  1. I havn't seen along the curbs after Christmas but I know we still have our old JB Hunter artificial tree in the attic . I should dig it out and put it to some good use .
  2. I don't think I would want to participate ....
  3. About 4-5 years ago I gave away a few boxes of the Remington ThunderBolts . I didn't like them because they dirtied up the action in my pistol . I could have made a profit if I had held onto them to sell ....... Nah !
  4. Nice ! Looks like the little one is looking back for the camera .
  5. In the Marines they taught us , " when you got'em by the balls , their hearts and minds will follow " !
  6. Reuters Online rumors about a big government munitions purchase are true, sort of. The Homeland Security Department wants to buy more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition in the next four or five years. It says it needs them -- roughly the equivalent of five bullets for every person in the United States -- for law enforcement agents in training and on duty. Published federal notices about the ammo buy have agitated conspiracy theorists since the fall. That's when conservative radio host Alex Jones spoke of an "arms race against the American people" and said the government was "gearing up for total collapse, they're gearing up for huge wars." The government's explanation is much less sinister. Federal solicitations to buy the bullets are known as "strategic sourcing contracts," which help the government get a low price for a big purchase, says Peggy Dixon, spokeswoman for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga . The training center and others like it run by the Homeland Security Department use as many as 15 million rounds every year, mostly on shooting ranges and in training exercises. Dixon said one of the contracts would allow Homeland Security to buy up to 750 million rounds of ammunition over the next five years for its training facilities. The rounds are used for basic and advanced law enforcement training for federal law enforcement agencies under the department's umbrella. The facilities also offer firearms training to tens of thousands of federal law enforcement officers. More than 90 federal agencies and 70,000 agents and officers used the department's training center last year. The rest of the 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition would be purchased by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal government's second largest criminal investigative agency. ICE's ammunition requests in the last year included: --450 million rounds of .40-caliber duty ammunition --40 million rounds of rifle ammunition a year for as many as five years, for a total bullet-buy of 200 million rounds --176,000 rifle rounds on a separate contract --25,000 blank rounds The Homeland Security ammo buy is not the first time the government's bullets purchases have sparked concerns on the Internet. The same thing happened last year when the Social Security Administration posted a notice that it was buying 174,000 hollow point bullets. Jonathan L. Lasher, the agency's assistant inspector general for external relations, said those bullets were for the Social Security inspector general's office, which has about 295 agents who investigate Social Security fraud and other crimes. Jones the talk-show host did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
  7. Paula .... putting a hanger out like that is considered uhhhhhh , errrrrr , entrapment !
  8. It wasn't so much wanting to be a spelling Nazi as wanting to get the "PEEK" in for you previously mentioning the tapping on the window .
  9. Paula --- It's referred to as the "Peak" season . The "peek" season is when someone taps on your window and looks in .
  10. Except for several months on 2 Mediterranian Cruises , I spent 4 years in North Carolina ( Camp LeJeune ) . It was ticks , chiggers , mosquitoes and sand fleas ! Enjoy your trip ! It's nice around Ashville . Spent a week in Hilton Head on a time share . It's real flat . We rented bicycles and rode them all over the place . There is a Bass Pro shop in Raleigh and one in Concord North Carolina . There are 5 Bass Pros in Tennessee . Beware of those cheap Motels ! We found one in Virginia and my wife still refers to it as "The Bates Motel" .....
  11. Red squirrels can do a lot of damage if they get into your house / garage , etc .. They aren't very big targets either . They are mean buggers . When deer hunting , I have seen them chase off larger gray squirrels .
  12. Red squirrels are "unprotected" ! In New York State, nearly all species of wildlife are protected. Most species, including endangered species, songbirds, hawks and owls are fully protected and may not be taken. The few unprotected species include porcupine, red squirrel, woodchuck, English sparrow, starling, rock pigeon, and monk parakeet. Unprotected species may be taken at any time without limit. A hunting license is required to hunt unprotected wildlife with a bow or firearm.
  13. Yesterday am , a squirrel succumbed to some lead poisoning . I had to go to work and it was raining so I was going to get it when I got home . It was still there at suppertime and still raining so I left it there overnight . It was gone this am . Something must have carted it off but I don't know what . This morning 2 more met their fate at the bird feeder before 8 am . I went out to pick them up around 10 am after having breakfast with friends at a nearby restaurant . They were quite stiff and it made me wonder . On some of the hunting shows the deer aren't recovered for several hours or even the next morning . But ....... the guys on the show always seem to be able to move the heads with ease . Rigor mortis must have set in but the head moves like it was immediately recovered . Do they do something special with the deer on the hunting shows to make this possible ?
  14. If you could only train the deer , you wouldn't need to use Round-Up !
  15. The responses to the info on the link were interesting
  16. I thought it was about North Shore Strippers ..... What a disappointment !

  18. Once they open the door , it can be changed to suit one's needs !
  19. "The New York State Senate today passed a bill that creates the crime of aggravated harassment of a police or peace officer. The bill (S.2402), sponsored by Senator Joe Griffo (R-C-I, Rome) would make it a felony to harass, annoy, or threaten a police officer while on duty. " So you would have to wait until the officer is "off Duty" to harass, annoy, or threaten a police officer . Hmmmmmmmm ! j/k
  20. Happy Birthday Culver !
  21. And you should spend more of your time on school subjects instead of being concerned about any post count !
