant satisfaction is not there and thats the world kids are growing up in now. Play a video game/instant satisfaction, play sports/instant satisfaction, watch tv/instant satisfaction, prep for hunting/long term satisfaction, sitting in the woods hunting and waiting for your chance/long term satisfaction. You get my point Im sure. The patience level for reward is disappearing with our youth. If they can fullill there happy bank in a short order or fill it in a long order which one you think they would choose? Fast paced America is the world we now live in.

Cant speak for others but there is no food with these premature acorns on the ground here. They ae not developed yet. Basically just the top part and the bottom shell that harbours the nut is just barely sticking out of the top. If I was to pop the top of the nut off I bet they are less than a 1/4 of an inch thick.

Planting large fruit trees
wdswtr replied to Single_shot's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Definately would wait myself epspecially if you cant keep them watered. With this drought any added stress to the rootball and tree would no be good. Where these grown in large pots or do you have to dig them up? If in them already they have been in them for a long time already and waiting till fall wont hurt them. If in the ground already I would leave them be if it was me. -
Same hear Paula. That biggest green one in your picture is twice the size of the ones Im finding on the ground. They started dropping friday and when they started to let go of the tree they all started to let go. Ground in the woods is covered with premature acorns wherever there is an oak.

Look at the buck in the second set of pictures Skyhunter posted here then look at the date and other deer in the photo!

Just for the record, it is illegal no matter what time of the year it is. Just ask my neighbor pending a court hearing and a fine if they are legal or not!

This cracks me up. I can not think of one single fault in a landowner enhancing there property with foodplots. Wait........ nope not one. So since we all can read where this is going, please someone enlighten me as to how its different from sitting over an overgrown apple orchard or underneath that mass acorn crop or a trail leading to the farmers corn field. What some see is a man made field of bait, which is no different than that 80 year old planted apple orchard or the farmers crop you might hunt on the edge of your property blah blah blah.. What you are missing are several factors that are blind to some. Such as giving back for taking. Plain enjoyment of seeing animals of all walks utilizing your work, helping animals get through tough winters, time spent with family turning over dirt and watching it grow, pictures of what animals are in your woods. Some hunt over them some dont. I dont and never have. See I also know what some are thinking and that is foodplotters are a lazy bunch and dont want to put time in a stand to harvest a deer and instead bring them to the hunter. Well to that I have to say have you ever put in a food plot? I can promise that its a long hard tedious process that requires alot more labor than sittting in the woods for a hunting season, even at few hours a day for a couple months is alot less labor intensive. And yet we still do just that as well. You add up the time and work putting in a plot on top of the time in the woods hunting you might be rather suprise exacatly how many hours are involved. You see some things in life you dont justify with cost, you justify it with the love of wildlife and the passion to enhance a piece of property.

WNY is absolutely correct, draw lenfth and anchor point are two totally different things. Shortening draw length to compensate for your new anchor point after adding a D loop takes one problem away and adds another. Proper draw length in my opinion is far more important than adjusting to a new anchor point. A much better option might be and adjustable release that lets you move the trigger assy closer to your palm, but yet again that even changes the way your trigger finger feel now has to trip the release. My suggestion would be after shooting a few hundred arrows you will never reconize your old anchor point after you put a D loop on. One thing I would love to hear is what you all judge your anchor point by? This is what can mislead alot of people when anyone talks about it. Do you go by where your loop and release touch your face, where you might place a thumb, where your trigger finger is located? When one says there anchor point is now behind there ear exacally what is being refered too?

Yes shutoff valve before the filter. This way it can filter out any debree/rubber breakdown before it hits the carb. You will eventually get to the point where you will know when to shut the valve off before parking the equipment. You will be suprised how long a small engine will run with just the gas in the line and carbs.

