yeah....just let it grow until it burns. Over the last decades how has that "leave the timber alone" approached worked out west? I never remember the amount of fires out there as there are now.

You wife cuts up your deer? You are my new hero....lol do you send her for beer before she gets all started?

Title says it all. I have a mile long, up hill, logging road to make it through to get into camp. When we left Sunday there was 6" and still falling when we left. The recent storm may have washed it away with the rain and then deposited more snow, but I don't think I can make it in with anything over 10" on the ground. Maybe kless if it is frozen and hard. Any insight is appreciated.

I and the guys I hunt with benefit from them as well. Let's be honest though. There are lots of licenses out there for the sole purpose of just getting the ability of a doe tag. It even happened before the sign over was made legal. But why, in your example, should your Uncle who can not go afield, have the ability to pull a tag from someone who is actually hunting. I know guys that only draw on every other year and the surrogate hunters and the does taken with ML and Bows play into that. Just my opinion, and you know wht they say about opinions...lol

LOVED those Activ's. They shot great but the casings didn't hold up to many in and outs of the gun. the extractors took a toll in my auto loaders.

I have no idea. I planned on reading it in detail tonight since I will be hunting this weekend.

In my view the majority of Hunters in NY are gun hunters. shortening that season IMO is a mistake and will effect participation. I am not a fan of our current tag system and would have no problem with every big game hunter getting a single buck tag to utilize in what ever season they want. I also think that the antlerless tags for the special season should go away. Nuisance tags should go away and the entire state should be managed for population control through the DMP lottery system. I think there should be mandatory reporting of tags in a system that is visually verified before next years tags can be issued. If you fill it out and use it then it will be presented prior to the next years tag and recorded. If you don't bring it in you don't get one for next year. Get rid of the signing over of DMP's. .

Must be much better hunters than most of those in NY. Because there harvest totals are basically equal to pus.

If there is a shorter season, you don't think that makes it more difficult for the ones that only get out on weekends? if a hunter hunts the weekends and Thanksgiving. That gives them 9 possible days afield. (if we are talking about regular season which is the majority of NY's deer hunters)

Yup. The same state agency that just sent me an observation log for deer season in the Mail. I got it YESTERDAY!!!. Most of my deer hunting is already done for the season.

Doc1.pdf It appears that even with all this senseless slaughter going on out there the numbers seem pretty up.

I could take you to a couple farms and a nursery and show you deed deer in the woods that are shot and have no portion of the meat taken. That is a thorn in my side. If it is being eaten or donated to hose who will I have no issue with any number legally taken.

13 year old son got his first buck- 8 point
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Tim Rozansky's topic in Hunting Success Stories
I believe NJ is a state with a pretty young age. I think it is like 9 or 10 down there. My Brother in Law looked into it a while back to get his son out earlier than is allowed up here. -
What do you think our role is in this sport we take part in? Our role first and foremost is population control. There are still WMU's where the permits have not all been issued to this day. Buddy of mine just went in the other day and picked up more for 8H. Last year the season finished without all the tags being issued for that area. (I believe there were others too). There is a program to donate venison....there are tags to fill.... sounds like a win / win to me. Let's face it, that majority of hunters do not fill their tags for what ever reason. I am very much against wasting any of the deer and that is one thing that burns me about nuisance tags. but if you have a tag and it is going to be used, I say burn 'em up.

and what do you think the difference is in ammo? How many calibers were developed for military applications first and them adapted for hunting? A lot of them. "well I just hunt with a 308 bolt gun" that is ammo that is chambered for a possible assault weapon. 30-06? yup 223? yup Any Idea how many calibers AR's are made in? That would make everyone of those calibers fall under this whether you are placing them in a bolt gun or single shot. AR-15, without bolt modification .17 Remington .17/223 .20 Tactical .20 Practical .20 Vartag .204 Ruger .221 Fireball .222 Remington .222 Remington Magnum .223 Remington (5.56x45mm) .223 Remington Ackley Improved 6x45mm 6mm TCU 6x47mm 6mm Whisper .25x45mm 6.5mm Whisper 7mm Whisper 7mm TCU .300 Whisper (.300/221, .300 Fireball) .338 Whisper AR-15, with bolt modification 223 WSSM 5.45x39mm (.21 Genghis) 243 WSSM 6mm PPC 6mm WOA 6mm BR Remington 6mm Hagar 6.5mm PPC 6.5 WSSM 6.5 WOA 6.5mm Grendel 25 WSSM 6.8x43mm SPC .30 Herrett Rimless Tactical (6.8x43mm case trimmed to 41mm and necked up to .308; the 6.8mm version of the .300 Whisper) 7.62x25 7.62x39mm .30 RAR 300 OSSM .357 Auto .35 Gremlin (necked up 6.5 Grendel to 358) .358 WSSM (various names, but all are some form of a WSSM necked up to 35 caliber, some are shortened to make them big game legal in Indiana) .458 SOCOM .50 Action Express .50 Beowulf AR-15 using a simple blowback operation .17 HMR .22 LR .22 WMR 9x19mm 9x21 9x23 30 Carbine 357 Sig 40S&W 400 Cor-Bon 41 Action Express 10mm Auto 45 GAP 45ACP 45 Super 45 Win Mag There may be more Now for pistol calibers. The same holds true. almost any caliber is made for a pistol. Look at the Encores, Lone Wolfs and other single shot pistols. 22 LR is a pistol caliber. I think the single shot pistols go up to African calibers like the 416 Rigby or maybe higher. So basically this will effect ALL ammo

Awesome buck and great story. It wasn't until I saw the county that I realized it was in OH.
