I shoveled the driveway about an hour ago . About 1" of the light stuff . We are only 2 miles south of Lake Ontario and expect to get hit with the Lake effect crap . It's snowing pretty good now .

Darn ... by the time I could find the link and post it CCHC had already posted the link .

Lyman puts out a couple of excellent reloading books . One for rifles and one for pistols . Read the book a couple of times before getting into reloading to see if you feel you are up to the task ., If you get into it , check Craigslist as sometimes there are some decent reloading equipment for sale on there . Lee has some excellent starter kits . RCBS puts out a RockChucker reloading kit that is supposed to be good but more expensive than Lee equipment . There is another Reloading thread on this site

A box of 50 might be $1.99 but a Brick is 10 boxes ....... just for clairification

Contender --- what are you looking for ? Maybe call before you go . If you call , the message will ask you if you want to call a person by name and give you an extension . Try Dave Fladd . He's the only guy I can think of off hand .

Lawdwaz --- Beikirchs is local , supplies most of the gun stores around and has the supplies right there . No messing around with shipping and waiting . It's not too far from the expressway either .

Midway , Midsouth and Natchez were out of 158 gr Hornaday XTP bullets for reloading but Beikirchs had plenty on the shelf plus American Eagle 357mag loads for $25 for a box of 50 . I bought some of the cheaper 380 bullets just to shoot up at the range to get used to the Ruger LCP . The store wasn't packed like it has been the past few weeks .

I was into Beikirchs today and bought some 357 bullets for reloading and some ammo . Things have slowed down . The ammo panic might be over .

Okay , thanks for the input . What they offered sounded too good to be true and when that happens .............. it's usually too good to be true !

Groundhog hunting in the southern 1/2 of NY
fasteddie replied to Fur N Feathers's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
After I retired , I reverted back to my childhood and decided it would be fun to hunt woodchucks again . I checked with a couple farmers in Walworth and they welcomed me with open arms . I switched from my Marlin lever action to a NEF 223 and was able to shoot longer ranges . Checked with a couple other landowners and got welcome responses . The most chucks I got in any season was 112 confirmed . If I hit any and they still got to their hole , I didn't count them . One guy that had a Christmas tree farm gave me a free tree for getting rid of his woodchuck problem . Another gave me a pint bottle of Homemade Maple Syrup and a bag of potatoes . I never asked for anything in return for hunting any property except for asking one farmer for a deer crop damage permit . I hadn't filled the permit and he asked for it back as one greedy hunter has used up 3 and needed another one . I told the farmer's son that his "deer shooter" could kill the woodchucks from now on and didn't shoot any more on his property . When gas prices got up around $4 a gallon , I stopped driving to Walworth to shoot the chucks . Anyway , if you ask several farmers to allow you to shoot woodchucks , it may open the door for deer hunting property . -
Is anyone a member ? Is it worthwhile to join ? I am guessing it is similar to the North American Hunting Club but don't know for sure .

I think my latest bow is 4 years old ( not sure ) . It works fine so I don't plan to change anything . It's a Ben Pearson TX-4 . My backup is a Parker EZ-Draw and nothing wrong with that bow . If it works , don't fix it ! There is a lot of Hype trying to make people think that they need the newest , latest equipment .

I havn't eaten one since I was a kid so that was a long time ago . When I came home on leave from the Marine Corps , My brother in law and I shot some rats at the dump with his 22 pistol . A couple days later I shot a couple squirrels out back of my parent's house . When I skinned the 2nd one the fur came off the tail but the tail was still on the squirrel . I thought , oh crap , it's a rat . I havn't eaten one since .

One thing to remember at Dicks . If you have between $ .01 and $299.99 in points at the end of January , you will lose them . They reset at the end of January each year . $300 in points give you $10 in rewards . Sent from my smart shopper computer .

I'll take up the slack and keep shopping at Dicks . Bought all of my ladder stands there . Last week I bought one of the 2 seat blinds . It was $89 and I had a $15 coupon . It would hav cost me over $125 elsewhere . Within the past month I purchased the blind , a scope and several boxes of ammo . I have $40 worth of Score points due at the end of the month . Last fall they had a 3-D deer target for sale . It was $80 with a $20 rebate from MacKenzi . The rebate was overdue and MacKenzi wouldn't honor it . I told the manager at the store and he said that they would subtract the $20 and also let me use the @20 coupon that I had . $100 target for $60 . Doc would be proud of me for getting this deal !

The place in Fairport that manufacturers corrugated is H.P. Neun . When I was at Xerox I know that we did some sort of business with them . At one time the packaging engineers were looking into using "slip sheets" rather than pallets as they would be cheaper , lighter , etc .. Not sure what they are composed of though .
