  1. the first 4 are just to get the brush out of the way for the fifth shot. That last one is the good one
  2. Bill, My father has the same issue and he uses a covering on his mouth as well. He has to be more selective in the days he chooses to hunt and his walks aren't what they used to be but he is still getting out.
  3. what makes you think they would choose to follow that law. they ignore all the others and their season is 365/24/7
  4. Small out of the way spots are just the right kind to do drives or controlled still hunts to watchers. Those out of the way spots are where the big bucks find relief from pressure.
  5. I bet you can do just anything you want. I have a recipe for canning stew so as long as it doesn't make it thick like a heavy gravy you should be fine. They said a thick gravy like sauce was a no no. Add thickener once can is opened to use. I use instant mashed potatoes rather than flour. I bet leeks would be great. Hot peppers. Horseradish. Wasabi powder.
  6. I was taught to approach on the side of their spine. Stay away from the feet and the head. This guys needs his man card revoked for that scream.
  7. But he number in that scenario is a far smaller number.
  8. Cold single digit low teen temps at camp to start Friday and Saturday. almost no shooting around. We saw quite a few tracks from Thursday. But only 2 deer were seen between 6 guys. I shot one of them.
  9. I don't get the whole use of a saw thing. no need to expose the meat on the hind quarter and split the pelvis like he did and a knife will cut right up the side of the sternum to open the chest.
  10. Vacuum seal doesn't leak when thawed.
  11. WOW. Wonderful idea. Thank you
  12. I vacuum seal it all. labeled by cut. Once the season started and we got the first deer I took the left over from 2013 and canned it. Any of the sausages we make is also vacuum sealed
  13. Wondering if you stopped in to see the land owner yesterday? Hopefully they would give recover permission. If you haven't it might be a good idea incase it happens again.
  14. Thanks. Made it in. About 6" with a few drifts that we had to bust through. Cabin was 18 degrees when we got here at 6. All the way up to a balmy 59 now
  15. Wipe out all the deer? Are you for real? The deer population and harvest numbers are higher than most decades since the numbers have been tracked. Check it out.
  16. I think NY has some great whitetail habitat
  17. Yeah, this first marriage I am currently in was for Love. The next time around the priorities will be much different...lol
  18. Well we haven't run into that yet. One benefit is on the way out it is down hill the entire way. We are really off the grid at camp so no outside electric, no well for drinking water. We have to bring that in with us. We have hiked in a few times during the winter and it is a rough go. had to choose between beer or water...lol. I picked up a snowmobile that I am currently getting running so we will have that option down the road but not now.
