Not saying it can't happen and not saying it's not productive being aggressive. I've done just like you said on a couple of occasions myself. Just saying most days I tend to wait them out and try not to have a big impact on the area. One thing some people also don't realize is you're also having an effect on the behavior of the hens when you get busted being aggressive. Yeah that hot tom with a head full of testosterone might come back the next day, but if he's henned up and she's leading him around and she's skittish, that just makes it tougher. Alot of it depends on the property I'm hunting, the time in the season (early or late) and what I feel like the birds might be acting like that day. I guess I'll clarify by saying that if I end up a half mile or mile away from the roost and I find one I'll push him and try and get on him. But I try not to do that close to the roost. Somewhat like a bedding sanctuary for deer I guess. I try not to push them around close to the roost and they will usually stay there for the whole month of May. Just my experience.

This subject always twists me up lol. I'm an admitted elitist when it comes to most people (imho) being over gunned for deer, but I shoot nothing but 3 1/2" 12 at turkeys. One of my best hunting buds shoots 180 grain out of a 300 Weatherby Mag at whitetails for cripes sake. Granted he travels NA for bigger game but I still bust on him when he shows up with that cannon to deer hunt. WTH!? I always say. He always responds the same way. "I shoot this because it leaves no doubt". I guess that's how I feel about turkeys and 3 1/2" mags. Weird . . . I look forward every year to taking out my 935 and slamming paper turkey targets before the season. Never feel the recoil when shooting at a bird but I know they're gonna get hit HARD. Some kinda twisted masochism I guess. I shoot 3 1/2" because they don't make 4".

Mossy 500 or 835 in 12 gauge and be done with it.

I concur with @G-Man that the quickest way to blow them off a property is to run and gun. It only takes a day or two of excessive calling and being seen while moving around and they'll be gone or get lock jaw and go quiet. Makes it 10X harder to kill one. As @Pygmy posted. I prefer fields actually. For the reasons he mentioned and others. I learned to hunt them in fields so thats what we do. Usually at a corner or funnel off the roost a couple hundred yards in a hub blind. Scouting is key to know their general direction of travel. Some people can't take sitting in one spot or a blind for 6 hours. I get it. It can be tough. But if you're in an area with good turkey numbers that haven't been harrassed it's only a matter of time until one shows up that wants to die. Anytime between fly down and noon. Light calling every half hour or so will usually bring one in. I usually hunt with a client or a friend so snacks, drinks and naps help pass the down time in a blind. I joke that when you hunt with me it'll be leisurely, a most "gentlemenly" hunt lol. The other thing I really like is when you see a bird aways off, get his attention and he takes his time getting to you. That buildup of tension before you kill him is icing on the cake.

The "War on Drugs" at its finest. One of, if not the most egregious worldwide policy failures in the late 20th century. Trillions of $$$ and countless lives lost. And the stupidity continues !!! -

The Power of Advertisement Two young boys walk into a pharmacy one day, pick out a box of tampons and proceed to the checkout counter. The man at the counter asked the older boy "Son, how old are you?" "Eight" the boy replied. The man continued "Do you know how these are used?" "Not exactly" says the boy. "But they aren't for me. They’re for him. He's my brother. He's four. We saw on TV that if you use these you would be able to swim and ride a bike. He can't do either”

It is physically unhealthy in some forms (smoking, vaping) but I can't see how consuming THC edibles are going to affect your physical health much. Unless you're a diabetic who pops some sugar coated THC gummies and your sugar spikes lol. In all seriousness yes, there will be an increase in health care costs associated with legalization of THC, but imho it will be negligible in the overall grand scheme of our current health care system. I don't think you'll suddenly start seeing 1M stoners hospitalized each day on a bad trip. Hope not anyway. Who will pay for the associated cost? The same people who are paying medical expenses for the morbidly obese, the alcoholics, meth heads and everyone else with an addiction, the taxpayers. -

