So what's your self imposed restrictions for the SZ opner?
Skillet replied to mowin's topic in Deer Hunting
Never killed a buck with my muzzleloader, so that's my goal this year. Would like to hold out for a good buck, but we'll see how I feel if an opportunity comes along. -
We're deep frying a spiral ham this Friday night at camp. If there's any left, it'll make a mean sammich for the treestand. Can't wait!

That's like buying your wife a set of implants. Nothing wrong with it, it's just not for me. I like them exactly how they are when I kill them. Nice work tho!

I would shoot a bear all day with an 8mm.

I live in Naples, right next to HiTor. It is a nightmare when gun season opens. Guys literally overrun the place. It would be very hard to get far enough from a road / parking area to ensure solitude. HiTor has a ton of parking and access spots. But, there are a lot of deer there, and someone has to get lucky. Might as well be you. Get in early, go far, and stay put all day. Even if / when you see guys, don't get discouraged. Good luck.

My hunting partner got this guy at my camp this morning. First crossbow deer.

My wife is a vegetarian, who can't even kill a spider. So no pity here, Brother.

Yes. They are going on the shoulder mount.

My friend Brian did a great job on him.

who bleats or does something to stop a walking deer?
Skillet replied to BowmanMike's topic in Bow Hunting
I do it. It has backfired before, but usually works fine. -
I love my muzzleloaders. Only gun I use for deer anymore. You thinking traditional or inline? Only asking because inlines suck. LoL, jk.

Season is winding down for me. Go on night shift next week, on call 7 days a week, and no vacation approved after 11/1. May not get much more hunting in. So, I took this spike and I'm thankful for him.

Sounds cool. Sorry you didn't get one. Did you drive out?

Early season they can have bot fly or warble larva under the skin. Looks like a big lump. Gross, but it doesn't affect the meat. I'll pass tho. Late season is better.

I quarter it up.

I love it. I have smoked it, grilled it, and my favorite is stew. There are a ton of easy recipes out there. For grilling, low and slow is the key for me. I marinate it in a white sauce (Chiavetta's) for a day ahead of time.

**Deleted in respect of OP's wishes.

Yeah, not getting it either. This was under the general chit chat section, where it belongs. If you don't like it, scroll on by. Ben Franklin wanted the wild turkey to be our national bird. If it was, maybe we WOULD be out roosting a bald eagle for our morning hunt. I'm in.

No, but I would love to hunt a walrus.

Just felt something crawling on my head. Smashed it thru my face mask. Turned out to be a stink bug. Now he's smashed in my hair and mask. And it does stink. WTH. -
Not talking about how fast he walks. He does good work, but it's slow. Thanks tho.

Creekside is for sale anyway. The owner is an okay guy, but he moves slower than pond water.

Cool. I love crazy racks. Would rather shoot a weirdo than a typical.
