  1. Finally was able to do some more work on my woodshed after a 3 week delay from my illness. Had my brother, son, and neighbor's kid do the heavy stuff while i did the measuring and cutting. Still not finished though. Have 3 cords of wood split and waiting for delivery sitting at my in-laws. Hopefully by next weekend it will be done if I do not head up to the house.
  2. My wife and I just finished cleaning up my daughter's room at home and found a ton of shoes, a bunch of clothes and other stuff. I texted my daughter and told her you forgot things. Her response was: "No i didn't. I'm bringing those back with me when I visit in October." WTF? And where does she think she is going to put them in those small dorm room closets?
  3. Perhaps Mr Irving forgot this passage from the Bible. Isaac said, "Behold now, I am old and I do not know the day of my death. 3"Now then, please take your gear, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me; 4and prepare a savory dish for me such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, so that my soul may bless you before I die."…
  4. Grow, perhaps after 4 months they may have to fumigate her room too! If you could only see the way she left her room in my house..... OMG! Lol
  5. Sure is LD. We had our neighbor's son help out with the heavy stuff and we only had to go up 4 floors. Still was tough and we had two vehicles filled to the gills. Although shes only 40 mins to 1 hr away this will be good for the family ...
  6. Hey Growie, shes in the same dorm room until May. So i'll need to squeeze her move back home in between my turkey hunting.
  7. My daughter into her dorm at SJU. What a long day. ...... getting everything in there, unboxing, setting up and finally cleaning up. Never thought an 18yo girl could have so much stuff. We are headed back tomorrow for family events and then we say good bye until Mid October when we see her again. Finally the house will be a bit more sane and quiet. - Deerthug
  8. Today for me and my son at Dicks. Unfortunately due to family obligations fall turkey will not be happening for us this year. But we got our regular season, DMPs for 4Y and my bow. Can't wait to get out there. Also picked up some ammo... Interestingly they have the large caliber ammo out on shelves and no longer behind the counter. Hmmmm
  9. So last week I develop pain in my left side and i go to my primary Dr. who sends me for a CT Scan to rule out diverticulitis. My wonderful insurance company would only pay for a CT Scan with the dye, so I go to have it done last Wednesday. I've had MRI's with dye in the past without any issues. I tell this to the nurse as she is injecting me with this poison, she tells me "Oh this one is different. It contains Iodine." I immediately feel a tingling sensation in my lower right lip and a warm sensation in my nether regions sort of like peeing myself but that went away. Didn't think much of it. I go home and the next day the tingling gets worse and my lips start getting numb. The next day it extends to the right side of my jaw line and seems like its concentrated in the right lower chin area extending into my cheek. I go back to my primary Dr. and she tells me to take Benadryl. I take it religiously over the next few days. Numbness still there. Monday I call my neurologist and I see him. He sends me for MRI of Brain, to check the trigeminal nerve which runs along the jaw line and branches off to different areas. He tells me its normal. Then he sends me for MRI of the Neck and Midback to rule out any spinal lesions that could be the cause of this. I tell him I immediately felt it when the dye was injected. He is concerned that the iodine may have triggered an autoimmune response where my body is fighting this poison. He is also concerned that this may be the start of Multiple Sclerosis - which is probably not since the MRI's came back normal. So he puts me on a 4 day regiment of IV steroids which is an at home treatment. (Which I had done three years ago when I had numbness and tingling in my legs up to my chest area and it did the trick) Now I'm dealing with the only agency around to get them in today but they are short on nurses and they tell me Sunday is the earliest they can get here. Last night my wife tells me, "I don't want you going hunting this fall unless you are 110% better." I just looked at her and walked away . . . . This really sucks big time.... feels like I've been shot up with 10 needles of novocaine. Can't feel my lips or part of my chin. All my plans to finish my woodshed, go up to the cabin and get the stands and blinds ready and even going to renew my license has been put on hold until I get this poison out of me, and lets not even mention how this has broken my concentration at work. Has anyone ever had a problem like this where they were injected with the Dye and felt some kind of bad reaction?? I am interested to know because I am considering filing a class action lawsuit to get this poison banned. Thanks for reading . . . An extremely pissed off and frustrated Deerthug
  10. No effect in my area 4Y but those brown lines are getting too close for comfort. I'm more upset that Fall Turkey is down to 2 weeks and limits are down to 1 tag. I was hoping to get my son out there in the woods for more than just 2 weekends. Oh well, thankfully his regular firearm season was not affected.
  11. My plans to head up this weekend with my son were thwarted by the following: "So when are you planning on finishing the woodshed?" Guess what I'll be doing this weekend with my son??? LOL Enjoy Burt!
  12. I thought you wrote "giggling". Lol. I was expecting to see pictures of someone tickling you!! Lol!
  13. Thanks for the info. I'm not licensed but in the process my self. I know another neighbor who is licensed. I will look into it for him. Thanks again all.
