Philo, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I have 2 good friends who went through this with their mothers, it's very sad. i do know they have made big strides in treatment. Best of luck and of course lots of prayers for you and your parents.

I have no problem sharing the place with a group of women! Just sayin!

Family picnic is on Saturday 7/13 and follow up party at my brother's cottage on Cayuga lake is Sunday. Other than that I'm free.

Philo, I'll be on the lake weekend of July13. Family reunion at Sampson state park. We will be camping from 7/12- 7/18. i'm bringing the motorcycles, i love the scenic rides around the finger lakes! I'll do my best to look you up, maybe we can meet for lunch at 1 of your favorite spots?

I managed to get out I believe a total of 9 days. About half of my normal time the last few years. I called in a nice bird for s first time turkey hunter on 5/1, rolled 1 on 5/2, and killed 1 on 5/15. So all in all it was a good season but the weather screwed up a couple of weekends and family obligations took the rest. Now I get to watch this hen hatch her eggs for the next few weeks. Life is good!

With a name like "Silent Death" I think he's got it covered!

Congrats on the last day gobblers! I managed to cut my lawn without spooking the hen off the nest! I used my old reel mower(no engine) but now my lawn looks like Stevie Wonder cut it!

Update on my nesting hen, she is still sitting all day. (at least when I have been home to check it) I can't check the trail camera without getting right next to her so I'm waiting for a chance when she is up and feeding. I hope it's soon as I really need to cut my lawn!

TF, the fog lifted around 7:00, never heard a gobble, saw 1 hen alone in the field watched her feed her way to the woods. Saw a Jake come out to the field where she went in. We made a move on the Jake and as we were getting close the neighbor shoots a 22? the Jake took off. I don't know if the shot was at a chuck or did he see us and shot on purpose? Walked and called right up to 11:30 nothing except we saw another lone hen in another field. I'm done for the season as I'm going to Pittsburgh to see the Who tonight and driving back tomorrow. Totally socked in with fog in little valley, crows just started calling a few minutes ago. Going to be a late start today. What's everyone else's experience with fogged in birds?

We spent the day at Gettysburg, very appropriate. I've never been a civil war buf or a history nut but I do find these places very interesting. I found a monument with mention of my mom's family name McGraw. I'll have to do some family research!

Leaving Baltimore this morning, I hope the weather clears, I'll be in the woods tomorrow early! My last and only chance left to bag another bird.

I checked the Maryland DNR for public hunting areas and the best looking areas are at least an hour away. I might be better off going to Virginia or w. Virginia? I need to get some real maps, it's a pia looking on my phone!

I'm living vicariously through you guys till Wednesday. I'm in Baltimore for a free days, I checked out the Maryland DNR and apparently spring turkey season ended on may 23rd. Just my luck! Thought maybe I could sneak out in the mornings while the girls sleep in.

I knew it was a dimmer switch right away, but I thought it could be a starter switch from an old Jeep! I remember having to put it in neutral, put 1 foot on the brake and work the gas and push the starter with the other foot! Am I really that old?

Send it! Keep that critter away from my nesting hen!

Not live from the turkey woods but it was live from my turkey back yard! https://youtu.be/AZel8ZplIFg The hen has laid 13 eggs and started sitting on the nest most of today! I'm not sure if she is sitting on the nest over night as I don't want to disturb her. I will check the camera tomorrow when I'm sure she is up and feeding.

I came close this morning! I'm back in little valley and at first light I hear a gobble below on the neighbors piece. I worked to the pl and called, boom! 5 minutes later I see a hen coming my way calling, so I mimicked her and she came right in with another hen and 2 LB's. I got them all grouped together at 35 yds so I can't shoot. Sure as s#*t she flanks me and takes them all into the open field behind me. I watched some good turkey porn for a couple of minutes! At 9 I had 2 LB's come to the edge of the field gobbled 2x, I'm sure they could see my decoys but they wouldn't come in. SOB! Going to Baltimore for the long weekend, so I'm done until next Wednesday. Good luck to all this weekend!

I'm in the win column! Went to Farmersville, 1st time this year. Bumped 3 off the roost walking up the hill, sat down and waited, heard a hen about 50 yds away so I called back and forth with her until she came looking for me. This guy followed her a little too close!

Only had 1 gobble 2x to the crows first thing. I walked right up till noon, never heard another bird. Hopefully I'll get back out on Saturday?

In little valley, set up on a field were they usually come to by 7? We'll see!

Sounds like we need to team up on that bird. If we set up on opposite sides of the roost site he should come by 1 of us? I'm willing to give it a try. Or at least my calling will send him running to yours! LOL