I will use an example. My string/nock anchors in the corner of my mouth. Changing draw length would make that either move back or move forward. Adding a loop does not change where the string/nock anchors. My guess is your hitting your arm from not bending your elbow or maybe fist gripping the bow. If you hold your hand out in front of you and make a fist straighten your arm out and point your elbow down you can see how it rotates your arm into the bow. Now rotate your elbow outwords and you can see how it takes your arm away from the bow. Add a little bend in the elbow and it even puts the string farther away from your forearm. Now doing this also changes the way you grip the bow but should also take some torqing away when you shoot. A wrist strap really helps out with holding your bow to your grip. Second thing that comes to mind is maybe your back wall on your draw is soft. Meaning you hit the stoppiing point, or where one should be when you are at full draw and then are able to pull back the bow just a tad more which has a tendancy to straighten your elbow. I had this problem with one of my first bows and cant recomend a hard back wall on your draw enough. When you draw back , there is no more pulling it back further. The last thing is your draw length very well could be wrong, could have been wrong for a very long time but never noticed due to the type of bow and your form. We all fight with a consistant form and lots of times I have seen this actually be the problem as well. Without consciously knowing it changed. So If tis was me I would first check the way I am holding the bow and position of my elbow and where the string(not the loop) hits oon my face (anchor point) if it is farther back than it should be you are either pulling past the wall on the draw or your draw length is off. Hope this helps and maybe (IM sure) others will chime in on there take.

A loop does not effect your draw length just your anchor point of your release and hand.

That is sound advice adkbuck. What I have done on the garden tractor, the 4 wheelers and snowmobiles is put a shut off valve in the fuel line. I simply shut the valve off and let the remaining gas in the line and carbs burn up. Thankfully the big tractor is diesel. lol

Indeed it does, If it doesnt then someone should contact all the 2 stroke engine builders and let them know it doesnt and see what you get for a response. Just one of the examlples I gave was my chainsaw ran 87 in it for a year, 87 with ethanol messed it all up. I have had the same model saw for longer and run nothing but 93 in it per manufactures recomendation due to ethenol. I was also told to run a tad richer as to keep engines temps down a bit more versus the cooler running 87. I can tell you I cut over 30 FULL cords a year with that saw and never had a problem yet and thats just one peice of equipment. It even specifically says 93 in the owners manual and not 87 due to ethanol. And I do know quite a bit about motors as well. Worked on them my whole life.

2 cycle engines run High Octane. Additives LMAO waste of money and I have a 4 wheeler with the 3rd carb rebuild needed to go in it for proof. High Octane or non ethanol period. Ethanol is a complete joke. It cost more to produce it and uses more oil to make it per gallon then to just sell gas without it. Made from corn made by oil. Unless they made a change to the process of producing it that Im not aware of. Anyways Husqvarna and alot of other 2 cycle outdoor power equipment say use high octane due to ethonal. Destroyed a 1 year old saw and a weed eater with the stuff and since I switched over to high octane Have not had a problem since.

We used to play this game we called Knock Knock. It was fun and great practice till It is your arrow that gets robin hood. Get a few guys and draw straws who shoots first. Then each proceeding person tries to hit his. Farthest from the first arrow shot goes first the next round so you try to ruin his arrow for losing the round. We busted alot of Knock, messed up alot of arrows and once in a bloue moon someone would robin hood.

I dont see how you can do this every year but every other year is a possibility. If you have a leftover buck tag you can use it for early bow in Northern Tier, then the two buck tags for current year would get you 3. But that means every other year you fill one buck tag to get the 3 the following year. Other than that Im just as confused about 3 buck tags myself.

Grow what kind of place you running over there anyways? Hemp, Bonner and raper? Geeeeesh.

The Expanded Antler Restrictions - Who is excited?
wdswtr replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
I know that down to camp a few different Pa guys bought land around the area. The ones I met I had to ask what was the sudden urge for Pa guys to make a move to hunt NY. Response from all of them was the same AR ruined the hunting in PA. Guess what, the last couple years they have not returned that I noticed. And one place is up for sale if that means anything. -
You find that one waterhole with water in it or that lone oak with acorns on it and you got yourself a a good spot with conditions like this. More legwork to find them but with fewer sources of water and food it will be an easy stand choice instead of a vast enviorment of lots of food and water sources. It might play out in your favor. But I would rather see rain epsecially for the farmers.

You sure you didnt set that cam up in Fort Rickey Game Farm LOL? Insert picture of Jealous hunter here!
