  1. Biz, I think Culver was trying to say that you'd be hard pressed to find a $200.00 Boar hunt, either high fence or not. Once you include travel, lodging and a license, it adds up.
  2. Each to their own. I'd do it. Like Doc said, it's a lot more honest than hunting at Tops. If I had the money, it'd be a cool way to fill the freezer with a bison or something.
  3. Canned for sure. But I think if you don't try to misrepresent it, and enjoy it for what it is, it could be fun. Pricey though.
  4. "Where'd ya get him?" "Out behind the barn, sucker charged me too, luckily I heard the bell in time"
  5. The guy in charge of the calendar went to camp for the opener of Jaguar season. When he got back, he was laid off due to cutbacks.
  6. Anybody ever heard of this preserve, or hunted it? It's in Homer NY.
  7. I only bother with the bullfrogs, they get to a nice size at camp. I think there is 1 or 2 species that are protected in NY.
  8. I always thought it was funny that the Mayans could predict the end of the world, but they couldn't see their own downfall coming from the Spanish.
  9. That would look awesome over the hearth at camp, it's called a Watusi, I think.
  10. We have a pond at camp. After we get a bunch of fish from Honeyoe lake, I'll go up to the pond and kill a few bullfrogs to add to the fishfry. They are really good, and fun to "hunt" with my old longbow or BB gun.
  11. I hunted Keeney swamp in Birdsall for a few years. I never killed one there, but my partners got 2. Lots of guys in there, and several access points. You can get away from the crowds though. I hunt Hi-Tor in naples for squirrel, never seen another small gamer in there. I know a spot way back in the woods in Naples that has ELK if you are willing to hike there. You go down the back hill, and there they are, standing around , you just shoot one, cut the 8 FT fence to get him out, and presto! They have these funny little tags in their ears tho, must be some kind of DEC monitoring study.
  12. Nice looking cat! You gonna have him mounted? Is it common to get them where you are? I've never seen one.
  13. Nice job! Very neat to have a pic of it's owner. Good luck on your next trip.
  14. You guys are right. I consider myself a conservative, not always a republican.
  15. Stubbz, it's going to be my girlfriend's first time also. I'm going to focus on trying to get her a bird this spring, instead of hunting for myself. I think I'm more excited than when I'm shooting.
  16. I really don't think that's possible, do you? Someone's religion forms their outlook on life, including politics.
  17. Good point, Buck. Like I said before, right wing thinking happens to fall in line with many Christian views. I'm not sure how many religions in the world condone abortion or gay marriage, but most political ideology is built around some sort of religious belief. I know how I feel about abortion and gay marriage, but it's not for me to judge. I think that if you willingly spread your legs, you should be able to deal with the consequences, by giving birth, getting a job, and raising your child responsibly. I don't believe in gay marriage, but who cares, I'm not the one who they will have to answer to. I won't support either one of those issues because they conflict with my beliefs, but that is my choice. You're right, most conservatives don't believe in gay marriage or abortion. In general though, libs are far more willing to push their views on others.
  18. I don't care what religion you are, worship as you like, and grant me the same courtesy. If you can put a prayer rug in a public place, you shouldn't whine when I put up a cross.
  19. Early, do you possess the abillity to make an intelligent point on here? All you have done is jump in at every chance, and make a childish insult. Grow up. Same could be said for liberalism, it's a cult, a mental disorder. Lefties want to force their liberal views and policies on everybody. Righties pretty much want to be left alone. Most want to earn their own money, raise their kids the way that they feel is right, be able to make their own decisions in life based on the values they were taught, and preserve fundamental freedoms. The whole lib mindset is built around forcing others to do what they think is for the common "good", through intimidation, ridicule, and legislation. The liberal government has it's hands into everything. It is doing it's best to erode freedom. For the love of god, they call the Constitution an "outdated" document! I want to keep the money I earn, unless I decide to give it away. I want to decide for myself what is ethical / moral, based on my values / beliefs. I will worship the way I want to. I will not tolerate my basic rights being stripped by the government, regardless of how they say it's for the safety or benefit of all. If you want to let your money be taken away, let the gov't rape your freedoms, or let someone else make every major decision for you, that is your choice.
  20. It's entirely possible to be a conservative without calling yourself a Christian. IMHO, it just so happens that many Christian views fall in line with the right wing way of thinking.
