  1. Replacement straps are inexpensive . They often have them on sale at Tractor Supply and Harbor Freight . They are a good investment !
  2. Hey , what the heck ! Don't tell me Obama is giving the deer "stimulus" too ! ... ...
  3. It doesn't show for me anymore . They must have fixed it !
  4. The 1st Jesuit ever to become Pope
  5. I have at least 15 stands on 5 different properties . A tripod stand wouldn't work for me .
  6. That's right . I have a couple chain on stands that have been up so long that they grew into the tree . That was before I got smart enough to loosen the chains / straps .
  7. For those of you who leave their stands out all year long like I do , check them out this summer . Replace ratchet straps and worn out cables on stands . I was going to use a chain on stand last season that I had up for over 2 years . When I got up in the tree I saw where the cable had rusted and snapped . I removed the stand and put up a ladder stand . The cable was vinyl coated but had rusted next to the cable lug . I bought some chain and replaced the cable . Another thing that should be done for year round stands is to loosen the straps so the tree doesn't become girded .
  8. It's 40 degrees here in Ontario . It started snowing about 3 times and quit after a few minutes each time . Quite breezy ........
  9. I take chlorophyll tablets daily that help cut down on body odor and use unscented deodorant . During hunting season I use Fresh Earth shampoo , soap and laundry detergent . I smell like a fresh dug hole and if there was one my wife would probably push me into it .
  10. That is correct --- $2 a ticket at Movies 10 in Henrietta .
  11. I have a 35mm trail cam that I havn't used in years . I used to get ticked when I would get a roll of film developed and only have a couple of good pics . It doesn't matter with a digital camera .
  12. I started bow hunting in !994 at the age of 53 . When I first started the deer seldom looked up . Over the years it seems like they have smartened up to the fact that something in an elevated position is a danger to them . They must have a learning ability .
  13. I swapped the card in a camera today and forgot to change the time .......
  14. Happy Birthday youse guys !
  15. I like it darker in the morning at 7 am like it is now especially when Deer Season opens . It's nice to have the sun out later in the day . After the clock change in the fall , I have to get up an hour earlier to hunt .
  16. As far as the courses go , most of it is safety and 8 hours of that is a bit much . The instructors have to drag it out to make it last 8 hours and repeat everything several times .Why not just cover Archery , Gun and Crossbow in one course . When my youngest son wanted to bow hunt , he took the Archery course . About 2 weeks before bow season opened he applied for his archery license but couldn't get it because he hadn't taken the gun safety course . He had no intention of gun hunting but that didn't matter . He was up the creek ! I guess it would be up to the DEC to decide what would be necessary for "training" .
  17. Yeah , we went to Movies 10 . It's $2 per person now . The theater was clean and the seats were okay . Then again , we walked in when the previews were showing so it was pretty dark but at any rate it was clean . No matter what theater we go to , Movies 10 , Regal , Loews , etc , it always seems like they play too loud . It was a good movie .
