  1. I let them rip all the time. I let one rip just as i squeezed the trigger on my last 8ptr 2 years ago. Hmmm. I wonder if thats what made him quarter away from me at the last second???
  2. Been busy working 6 days a week and trying to build a woodshed in between which I was hoping would be done by now but i'm either working or the wife making plans every weekend. Have some other DIY projects on the list but probably will not get done. Need to find time to get the bow out and also take my son to the shooting range. Have not been up to the house since Mid-may. Probably have 4000 pics to go through. Hoping to get up there end of July with him. And yes ..... This summer is flying by..... The older we get the faster it goes...
  3. Welcome to the brother/sisterhood! Lots to learn here about hunting. I too was a newbie some years ago and found this forum which helped me gain valuable hunting and conservation knowledge. Just remember it's not about the kill, it's about the time you spend in God's country with nothing but your gear and watching God's creatures waking up the woods around you!
  4. Happy Birthday Paula! Hope you enjoy your day!
  5. http://griffinsguide.com/content/2015/06/28/bear-takes-down-deer-in-colorado-mans-backyard-video/ Scroll down for the video. I saw this posted on Facebook and read some of the comments.. I was wondering what my fellow hunters would have done in this situation. I personally could not watch the entire video. Although this is part of nature and the so-called circle of life, I would have killed the bear without taking a second thought and then i would put the deer down and out of its misery, because if this was in a residential area with children and pets outside, who knows what the next meal would have been for this bear. Now If this happened in the woods I would have let nature take it's course except if the bear attacked my 10 point buck I just shot, the bear would be a goner as well (provided of course that bear was in season) So what would you do?
  6. So sorry for your loss. I've lost one dog when I was in my 20's. Brandy lived with my parents until she was 14. She had a major tumor and would not have survived surgery. She suffered for a few weeks until we had no choice. I moved out a few years before and it did not faze me too much. But my present pooch Milo is like my third child. He's only 3 but I can't imagine having to put him down when his time comes. I tell my wife that the best thing to do is get another. She refuses. We shall see. Until then..... I'll enjoy Milo's company for as many years as I he gives us.
  7. Thanks all. She gets all the credit! There is always gas money for hunting! Lol. Work or shopping with the wife well.... that's another story...unless of course the shopping is for new hunting supplies ....Lol
  8. Congrats on the new venture! By the way I love Milano Melts and Verona strawberry or apricot just in case you are anywhere near Oyster Bay in your travels!
  9. No damage just a lawn full of ice pellets. Have not seen this in 30 years.
  10. My daughter also finished a karate course 2 years ago called Tactical Solutions for Defense - which is taught to military and police. Its basically survival and street fighting. She finally learned why God gave her knees and thumbs and now she knows how to use them!
  11. So..... Whats your 5 year plan?? LOL!
  12. I went through this with my daughter at 16 wanting to date and having a boyfriend. At 17 she ended up with a kid she grew up with through school and in her karate program. My wife and I trusted him but he turned out to be an a$$ and coldhearted. In march 2014 when we lost my sister in law to cancer, and to whom my daughter looked up to as her second mom, my daughter was devastated and unconsolable. He was more concerned about becoming an RA at his college than being there for her. Needless to say she dumped his a$$ right after that and basically the word boyfriend has not come up since then. And now that she is going away to college she is looking forward to closing that chapter in her life and hopefully moving on to bigger and better things. As far as letting them go out or staying at home to watch movies, i would rather have them in my house while I'm home than out and about. On the other hand if she has an iPhone, " he find my iPhone" app works really well if you know what i mean. As far as trusting him or your daughter, if you raised your daughter right by giving her strong moral values, and knowing that she has a good head on her shoulders, then I would not be too worried. But one thing is for sure, no matter how old they get as a father you never stop worrying about them. But I guess they need to live and learn and hopefully they will take some of our advice as parents.
  13. Happy Birthday Culver! Break out the hammock, put on some relaxing music and grab a cold one, or two , three....
  14. Thanks JRM!!!! It worked!!!! I followed the instructions and downloaded the control center and oh my gosh... I am using my standard size keyboard with number pad and optical mouse working! I never thought it would work!!
  15. Welcome to the forum. Lots to learn from good people here. I married into an Italian family 23 years ago and they finally got me hooked about 7 years ago. Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  16. That is a $130 option for the keyboard but I would need it anyway. Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  17. I already have an iMac as a desktop and I'm happy with it but since upgrading to Yosemite OS many of the office programs crash on me and I have to do restarts. Big mistake to upgrade!!! Moreover, my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse which I love and I have used forever is not compatible no matter what software I download on my iMac to try and make it compatible. Never had a problem before with the prior OS. So now I'm stuck with this little dinky bluetooth apple keyboard with my fat Greek hands. LOL! As far as getting a Macbook Air, I will be taking my daughter's Macbook Pro and clearing it as she will be getting a new one from her grandparents for her HS graduation. So I will have that also available to me. Maybe I'll just upgraded to a new tablet . . . perhaps the newest Samsung Galaxy tab?? Hmmmm...... something to think about.
  18. Thanks for the input WNY. I like the idea of having the flexibility of a touch tablet as well as the ability to use it as a laptop when necessary.
  19. I am looking for a lightweight tablet or laptop with keyboard to run Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel. I will be using this primarily for taking notes and email. I also want to be able to connect to my office computer using Teamviewer (which I already use now) or some other connectivity software. I have an Ipad 2 which I now use for this purpose but it has become slow and the screen is too small for my old eyes. Also the word processing software is not so good. So I was thinking of the Surface Pro 3 12" screen running i5 processor with 256g and 8g RAM. Any other suggestions??? Thank you in advance. Jordan
