Looks mean, whatever it is.

Hahahaha. Traffic? More like the same 3 dozen blowhards (of which I am one) constantly shooting our mouths off. How many active members are here, that actually post stuff? Compared to how many ghost accounts there are, I'm betting it's pitiful.

Key word being "medieval", meaning crossbows are not new at all. Show us your self bow and hand knapped heads, then you can preach.

None anymore. Used to get NRA's American Hunter, and NY outdoor news. Let outdoor news run out, and told NRA to keep their magazine when I renewed my membership.

Yes. It was fun at the time, for a kid who was too young to hunt in NY. He knew it wasn't a "real" hunt. It was fun and we ate the meat. No different than going to a grocery store.

Zeek, I have been there before. I also took my son. He got a boar and a ram. It is a great place to start a kid off, and Mark is good people. You will love the land and the lodge. Bring fishing stuff for the pond, too. Enjoy and be sure to post a story with pics!

I cut firewood all summer. Good enough for me.

Few things sweeter than throwing a nice bass on a stringer, in front of a basshole. Rare opportunity, but I highly recommend it.

What is your main species of tree? Is it mill timber or firewood?

Awesome story and thread. I have a few that haunt me. Sometimes I wake up thinking of them. Or, I'll catch a whiff of fall on the air, and it will bring all those memories rushing into my head. Deer missed, a few sadly wounded. Turkeys spooked. One squirrel in particular that I will never forget. Monster fish who got away. As much as I wish those stories ended differently, a few have become some of my favorite memories. I like to think those animals earned it. They were smarter and better than me on that day. I catch myself hoping they are still out there, though many of them are surely gone by now. The memories of the one that got away are sometimes so much more vivid than a successful harvest. In a way, those experiences can be better than a kill. After all, the only real trophies are the memories.

Yes. The rifle likes 385gr Hornady conicals. -
About 50 rounds through it. Bore in great shape. One tiny scratch on stock. Gun is discontinued and extremely hard to find. Cost me $525 new. Comes with a spare nipple, a spare ramrod, & a Lyman 57sml peepsight (cost me $100). It has a new brass blade on the front sight. Rifle is not currently sighted in. $400 you pick it up, or I can meet within an hour of Naples, NY.

Awesome truck! Good job choosing Ford over GM (Government Motors).

Kayak is a lot more versatile. Never seen anyone fishing or duck hunting from an SUP. I love my kayak. The real question is to get a sit-in, or a sit-on. I like sit-in.

Congrats on raising her right.

They have a flavor all their own. Kinda sweet. Reminds me of nice firm pike fillet. The meat is a nice white color.

The boy cleaned up last weekend.

This is some things I keep in a pack, in my truck. When hunting in cold weather, or big woods, the amount of crap and the size of the pack goes up. Paracord, lifestraw, lighters & candles, winter hat, space blanket, books, snacks and first aid stuff, are a must have for me. The lighters are all full, and I swap the granola bars out every year. I hope the lifestraw works, but am not going to test it.

I like the simplicity of single shot guns. Not sure why, I just always have. I wanted a rolling block, but they are stupid money.

How do you like it? Shoot well?

Just bought this beast! Taking my muzzleloader on a Bison hunt this fall, and the guide says I need a back up rifle. So I had a perfect excuse to buy it. I'll put it to use after the hunt, too. Might make a nasty deer rifle. Pretty excited.
