The Expanded Antler Restrictions - Who is excited?

I think I missed that paragraph. Gonna have to re read it...lol. Odd that they cave to the lobby groups like they have. Too bad that politics crawls and scratched it's way into everything. -

Hmmm. DEC is basically saying the tha arguments being used in support of AR's are...wel....BS -
Didn't take much convincing for me to go after those either...
-
Many years ago I shot a small buck that was with a doe and a fawn. The buck was the same size as the doe fawn. I watched them for quite a while and finally decided the spikes were at the 3" minimum. As a kid it didn't take much convincing to take him. Dad and I had a Doe permit (back when you needed more than one on them) and even if they didn't measure 3" I was OK. Well one measured 2-1/2" and the other was 3-1/8". I know that one had to be a fawn.

don't you mean Bwewce?
-
It isn't out of the possibilities for an early born to have small spike this year which is perfect because if they are as you describe and over 3" he will make a nice tender steak. with the deer having name you don't, by any chance, put up memorials when you take them do you?

I will be curious how this plays out for company stores vs franchiases. a company owned store could get hit where a franchaise might not. (talking about any fast food type store) -

Might be a trick on state land, but with the ability of permission slips for transport and how everyone is in constant communication on cell phones, it truely would be a cake walk on a private lot. undated, signed permission slip in the pocket....one phone call. "Honey, you shot a 4 point today, congratulations" -

You ever wonder why the left is so strongly opposed to any improvements in the voter identification requirements? After seeing the whole signature book with a piece of paper held over your signature....security is a joke in voting. The last election the lady didn't even look at what I signed after i did. She just went about her conversation with the woman next to her. -

It is impossibel to quantify but I believe we are underestimating how often this happens. I think is goes on a lot....especially with the signing over of doe tags.(WORST IDEA THEY HAD). Now you have someone get a license ...could even be someone that used to hunt....how much temptation is there with an extra buck tag floating around. -

That is kind of the purpose of that rule. Allow the hunter to choose and if they choose to end their season early and take a yearling...it is their choice. -

I understand that logic but have they tried to quantify the effects n a study? -

Tastes like chicken..... And there is always free internet at the libraries -
I was on thefence as a kid of 10 or 11 I guess. I had ssen my father hit a doe to far forward and her front feet went out, starting that blatt....(anyone know the one I mean? Right on par with tha rabit death squeal). I think I was 9 when I saw that. I sat out a year or two from going with Dad. Then aroung 10 or 11 our Scout troop took a trip to tug hill. strapped on the snowshoes and a DEC Officer took us on a hike to a death ground. Deer were laying in various stages of starvation. The population peaked, The food wasn't there and the winter was unusually harsh and long. There is a benefit and we do serve a good purpose but you also have to hae your head and heart into it. Not every person that tries to take up the sport can pull it off. Nothing to be a shamed of there.

But if there are fewer receptive does in the second cycle (there will always be some) wouldn't the bucks then be more likely to cruise even farther and harder to find them? Has any captive studies been documented that track the fall off of the rut behaviors in the bucks as the number of in heat doe decrease? I mean if there are two bucks and one doe in a 100 acre pen, when that doe is bred and not in heat does the testosterone immediately fall off to non rut levels and the whole process stops because there is no doe to breed? -
You think you might be over analizing things just a bit?...lol. I hunt because I enjoy it. If there is a benefit (and there is) it is secondary. Our benefit is population controi. the contradiction exists becasue our population has grown and our existance has pocketed populations. The species that can survive and multiply in the pocketed environment are the ones that we help control the most. That all said...why do I do it.....because they taste good and the ones I don't take from teh field as pests...taste good to the worms too.

Yeah,,ok. Ever tried to get a building permit through for a commercial construction project. If they don't want you there you won't be there, period. It will be legal and everything. I have been involved in state giving the Feds issues with building permits that took years to clear up. Construction was stalled. So you keep thinking it is just talk. -

Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno has said he would oppose Chick-fil-A's plan to expand in Chicago. The mayor of Boston told the chain, "I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston." The mayor of San Francisco, where the closest Chick-fil-A is 40 miles away, said, "I strongly recommend that they not try to come any closer." You are right, I have no idea how a business' rites could be stepped on with comments and threats like these. Le't all hope we don't find ourselves on the recieving side of a well meaning protest. -
They need to be red...lol I think it must be size (think that is why the size in the stores is 1-1/4#) and I think I remember reading that females with eggs had to go back.

Weird, the same ones that would support the life in this case to give rights to a "gay" fetus would be all to willing to suport taking that fetus life for "just because"
