Tough to tell but the ears look pretty big in relation to the head size. Usually indicated a younger bear. Probably about the size where Momma kicked him out for her next breeding.

I know that is not the case the OP was about but there must have been some circumstances that kept it from going forward as a murder case in the one you are talking about. -
My POI was about 6" lower at 20 yards. what did you find?

They are fluff....nice to have but not required. More deer were taken without them than with them. One might even say they are ancillary equipment

There is risk in everything we do just as you pointed out. I do disagree with you on the "high" risk of hunting. The sever potential of death or injury is there but at a far less liklihood than other sports. I just don't see it as a dangerous sport. I grew up hunting the SZ and 90% of the time on state land. never had BO (usually green and gray wool) Never got shot at once. and never knew anyone that did. It is risky and I don't think enyone will dispute that. Just not the "Russian roulette with an auto loader" that you portray. -

NFA-ADK Oh for goodness sake don't be such a drama queen. your trip to and from the hunt is the most dangerous part of your adventure. And you know the stats will be coming on the other sports you listed. while it may not have happend to anyone you played with their certainly are maming and injuries and deaths form those sports every year. THis isn't tounge in cheek mny friend, If your stress over this stuff so much and think it is that dangerous of an endevour You might want to reconsider doing it. Life is too short for that stress. -

NFA-ADK. In the legal sense INTENT is required for it to be murder. I am sur eif the DA thought they could have gotten more they would have. I really think you are over dramatizing the dangers in hunting. Well at least the liklihood of those dangers. You talk about your parents being so concerned that they wouldn't let you hunt but they let you play sports. Mind if I ask what kind of sports? -
Looking for a .308 any advice

DO you like the new Mustang or the new Comaro better?..lol. Both are great rounds and for anything in North America (maybe Griz aside) very adequate. Military surplus is availabe for both....reloading components are available. You can't go wrong with either round. -
I will say it took me a little to get used to shooting them. They light as soon as you release and seeing that flash of red made me twitch a bit. I really had to concentrate on the release until I got more used to them. Kind of like a small flash bulb giong off by your eye

No magnet required. just a firm tap on a hard surface and it resets the inertia switch. I haven't had or heard of them going on by accident. But they are not cheap.

Pretend he is just a very very smart puppy

FYI...they do make great Fox bait....just sayin

some engines lik the one I had in my mororcycle specifically said NOT to use higher octane becasue it was designed for the lower 87. I think that is more fuel injected stuff though

Rem. 700 bolt action question
Culvercreek hunt club replied to ants's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I think Remington was doing a retro fit if you didn't want the locking bolt feature....so it would open with the Safety engaged. -
On the Fire Knocks. I chose the Hunting circuit but other guys I hunt with use the Intermittent. Hunting : 30 hours of bright light and up to 6 weeks of dim light Target: 17 seconds auto shut off after shot Intermittent: 6 seconds of solid light and then blink up to 7 to 10 days

It eats the carbs and engine parts up. Nasty crap. Just another forced cost to go green...lol. (money being spent, green I mean). My saws, weedeaters, generators all have had yearly issues and that is with or without stabiulizers.
-
it is all contained. no pushing in and out ends. Batteries are replaceable. They turn on with an inertia switch. You can also order them with different lighting functions. THis will be the first full season with them but I know guys that have 2 full seasons with them. Haven't heard a bad report.

Rem. 700 bolt action question
Culvercreek hunt club replied to ants's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
This has NOTHING to do with any safety issue with teh 700's. it is a feature difference. I have owned both types and know others that do also. Personally I like the old style of leaving gthe safety engaged and being able to open the bolt. It makes for very safe unloading. The "complaint" that initiated the modification of having to take the safety off to operate the bolt was the fact that the bolt handle could get bumped in the over the shoulder carry positionand a round would get expelled fromteh gun. I think the Rugers have a 3 position safety to avoid this problem. Anyways --readers digest version---just 2 different features...not a malfunction. -
I use Firenock

That isn[t really true. If you take into account antlered nuisance tags, ability to fill lat years tags up north in early archery prior to October 1st. and the fact that bucks can be taken on dmp's if horns are less that 3". there also are the bonus tag areas like 8C that can factor in as well.

The Expanded Antler Restrictions - Who is excited?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Let me tell you what I would really like to see.....This put to bed once and for all. I practice it myself but do not support it being forced on others. (That is my stance). I would be willing to put it on the line and support a 100% mandatory poll of hunters with future license sales. If the supporters of AR really have the numbers that they are quoting they should realllllly support something like this. if the numbers come in over 50% put it in state wide, if not it is gone.
