I would hate to be out deer hunting during gun season when some dumb ass thinks it light enough out to start shooting . Actually , I have and hope the tree you are in is big enough to protect you . Shooting before sunrise or after sunset in NYS is poaching !

Nothing like a person stating he would break a law because it doesn't suit him ! What a crock ! Don't do the CRIME if you can't pay the FINE !

Oh yeah , the farmer had left me a voice mail so I called him . He said he saw a dead 7 point in the neighbor's field a couple days ago and it was pretty well eaten up . No idea of what happened . I wonder if one of the guys that hunt that property hit it or if it may have been hit by a car and died out there . Not sure if I have a 7 point on any of the trail cams .

Was in my stand by 6:15 . Sat and waited . At 7:04 am I saw 3 anterless deer running south in the middle of the neighbor's field . They were up wind of my location but something must have spooked them . Nothing after that . I got down at 10 am as my clothes were pretty wet . Checked my Trail Cams . Had a message on my phone that my SIL was talking to her farmer behind the house and they saw a 10 point buck out behind her Sumac . Sucked to hear that . Decided to come home and dry out my clothes .

I will be heading for Geneseo shortly . My SIL needs help putting hay in her barn loft so I figured it would be an opportunity for a morning hunt . Maybe today will be the day . Trying to be optimistic . Morning hunt , hay in barn , then my wife wants to go out for dinner . Busy day !

Thanks , I saw them in the Venison Donations pamphlet but wanted some 1st hand reviews . Rice road is off of 444 btn Rt 64 and Victor Mendon rd so it wouldn't be too far from my son's home .

I might flip a coin to decide . Either my New England Firearms single shot 25-06 or my Savage 220 slug gun . I have gotten several deer with the 25-06 but only took the 20 gauge out once . I bought the Savage in the spring of the year they allowed rifles in our area .

I have been using a single pin sight on two different bows for a few years . I bought a 5 pin lighted sight and decided not to change from the single pin . No reason to change .

Met 2 of my sons at a spot in South Bristol and we hunted along a couple of gullies . Matt and I were on the North side and Nick was on the south side . Matt was 100+ yards down the hill from me . He said there were 10 turkeys roosting in the tree next to him and the flew across the gully . He saw 2 different bucks but nothing close enough to shoot with his cross bow . I wasn't seeing anything ! At 9:18 , I got a text from Nick ... "Buck down" . He had put out a couple of scent sticks which drew the buck in . He saw a doe and 2 fawns headed his way after shooting the buck but when they got a whiff of the scent sticks , they took off . A fairly good size 10 point but the tines weren't very big in diameter . A 10 point no less . Around 10:30 Matt and I headed over to help Nick get the deer out of the gully . Matt and Nick dragged it on the sled but it still was a chore . Once out of the gully , they got the other land owners permission to drive down in the field and get the deer . We were looking it over and noticed some ticks . So , they spent some time pulling them off of the deer . They left to head back to Honeoye Falls to take care of the deer and told me that if I stayed and got a deer to call and they would come back . Around 3:45 , I saw 5 anter less across the small gully along the edge of the grassy field . They headed south rather than come my way . Later I saw 3 more . I left the stand at 4:30 . Got to the car and called to let the boys know that they were off the hook and didn't have to return . On the way out I spotted two bucks . So it wasn't an uneventful day after all but ........ I hate getting up at 3 in the morning !