Perhaps, but the Feds don't have a clue what they're doing either. Its hard for me to envision a scenario where the Feds approve a retail cannabis model that allows the evil "big tobacco" companies to turn a profit. Over regulation and taxation will kill most of the incentives to enter the business. The one exception will probably be the Native American entities that produce and sell tax free cigarettes. They'll find a way to make it work and more than likely strike a deal with the Feds to be a major distributor and retailer of THC products. Some kind of reparation agreement most likely. The example I'll give is when the CBD oil boom was happening. Coke and Pepsi (among others) were furiously lobbying the FDA to classify CBD as a safe and approved food additive. They wanted to add CBD to every beverage they produce. The FDA couldn't make up their minds so a majority of the big name companies put the concept on hold. Typical bureaucratic bs. -

Yes. Those who have been convicted of a drug related crime in the past will be given first preference to receive a dispensary license when NYS issues them. -

The rationale is to give preference to and give support to, the socially disadvantaged, to help provide more equitable opportunities in the NYS cannabis market etc. -

Oh they're adults. They're just touched in the head adults. That live in a reality foriegn to us other adults. Tough and frustrating to try and understand. Playing by their rules is a losing game. -
I've been involved in growing hemp in NYS the last couple years. Needless to say it's been a complete sh!t show from the onset. NY State's utter ineptitude and inability to manage the program coupled with the Fed's constant foot dragging and changing regulations totally screwed every farmer I know who got involved. I can't name one person in the business that turned a profit or even broke even. I have associates who've lost six figures in the debacle with one I know personally losing 2 million. Everyone knew the risks going in but the smoke n mirror show that went on with the state management of the program made any chance of success impossible. They all got f'd. Now they've legalized marijuana in NYS. I was against this proposal from day one based on the simple fact I knew the state had no idea how to manage it. The current state proposals are these: NYS marijuana grow licenses will be issued to three different groups. 1/3 to corporate interests for medical marijuana. 1/3 to hemp growers in "good standing with the state" and 1/3 to individuals classified as socially disadvantaged. Here's the kicker lol. Its not hard to grow, but ya gotta have a market to sell it. The current law signed recently designates that those with criminal records for the illegal sale, distribution or possession of narcotics in NYS, those with a misdemeanor or FELONY conviction, will be given first priority and preference when applying for a permit to open a marijuana dispensary. 200 MILLION of NYS money is being designated to address social inequities in the now legal NYS cannabis market. Can't make this up . . . https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2022/03/09/new-yorkers-with-prior-marijuana-convictions-expected-to-get-first-retail-licenses

Bob and his wife live up north. One winter morning while listening to the radio, they hear the announcer say, "We are going to have 4-6 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the even numbered side of the street, so the snowplow can get through" Bob's wife goes out and moves her car. A week later while they are eating breakfast, the radio announcer says, "We are expecting 6-8 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the odd numbered side of the street, so the snowplow can get through." Bob's wife goes out and moves her car again. The next week they are having breakfast again, when the radio announcer says "We are expecting 8-10 inches of snow today. You must park . . ." then the power goes out. Bob's wife is very upset, and with a worried look on her face she says, "Honey, I don't know what to do. Which side of the street do I need to park on so the plow can get through?" With the love and understanding in his voice like all men who are married to blondes exhibit, Bob says, "Why don't you just leave it in the garage this time?"

While driving into the complex yesterday I was accosted by these three hoodlums! As I pulled up the strutter actually ran in front of my car and and tried to start a fight with the chrome grill lol. Then he tried to chase me home! I've watched these guys hanging around the neighborhood the last year or so, there used to be five of them. Was out on my deck one morning this past weekend and heard them gobbling in the woods out back and started laughing. A little early in the year I thought but hey, they're city birds, probably not right in the head lol. No hunting here in the village but suggestions by some "friends" of mine to curb this obnoxious behavior include trying to dart one, an offer to ride in the back seat and hang out the window swinging a big stick, and my personal favorite, an offer to impersonate DEC personnel with a white truck, green coveralls and a couple big nets. I need better friends . . .
