Thanks guys. LOL Pygmy, I never have much luck chasing them in a monsoon, I am counting on the next tsunami tho, maybe it'll wash some by me. Single shot, I wish I'd talked to you last night. I just got back from Dick's, bought the BSA. Thankyou for the offer though, and thankyou for your USAR service. Kurt

That's a great blessing. You get any camo onesies for her yet?
-
Cool. Pics?

Do you have any steelhead pics for us?

Thanks for the feedback. I noticed the adjustment thing on there too, it came with 3 different adjustment knobs, one for each different grain weight 22 bullet. Seems a little stupid. I like the scope though. Makes me feel better that you like yours.

OK guys, I want to get my kid a scope for his 22. Went to the Webster Dick's this morning. They have 2 that I was looking at. One was a fixed 4X mag Bushnell, the other was a BSA adjustable, it was called a "Sweet 22" I'm leaning towards the BSA. Both are the same price, $59.99. Anybody care to weigh in on which one of these might be a better product?

Barn pigeon is good stuff. Never tried a red, but I think I will now.

Enjoy it while you can. Only 364 days and a wake-up until the end of the world.

Ok, what do you think is the solution? When a demand is made on seasons or weapons are you then required to simply let it happen without a single dissenting word? Do you agree with every proposed change that comes along? Don't you have any opinions that you feel are worth fighting for? In the name of harmony is it your duty to ditch all your opinions and beliefs? Don't you people understand that everything involved in the legalities of the way we hunt have always been the result of viscious infighting, debate. And yes, a lot of those look like attacks ...... what the heck, a lot of them are. In my previous reply, I talked about attacks on the shotgun/rifle people and the opinions that chunks of their season should be replaced with additional muzzleloader season. Should they just roll over and say "yes sir, in the spirit of harmony, take my season"? Is that a reasonable response? Is that what you are expecting of them? Well, it's pretty obvious that that probably will not happen. If that opinion ever gains any traction, expect a huge battle as viscious as any that is going on now or ever has. As long as you have special seasons, you will have turf wars, and some rather unfriendly sounding discussions about when and how long those seasons should be and what is allowed in those seasons. Some will call that stuff "elitism", others will call it maintaining traditions, others will call it evolution of technology, some may have strong feelings about the fairness of some changes. Probably all will have some element of truth and correctness, but the whole process will always look like battle. I sure don't like this way of settling things but I haven't heard anyone come up with any more reasonable approaches that have a chance in hell of ever working. But I sure am open to any suggestions. I never claimed to have any answers. Obviously, it is not going to be all "roses and sunshine" all of the time. No one likes to feel like their season is being negatively impacted by the desires of another group of sportsmen. I have some pretty strong opinions, a few of which I have pointed out clearly in other threads. When you change anything in our sport, you will have a negative effect on SOMEBODY. I might not like AR's, and I'll argue about it until I'm blue, but I sure as hell try not to attack someone on a personal level. That kind of crap is what I was referring to. Personal attacks, and belittling comments are for kids. The most important thing to me is that we DO hunt, that we are able to CONTINUE to hunt, as well as get MORE people into it. I realize that there will be disagreements, but give me one good reason why it can't be handled like adults? We claim as a group to be such great stewards of nature, conservationists, and upstanding, responsible citizens, yet we go after eachother like high school girls. That makes us look great Doc. What do you propose? Cage fights? Mud wrestling? Or should we all just start b*tch slapping and pulling eachother's hair?

We're pretty much screwed in the long run. The anti's could sit back and watch us destroy ourselves with internal conflict. Between our own bickering and the pressure from the anti's, we really need to smarten up if we want to exist much longer.

I'm glad it's over. Deer hunting is like a serious business, fun but it requires 110% dedication. I'm glad to be back into small game.

"Guys?, GUUUYYYYS?, what the hell Bruce, where the crap is everybody?"
-
Good luck. You hunt with beagles?

A little off topic, but am I the only one who thinks Jim Shockey is one annoying S.O.B.? He comes off as an arrogant, over - privileged, know it all. I'd like to walk up and b*tch slap him. Just wondering.

WOOLY! That one cuts deep! I wish you would quit hiding in my closet. LMAO

I kill every red I see, they are nasty. Always chasing the greys around. I read that they will kill baby greys, and can even castrate adults greys by biting them.

What about Anticosti island? I'm not sure how late their season goes, but it seems like it's affordable with pretty high success.

Dave, I went to their site for you. It's down while they update it. The number there is 207-528-2936 or try 207-353-7004. It's a great place, and unless they've changed it too much, a great hunt.

Dave, when I went, it was 99', 00', & 01'. I actually worked for the guy on my summers from school. In return for my help baiting and prepping the camp, I hunted for free. I believe he charged $900.00. I'm sure it's more now. My bears were 175# & 220#, not giants, but nice bears.

Well played 13B

Truck is packed. Heading to camp after work tonight. Weather looks good for the weekend. Hopefully the squirrels are out. With all the talk about AR lately, I hope they don't try to put some kind of Quality Squirrel Management (QSM) into place.

Went to Driftwood lodge in Shin Pond Maine for 3 years in a row. Back when it was owned by Harold Schmidt. He died, but it's owned now by Paul Reed, I think. It's a good operation. The 3 yrs I hunted there, I killed 2 bears, and missed one.
