  1. Sorry to hear about the bad luck but congrats on the soon to be newborn. As my sister in law used to say (may she RIP), "Everything always works out in the end." Keep that in mind ....
  2. Price now down to $900. Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  3. Milo! That's my pooch's name. He looks like a milo. Here's my Milo! Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  4. I was thinking of going into the management and marketing end of my dad's fur business but he told me I would have to sit behind the machines, sewing the skins together for 12 hour days. I tried it working for a week during one summer and I got blisters on my a$$ and fur up my nose and then with some coaxing from my dad I quit. That's when I ended up going to law school. Lol
  5. As a teen = Shopping cart boy, cashier, stock-boy. Then during college years = publishing co in shipping dept, bank teller, law clerk at a law firm during the 1980's real estate boom which then led to law school and a becoming a lawyer for 25 years now handling both sides of personal injury cases (plaintiff and defense). Almost ended up in the fur manufacturing business during college but was very glad that did not happen.
  6. 13/15 for me. Never saw news reels and don't remember part lines.
  7. I looked at pellet stoves and did a lot of research. I Decided on a new woodstove because: 1. Need electricty to run pellet stove - power outage I'm out of luck. During 4 days of no power during Sandy my woodstove was cranking, cooked on it and heated my house. 2. Pellet stoves have too many mechanical parts to break. Woodstove has no mechanical parts 3. Still need to lug 40lb bags of pelelts around 4. Need to store the pellets in dry location and secure enough that rodents don't get in 5 If the bag of pellets get wet, they turn to sawdust. If wood gets wet uncover it and it dries. 6. I like the smell of burning wood.
  8. Ran out of last years left overs and another cord i got in January. I get jeeploads on weekends from my BIL. Its a PIA. This summer I'm ordering 3 cords.
  9. So sorry for the loss of your pup. I lost a dog when I was in my 20's but it did not affect me much, maybe because she lived with my parents until she had to be put down and I was married and out of the house for several years already. I am so attached to my pooch now who is 3 yo. I know My wife and I are going to ball for days when he passes because we are so attached to each other. They do become part of your life even when it becomes a pain to have to take them out in a foot of snow and when its 2 degrees out. I hope it gets easier for you to deal with his passing.
  10. Brrrr... Get back inside and stoke the stove Burt! I'm sitting in my den next to my wood stove watching the news with my pooch lying between my legs and enjoying some 21 yo single malt. (I'm drinking the scotch not the pooch) LOL
  11. I am selling this stove as I'm upgrading to a new model. This still burns well. Great for garage or workshop. Needs some cosmetic work and gaskets. Asking $975 or best offer. You must arrange for pickup. Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  12. Dom, Tried to send pictures through the messenger but could not attach them. So here is my current set up... Fire is lit so I can't take photos of inside right now.
  13. I don't know probably sell it on craigslist. Needs work though i.e. new interior bricks, gaskets, and probably a good sandblasting and painting. It's a Forest green enamel color. If you're interested or know someone who maybe interested I can send you pictures.
  14. Yeah keep it all up there please!! I'm sick of this weather already! Oh yeah be careful out there if you have to go out!
  15. Thank your lucky stars Joe. It could have been a lot worse from your description of the accident. In my line of work I've seen thousands of car accident cases where the cars have been destroyed to the point where the make of the vehicle was unidentifiable and the passengers came out with out so much as a scratch. God was certainly watching over you and your crew.
  16. After a lot of research I decided on getting another wood burning stove to replace my 22 year old resolute acclaim. I've narrowed it down to the following: I am leaning toward the first and the second because of the side load doors. I am not that crazy about the last one because it is a Vermont Castings and my old one was expensive to maintain the replaceable parts. I found out that the pellet stoves were too expensive to install - need to install a stainless steel piping into my masonry chimney. I want something I can have delivered and stick the pipes into the opening.
  17. But I am still not sure whether to go with wood burning, pellet or coal. I've had a wood stove for 20+ years and have been cutting, splitting and stacking/storing wood for that long, and I'm getting tired of it. I used to get the wood cut and split for free since my brother in law is a landscaper. But the last few years I had to buy cords of wood since I run quickly out of the initial supply. I've done research on pellet stoves and like the idea but am concerned about the blower being noisy and losing power making the stove useless. Any thoughts? Last night a friend told me about coal burning stoves and I did some research on them. I don't know much about them other than what I read online. Does any one use or had used coal burning stoves and if so what was your experience, whether good or bad! I am partial to the Vermont Casting Vigilant II coal stove based on the ones I saw as the one I choose needs to be freestanding in my den and I like its appealing look. I like to make a decision in the next 4 weeks as I hear the stove places are looking to get rid of inventory and would get the best deal at that time. Thanks.
  18. Found two packs of ground venison from a year ago in my freezer, frozen solid and still vacuum sealed. No better day than Super Bowl Sunday to make some chili and wings for dinner tonight. Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  19. Thank you for all the congrats but they all go to my daughter. Today we spent all day at Garden City HS for indivdual competitions and after all was said and done she came in 5th out of the 20 top elite foils but she remains 4th All-County!
  20. Hopefully Plan B turns out better than Plan A as long as Plan B keeps you closer to family. Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  21. Thanks guys! Took 5 years but nice way to finish off her senior year in HS. Sent with Tapatalk on my Samsung Galaxy 4
  22. I received a great birthday present today. I found out that my daughter is ranked #4 out of 100 foil fencers in all of Nassau County High Schools. She's the 4th girl listed below: I'm a very proud Dad!
  23. Thanks everyone! My wife and kids took me out to dinner to a great little Greek seafood restaurant in Huntington called Kima (Κημα) meaning "Wave". Food was great! Company was even better! Looking forward to a great year ahead hopefully bringing me some turkey in the spring and venison in November.
