  1. I have a leoupold 2-7 scope and believe they are weaver rings. I bought mine at Beikirchs and they set it up there, but were very knowledgeable (llike they always are) about what mounts to use and why.. I know that some people have had issues with 3" slugs ejecting and believe that is due to an issue with mounting the scope incorrectly. I have never had an issue with my gun and am always amazed at how accurate it is. Since you are in Ontario, I would suggest a trip over there to ensure you get it right. Plus, I have always found their pricies to be very good (..not to mention the advice and expertise is priceless).. Good Luck
  2. I've had one for a few years.. looks like a rifle and shoots like a rifle.. I have yet to see something better... Also, have never had a problem with it.. Shoot Federal Barnes Expanders, 3"
  3. I got a 2012 in July... Driving back and forth to work and here and there, the gas mileage is very good (generally about 18.5), but most of my driving is country road and highway.. It is still better than the Silverado I replaced. Towing is a differnt story.. My wife uses it to tow a horse trailer and the mileage drops significantly when towing. that said, the power is fantastic. She went to Albany last weekend and commented about how well it handled the hills east of Syarcuse on 90. If gas mileage is a concern, then I would look at the f-150 witht he Eco-Boost engine.. I have heard great things. I will tell you that the ride and the interior in the dodge are second to none (IMO)..
  4. ***Updated Price*** I have the following 20 Gauge Sabots for sale... 2 3/4" Lightfield Sabots - 1 box of 5 and 4 loose rounds (9 rounds total). $15 takes them all 2 3/4" Winchester Platinum Tip Supreme - 1 box of 5 and 3 loose rounds (8 rounds total). $15 takes them all By all 17 rounds for $25.. Located in Rochester Area.. This is a fairly inexpensive way to test some different sabots. My gun seems to shoot federals the best, so that is why I am looking to pass these on to someone else. email me at [email protected]

  10. Match!! You are amazing and extremely dedicated.. I look forward to your posts.. I have to imagine that a lot of people read your posts and say "that guy is lucky"... I have always figured it is not luck at all.. Any idea how many hours you have spent looking this year? I am sure it is a number that will shock a lot of people on this board.
  11. The "good spring weather"/"bad spring weather" thing works itself out over time, so I don't think that is it. I think the predetors are the problem. It often takes place before the eggs hatch.. I think the fox and coyotes eat the eggs every chance they get. Every time they find a nest it is 100% devestation... I have seen that on my property. It doesn't seem that long ago that I would be up in my stand during bow season on a nice quite morning and would get all pissed off when 30 or 40 birds would come scratching thier way through the woods. You could hear them coming from a mile away. Boy would I love to hear that sound these days.
  12. I have a 5 foot tiller for my 30hp tractor.. It works great.. I tilled and planted about 4 acres last year. This is my process... Mow the area I am going to till as low as I can.. Then I spray it with roundup or similar chemical. Wait 2 weeks until everything is really dead and then I till.. After tilling I roll the area, seed and then roll it again... I have been doing this for about 5 years and all I will tell you is that the most impartnat part is killing what is there first. If you don't, the weeds are uncontrollable and the plot will suffer.
  13. 2005 Envoy SLE 4x4. This is a one owner vehicle and has always been meticulously maintained. It has 160,xxx highway miles. The vehicle is in excellent shape and looks great, as you can see from the attached pictures. It has the 4200 inline 6 cyl engine, power moon roof, Bose Premium sound with 6 cd changer, luggage rack, 17 inch aluminum wheels and much more. It has brand new Firestone All Season Tires, plus muffler and brakes were recently replaced (2011). The only thing that we know to be wrong with the vehicle is the gas gauge does not work (..we simply keep track manually) and the rear glass does not open (..the tailgate works fine). Other than that this vehicle is very sound. Located in Hamlin, NY (14464) New Price $4,500 Call Tom at 585-738-9163
  14. I have one with a Leupold 3 to 7 scope and am using 3" federal barnes expanders... I am amazed at how it performs on the range and even more amazed at how it performs in the field... I have a 5 or 6 acre square field that I lilke to hunt.. I built a blind out of hay bales, which provides me a good rest.. With that gun, anything that steps out into the field is shootable... That was not the case prior to buying this gun.... I am looking for a .270 and am certain that I will buy a savage.. The Accu-Trigger is fantastic and would like to have it on all of the guns that I shoot..
  15. I actually prefer the quartering towards me shot.. With that angle, if you hit them just inside the shoulder it is deadly.. Got a doe that way last weekend and destroyed her heart... It is a shot I am very comfortable with.. Like others have said, you should never take a shot you are not comfortable with..
  16. kubota... great diesel engine, hydraulic tilt bed... I have had one for 4 years and wwould never think about buying anything else.. I know others that have them and feel the same way..
  17. Rattling seems to work pretty consistently for me... I think the key is not rattling to much or to often... I usually wait til about 9am on morning hunts and then ratlle 3 or 4 sequences, with 15 minute intervals.. I always use real horns (not synthetic and not a rattle bag)... I would say that it works 50% of the time... What I have experienced is that often times smaller bucks will respond right away and the more mature bucks seem to hang back and are more cautious... Called in a couple of real nice bucks last year and they both came to the 3rd or 4th sequence of rattling.. I agree that the doe bleat is a very good call as well. For me, it seems to work better in the evening
  18. Thanks for the great idea.. I have a couple of shepards hooks laying around and now know what to do with them.. i have a spot that I want to put a camera on the edge of a filed and hadn't come up with anything, until now...
  19. Any one looking for a really good camera, try out the Scoutguard 550... It is small and one set of 8AA batteries lasts 6 months.. They are not sold at cabelas or BPS, so they are lesser known.. I have seen others on this site post pictures taken by these cameras, so would like ot get others opinions as well.. I am going on my 3rd season with them and they just keep performing.... i have one of the new Cuddebacks (Attack IR) and prefer the 550's. Video capability is fantastic as well.. Here is a link... http://scoutguard550.com/store.html
  20. I have a Mathews Outback bow for sale. It is right handed, 27.5" draw with a loop. It is 60# draw. The sticker on the bow says 70# draw weight, but I know when I ordered it it was a 60#, since I was replacing the 70# bow I already had. It comes with a Montana Black Gold fiber optic site, Whisker Biscuit rest and a dozen PSE Carbon Arrows (..a couple need inserts and a couple need a fletch replaced, but all in good shape). String is in good shape and it has always been professionally maintained Great set-up at a reasonable price of $475... The only reason I am gettng rid of it is I got a new Z-9 as a birthday gift. I've got a place to shoot it her at the house if you come look at it. I am located west of Rochester email or call 585 738 9163
