  1. Looks like I will have 2 less weeks of bow hunting . It shouldn't affect the areas I have to bow hunt as there won't be any cross bow hunting there .
  2. We have a Gibson upright freezer that we bought the year we bought our house ( 1969 ) . That baby is still working . The chest freezer I bought to store my venison lasted 13 months ........
  3. I had my 7 cu ft Sears chest freezer die on me a couple years ago . It lasted one month past warranty expiration ( one year ) . Lost all my venison . I bought a GE at Home Depot and bought a 4 year extended warranty that starts after the one year after the original warranty runs out . I bought an indoor / outdoor wireless thermometer and put the sensor in the new freezer and have the reading unit next to me at my computer . It's 4.3 degrees right now .
  4. I prefer at least a 20 yard shot . I don't like to be right on a trail ( too close ) . Then again , my 1st bow kill was a 7 point buck at about 6 yards .
  5. Skyhunter --- thanks for the input . I usually have my cameras facing North but I wanted this to face the deer trail . I figured it was thick enough whereby I wouldn't get too much sun . I have also found that when I have the cameras facing north that many more pics are taken as the sensors must pick up the shadow movement . I am also aware that limbs , leaves blowing will trip the camera . There are so many deer trails through here that it is is hard to determine where the deer will travel at any given time .
  6. I think the deer was a Liberal coming for a free handout !
  7. Looks like it's drawing them in ........
  8. I had my last cigarette at 8 am December 24 , 1979 . My dad died of lung cancer that year at the age of 66 . Cigarettes were $5.25 for a carton of Pall Malls at that time . I weaned myself off the habit and just quit . We used to get a small pack of cigarettes in our USMC C-rations . Cigs in the barracks machines were 18 cents a pack in 1959 and cigs aboard ship were one dollar a carton . The US government was subsidizing the tobacco growers . Now they want to hang them !
  9. It's facing west toward an overgrown field the other side of my SIL's pasture lot . I expected the deer to come closer to the camera and jump the fence and go through the sumac trees . I am going to ask the property owner permission to set up a stand on his property where the deer seem to travel to get to my SILs pasture . He lives in Avon .
  10. I have a Brinkman that cost about $170 3 years ago . It's a POS . I have never used the side burner . It has brackets that feed the gas from the main burner to the other burners and one of them has rusted and burned away . I was pricing a new unit and checking the Consumer Reports book and decided to try to make a part . I had some galvanized sheet metal and made a part that works . I had to make it twice as the 1st one didn't work too well . consumer report has the Weber Spirit SP-320 rated tops ( $600 ) Vermont Castings is 2nd ( $1200 ) ......probably the one Doc has in his shed Brinkman 810-2545 is one of the "best buys" ( $260 )
  11. Camera is set a day ahead . I didn't realize it until I got home and the electric power came back on ....
  12. Got some pics from my SILs property on Lima Road . This cam was set up in some thick stuff in a wet wooded area . There are all kinds of trails through the stuff . It's an overgrown field that hasn't had anything done to it in over 20 years .
  13. I know a couple of speed freaks that are sooooo concerned about their bow speed . One uses cat whiskers and the other uses string leeches to quiet the string . However , they both have them placed wrong ( half way between the axle and loop ) . They are losing speed and would pick some up if they moved the whiskers / leeches closer to the axles . But who am I to tell these experts anything ! The WB is an excellent rest ! Speed kills but accuracy does a better job !
  14. Yeah , you lose at least 3 fps with the biscuit .......
  15. The only problem I had with a WB was shooting Qwik Spins as the tiny tabs would get screwed up in the whiskers . Oh yeah , you can't shoot FOBs through them either ! lol The WB is a nice containment rest !
  16. I'll take DICKs Sporting goods over most of the overpriced "professional" stores any day . Some of the little stores think you owe them a living . I periodically shop at the little stores but if I can buy the same thing for a lot less i'm certainly not going to give away my money .
  17. I like the adjustable pin sights . I have a Tru-Glo Brite Sight on two bows . It is similar to the HHA but costs a lot less . As for rests , I have a DMI drop away on one bow and a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone on another . I would have stuck with the Whisker Biscuit rest but I shoot Quik-Spin vanes and that didn't work out too well . I tried a QAD Pro rest as I like the "full containment" but didn't like care for the rest and sold it in Classifieds on another site .
  18. Wow ! Never saw anything like that anywhere .......
  19. Remington 20 ga Accu-Tips ........ Here is the link http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/5-rounds-20-gauge-2-3-4-260-grain.aspx?a=879742
  20. Because I have membership , it cost me $62.69 for 5 boxes 99 cents of that was for insurance .
