This wouldnt have anything to do with the gull force winds their forcasting this weekend would it? I'm relatively new to bow hunting, but ive heard 15mph cross winds will move an arrow 3-4inches at 20 yds..

I have one over 100, approx 110. I've hunted Chenango county for the past 12 years, and i've seen at least 5 bucks in that time bigger than mine.

Thats why i stayed in the truck, he was stomping his foot at me a couple of times, definitley not pleased i was playing around when he was with his lady... I actually eneded up backing up a little and beeping the horn, causing the doe to get up and head into a little patch behind the motel.. We want deer like this walking, not winding up road kill or poached by idiots because a basically tame doe kept him by a busy road.

I dont remember the name of the hotel, but im pretty sure it was pay by the hour..

Driving home from a successful Adirondack deer weekend, i came across this old boy and his girlfriend, on a motel lawn in the middle of town.. I pulled over and watched him for a few minutes, and eventually wanted to see how close i could get for a picture............... In my Tacoma. These pics were taken from about 5 feet.. He would not leave the doe bedded down behind him. I suppose i should thank her for the photo op

Ive hunted 7m 3 days so far, mostly last weekend when winds were tough.. I did see some good movement around midday oddly.

Cant speak for Oswego County. But we have scrapes and rubs all over the place in 7m

I had a nice 8 pt come in this morning 40-50 yrds away. When he turned away from me, i hit him with a grunt, and then a rattle.. He looked back both times but wasnt interested. As a last ditch effort i through out a short weeze.. The deer did a 180 and came right back in. Not saying it'll always work, but in that situation, of a buck moving away, no call can hurt.

Called in late to work this morning, had to get out on the first really nice day of the season.. Thankfully the deer cooperated. Saw 9 deer before 8:30.. Including a nice 8 that i ended up snort weezing into range(didnt think that would work this early, but it got his interest.) Unfortunately, the 30 yard shot hit the one branch i was trying to avoid and i missed him clean. I'm planning on leaving that whole stand area alone until Saturday, to let things calm down, i dont want to drive him out of the area.. When would you hunt it? Tommorow? Or is Saturday about enough time?

I've seen 2 or 3 bobcats in the Adirondacks hunting.. Never sothern tier..

nailed it

5 looks good. Problem is predominant wind in NY is in most places S SW, which would make it tough to hunt that spot..

Perfect weekend for you to be in the woods as much as possible as well i guess!!

In the stand at 6.. My wife is going to NYC with her mother and sister this weekend.. There's a strong possibility i had a hand in what weekend they planned their trip.

Thanks for the input fellas.. I'm off to Ralins @ lunch to pickup a new sight, im not gonna screw around with it and let a 60 dollar part make me second guess myself all season

So bow season opens Saturday. I generallt throw out a few areas everyday after work to stay sharp in the backyard.. This evening, when going out to shoot, my arrows were hitting 6 inches left of bullseye. I'm no Fred Bear, but I generally put 4 of 4 in a bullseye and call it a night. After another 4 of a tight grouping left of center, I realized it wasn't a form issue, but my sight had gotten bumped somehow. Simple enough, I loosened the hex bolt, adjusted the left/right. Half tightened it and shot 4 arrows, all in bullseye. Problem is, while tightening the hex back in snug, I realized its stripped clean.. As it was at least somewhat tight, I've locktited it and its fairly solid now, and its shooting accurate. Here's my question.. 3 days before season, trust the locktite, or try to buy a new sight and try to get it dialed in a rush.. I'm going nuts worrying, any input would be appreciated. Jay

THIS IS THE LONGEST WEEK EVER

Figure out where they bed, and where their eating. Sit in between on the downwind side as long as you can. Alot of new hunters see tons of deer sign in a field and set up there.. Problem is, that sign is usally made at night or close to it..Goodluck

Their calling for winds up to 18mph in my neck of the woods. Wont keep me out of the stand. Thats what the harness is for

I've seen the most sign in all 3 of my areas, around old apple trees.. They seem to have produced a much better apple mast then i've seen in recent yrs, which is nice because i havent noticed much in terms of acorns this season so far. Other typical thickets and funnels i usally hunt have little to no sign.. -
I have an 8 footer.. No title, in like new shape.. i'll sell it for 100. PM if interested, i can get pics ina few days. I'm in Syracuse, NY
