  1. To clarify, the people we dealt with on the Rez were very nice folks. I really liked them and made some friends I will be staying in touch with. They don't make a sport of shooting dogs. The problem is so bad, that there are literally dozens of strays. The Rez is so poor, that spay / neuter and proper vet care isn't an option for most people. Rescue groups come and take what they can. Vets donate services, but it's still not enough. As a result, the police and game wardens are forced to do things they don't want to. They literally can't afford to put a dog down with an injection. The game wardens were super helpful and nice guys, who thanked us over and over for taking the dogs. Matter of fact, a lot of New Yorkers could be half as nice as South Dakotans (on and off the reservation), and we'd be a lot better off.
  2. No worries man, I don't think you're a racist. The wife is with me! I suckered her into it. Black one is named Sioux, and the brindle is Dakota.
  3. Somehow these two strays ended up in our truck for the trip back. The reservation is overrun with them. They shoot them there. Think they are a Lab mix and a Husky mix. Boy won't the dogs at home be thrilled.
  4. TJ didn't hit it, but it was a buck he was after.
  5. It's legit. My friend TJ got a tag and claimed it. I saw a pic of the scale, too.

Guide figured 6 years old and 1,200 pounds. Not a giant, but huge to me!

What a morning! They spotted us from a few hundred yards off and took off. This guy was part of a group of 3 bulls that were about 100 yards from the main herd of about 60. Took a long time to get close enough, and they were suspicious the whole time. First shot was about 45 yards. Hit too far forward, and broke shoulder. Next was 60 yards, double lung. 3rd was a neck shot at point blank to finish it. Ate a piece of liver raw, as the guide says it's tradition! What a hunt. Worth the years of dreaming, and the 22 hour drive. What a blessing. Thank you God!

Leaving Saturday. Can't freaking wait. Booked a day of prairie dog shooting for my son, too. Got a lot to do this week. Nervous about the 1375 mile drive.
  14. Just call me Ghost. All I seem to do is spook $h!t on my way in or out. Wth.
  15. Leaving work early this afternoon. Looks like a box blind hunt tonight, if it keeps raining. Lucky I made the windows tall enough for bow.
  16. Been debating whether to switch days, but I've decided to go hunting on Tuesday. I'd be useless at work (even more useless than normal), knowing I could be out there hunting. It'll be hot in the stand, but not as hot as the guys at work sweating their balls off on the road. Suckers.