  14. My neighbor's wife passed last week from cancer at a young age. She was licensed to carry and also premises. Her husband does not have a license to possess or carry. Three days after his wife died, Nassau County police called his home demanding that he turn in his wife's firearms and that if he wants to get them back he needs to apply for a license. He is concerned that once he turns the firearms in he will never see them again. He experienced this with his father 3 years ago in NYC. His father committed suicide with one of his licensed firearms. NYC police came in and confiscated all the firearms including rifles, shotguns etc. He was an avid collector and there are some valuable firearms in the mix. NYC Police have been in possession of these firearms for three years now. I did a google search and I found only one attorney in NYC - John Chambers - who handles gun cases but from the website it looks as if he represents people who were charged with illegal possession and the like. I have no legal experience in this field and I am open to suggestions. Anyone have any experience with similar situations? Thanks, DT
  15. Thanks Doc! On the otherside of the brick wall is my den with the new woodstove. There is a door off the rear patio leading to the den and the garage is around the white gate. I usually load a wagon with wood and bring it into the garage for easy access. So I think I'm good to go.
  16. Rather than heading up to camp this weekend where it's going to be in the 90's and no AC, I will be finishing my project. Will post pics when done.
  17. Thanks guys. I went from a 6 x 4 rubbermaid shed to 10' x 6' and height 76" in front and 56" in the rear. Should hold about 2 cords. Also have room on other side of house to store unseasoned wood. Now i just need to get the wood in there to start seasoning it!
  18. I use microsoft moviemaker. Works well. And its usually preloaded on a PC.
  19. I decided to build a woodshed to hold my firewood. The rubbermaid prefab shed I used to use can no longer support the loads of wood I stacked causing the walls to bow out creating large gaps and allowing rain and snow to come in. So this year I decided to build a wood shed. With the help of my son and his soon to be Eagle Scout friend we build the base, floor and posts last weekend. Today I plumbed the posts and secured them with 10' pressure treated 2 x 4's. Next weekend the T1-111 siding will be going up and the roof will hopefully be completed, leaving the doors for another weekend.
  20. Get ready for more gun control nonsense. ......I guess the Louisiana and Tennessee governments have not learned that gun fee zone signs don't Work . I had enough. It's time to apply for my CCW permit ... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk

  23. For those who cant access the link.... DEC Announces Adoption of New Fall Hunting Seasons for Wild Turkey - A New DEC Press Release 07/22/2015 DEC Announces Adoption of New Fall Hunting Seasons for Wild Turkey Season Changes Reflect Recent Population Assessments and Management Needs The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today adopted new regulations to shorten fall turkey hunting seasons in New York State due to a declining turkey population across the state. The new fall seasons are two weeks long with a statewide season bag limit of one bird of either sex. Season dates vary regionally with the season in the Northern Zone running October 1-14, the Southern Zone running October 17-30, and Suffolk County (Long Island) running November 21-December 4. "Declining wild turkey populations across the state make it necessary to shorten the hunting season," DEC Commissioner Joe Martens said. "It is important to responsibly manage New York's wild turkey populations to ensure that future generations of hunters have the opportunity to go afield." DEC received approximately 120 comments on the regulatory proposal. Almost all of the comments received expressed concern over the decline in wild turkey populations over the past 15 years, and many were supportive of DEC's efforts to modify the fall hunting season to accommodate changing turkey populations and environmental conditions. The new regulations are part of a multi-year study to understand and respond to long-term declines in turkey populations and to ensure that harvest opportunities are sustainable. The new fall hunting season structure is based on the results of research conducted by DEC and its partners on ecological and social factors that influence turkey populations and turkey management. This included: a study of how weather and landscape-scale habitat features interact and influence the number of turkeys found in different parts of the state; surveys of turkey hunters to identify what they value in terms of turkey populations, a high-quality hunting experience, and the trade-offs they are willing to make between hunting opportunity and turkey abundance; and field research where more than 450 hen turkeys are banded annually, some with satellite radios, so biologists can determine their survival and fall harvest rates. Based on those studies, DEC concluded that the best way to enhance turkey populations while maintaining some fall hunting opportunity was to offer a two-week season in all areas of the state, with a seasonal limit of one bird of either sex. Season dates are staggered among three broad regions, which will provide more avid hunters the chance to hunt turkeys for more than just two weeks. This represents a reduced season length in most of the state and a modest increase in season length for Long Island. The new fall hunting season changes will be evaluated as part of a four-year research program. DEC staff continues to band and track hens in 2015 and 2016 to help evaluate the effects of fall season changes on hen harvest and survival. This information will be used along with information on turkey abundance, productivity, and hunter activity and harvest data collected annually to determine future fall harvest opportunities that are sustainable under current environmental conditions and trends in turkey populations. The Notice of Adoption for this regulation is published in issue 29 of the New York State Register, dated July 22, 2015.
