I think in some areas the wear amount can be decieving. I would think a deer on ag crops like corn, beans and grasses would show much less tooth wear than one in the areas where they focus on browes, and mast as primaries. That buck is just unbelievable.

Done it myself many times...lol

Wrong Thread??

I have seen 3 legged deer run and keep up with 4 legged ones. If she makes it to the season she would probably survive. That said, if she presented me a shot and I had a tag during season I would take her.
-
I always laugh at the shot that ther eis no way was in the vitals and they recover it that night or next evening and keep saying how good the shot was but never show the slow mo.

"The term management buck means "I don't have enough money to shoot the biggest deer in the pen so I'll settle for this one." That one made me laugh

Bout what I was thinking, Sam. I know it depends on diet and such but I would expect more mass at 4.5 and a little bulkier body. bwilso---did they put him on a scalse for a weight? aging by the jaw?

That is a awesome buck but I just can't see 155 there.

LOL good one Virgil. I guess I was baiting, I honestly didn't mean to though. I know the open season on Liberals was in November and I thought if it wasn't during an open season I wasn't baiting. -

SO the view we should have is don't say anything....just remove it if we buy it...and hope there aren't any more, if there are more. Because under NY law you don't even have ot know you are hunting over bait to be ticketed for hunting over bait. . Got it. My mistake. -

you---"No the high road was the fact thae he is just trying to sell some land and is getting killed for what might or might not be a salt lick. Even if it is so what, get rid of it if you buy the land! " Our definitions of "condoning" must be different. Indifference to illegal activities is condoning. -

You are wrong Doe, We should hug them into a new vision in life. Lawbreakers aren't bad people, Their plight in life has forced them into those actions. -

You had better have live stock to use them and even then it could be a DEC call if a farmer took a deer over one. I think having them clarify for you is a grat idea. Best right from the horses mouth. -

FYI. It is illegal even if you never hunt it. -
OK....I went to the meeting. I was on the fence about the organization because (as I am sure you all might have seen in any of the AR threads I posted in) I knew they supported AR as part of their program. I am NOT a fan of AR (through mandatory regulations). I asked my questions and got straight answers. SO here is what I came away with. . The guys that are starting this branch are just regular folks that want to see better hunting.....for everyone. Even the regional director kept mentioning the maturity of the deer increasing and the potential of a larger rack seemed to be an result and not the main focus. I liked that. It is a new chapter so it can basically focus on any ascpects of QDMA that is wants too (based on member desires). Could be education, habitat improvement, hunter recruitment, youth events....etc. I do like the challenge of hunting more mature bucks and have laid off the yearlings for the last 5 years or so. I would like the focus to be on the education of hunters to develop more mature deer....not a regulation. That said I figured I should put my effort where my mouth is and I will continue involvement and see where it goes. If nothing else I think you owe it to yourselves to check out the next meeting and make your own call. Thanks for the effort Mike.

Hard to believe we see thread after thread on here bitching about thing like trespassing, poaching and such and everyone is crazy fired up on these violations but not baiting. Must be way more wide spread than I thought.. We should be policing our own ranks and calling people on the carpet for operating outside the regulations. If you have a probblem with policing our own you ARE part of the problem. -
(((Let me apologize for this up front))) Good thing you have AR down there or you would never see deer like that.
