  1. I thinkk he was spending too much time looking at that big non-typical rack....probably and ear/antler deflection shot...lol
  2. yeah...yeah...barefoot uphill to school both ways...LOL
  3. aI saw that too but could be just the reflection and angle it is at. There have just been some reall slammers taken this year. This one tops the cake. Probably is a NY buck though....the cycle sticker is from a shop in Homer NY
  4. Definitely not my intention NY. I was making comments in general and if the regs don't require it you don't have to wear it. There is something about deer season that turns some hunter wacky. I have never heard of big poacher/trespasser problem in squirrel season...lol "Deer hunters and crybabies who worry about what everyone else is doing is their own worse enemy!" No that is a problem for me. I do worry about what others are doing. We all get painted with the same brush...wrong or not. I am not turning a blind eye with someone I hunt with or anyone I see in the field that is breaking the law. If you choose to do that...that is your choice. A poacher is getting a call made about them...a trespasser on my land is getting called in. I think safety and ethics is something WE must hold our brothers accountable for...the state shows little desire to really enforce the laws with their stupid little penalties. Hell a charge for hunting without a license is probably cheaper than an out of state'ers tag
  5. not rally much different between the 130 and 140 gr but I would use the 130 gr bullets. a quarter of an inch high at 50 dead on at 100 1 inch low at 150
  6. I bet you that is a 24-25" inside spread all day
  7. well I don't care if he ws 2.5/3.5/4.5...that is one impressive rack and a trophy in anyones book. If he was only 2.5 or 3.5 I hope he passed on a PILE of his genes
  8. If we are going to get into a debate over infringment on personal liberty and that tags don't work or serve any purpose I don't believe that state lines even exist. The facts are that in some cases they serve a purpose to identify people for various reasons. I agree that a person who is setting out to intentionally break the law would probably be smart enough to take his tag off. I am bettin some wouldn't. I have heard quite a few stories of lawbreakers doing stupid things...like writing hold up note on the back of their personalized deposit slips. If nothing else if you see a guy without one ...it would be a pretty good indication he is up to no good.
  9. How can you disagree with the facts of an actual case?
  10. I am betting the families of the guys shot in ....was it Wisconsin or Michigan....by the trespasser would disagree with you. They got him because of his backtag number
  11. This was the story I saw. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/northern_suburbs&id=7838864 Just didn't want a bad situation for the family made worse by accusations that what the step fater was doing was illegal. I would think that within a few yards is within direct control. You made it sound like they had him out wandering unsupervised in teh woods
  12. the story read to me like he was walking with the step father when it happened. even if this was during a drive i don't see it as illegal. if he was off on his own walking I might agree...and also very stupid. but i didn't read that
  13. If we don't police our own it will never change. Don't worry about being the friendly neighbor when it comes to breaking the law...make the call
  14. A man wakes up one morning in Alaska to find a bear on his roof. So he looks in the yellow pages and sure enough, there's an ad for "Bear Removers." He calls the number, and the bear remover says he'll be over in 30 minutes. The bear remover arrives, and gets out of his van. He's got a ladder, a baseball bat, a shotgun and a mean old pit bull. "What are you going to do?" the homeowner asks. "I'm going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I'm going to go up there and knock the bear off the roof with this baseball bat. When the bear falls off, the pit bull is trained to grab his testicles and not let go. The bear will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van." He hands the shotgun to the homeowner. "What's the shotgun for?" asks the homeowner. "If the bear knocks me off the roof, shoot the dog."
  15. I absolutely agree blur. I am sure it was the heat of the moment. He said it didn't dawn on him until after the fact that the first round sounded funny. He is lucky he came away with his body parts intact. Slug exited over his left hand on the fore end and left about a one foot slice in the side of the barrel.
  16. To the contrary...I question alot…i also try to focus my effort on issues that I believe pose a real threat.....do I follow every law...no...anyone who says they do I believe is lying...I have 2 speeding tickets in my past to prove it...lol. I just think effort towards things like more uniform and timely access to pistol permits....illegal immigration...out of control spending by the govt...welfare and the anti business view of our current administration pose a bigger threat at the moment than wearing a back tag. I understand the point you are trying to make.....but that reg will not turn the tide on hunters in NY. I think there are much bigger threats to our freedoms
  17. QDM...I think if you look at the regs there are caliber restrictions that give a pass to the coon hunters....I am more confused about yote hunting
  18. great story and great buck Joe. I am glad you have these articles. They make for grat reading
