I know....no name? I had one small peice I wanted to hunt. posted no name. I went to the town and got the name from the deed.....looked him up on internet and stopped by to ask. He gave me permission after a nice chat and some bribes of fresh tenderloin and back straps. when I asked him why he didn't post his info he said he didn't want to be bothered by folks asking permission....so why me then.... he said "because you seem to have gone through so much to find him" I still hunt it on occassion and he has given no others permission so far. There are so many out there that do it so they just know who is out there. GO about it the right way and you may be surprised

http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8371.html DEC Reg.s. I can not find a penal regulation that states posting requirements only trespass definitions. the posted signs sever as the basis of their knowledge that the property is private 11x11 at max of 660' and both facing sides of a corner. I post at 100' intervals and paint every prop line tree (state land is yellow...don't use that). I started with the sherrif when one guy gave me an issue and when they blew me off I went to the Troopers. He was convicted. Imagine my surprise on our first encounter when he tried to kick me off and said his uncle owned the property....I said really? that means we are cousins.....LOL....My uncle has me post and watch his land up north.

I have a vest and 3 of these in my primary stands. I don't use this in my ladder stands but I do in my lock ons since I had a riviet break loose in a folding screw in step. I use no retractable anchor points in my ladder stands. http://www.cabelas.com/p-0032873416873a.shtml The only thing that kept me from hitting the ground was I ended up straddling the next step down and I am not sure what would have hurt worse....that abrupt stop using my groin or making it the 15' to the ground....It was a LONG SLOW walk out of the woods that night.

5.9 is right ...the market is flooded and many stands are being harvested at much smaller sizes that is desired. That means more cuts to yeaild the lumber so less is being paid for the logs -

Much appreciated WNY...I will give you a holler when work slows down a bit and the traveling quits -
Interesting read in local NY paper...

All I can say is LOL.....this is never gonna quit...I knew it!!! but like a moth to a flame....I had to open it -
All that means on a 22 is the primer may not have coated that part of the rim. Most times if you turn the shell it fires...what would have happened with a lawn mower blade???? I have no idea how a shell reacts when not confined in a chamber

Just a little over 4 weeks and I will be doing my part to put a dent in that problem...lol

I agree with your concept bubba but I think as mentors,,,fathers or whatever we need to teach that to the kids coming up...I don't like any more regulations. Let's face it...even if they had to do that by law....it would go out the window if the group they hunted with didn't practice the same....5 years or not

My first deer gun was a 36" barrel single shot external hammer 12 ga...FULL CHOKE....one brass bead up front....Dad learned on it and gave it to me and told me after my first doe and buck he's get me a better gun..he did... a 20 year old east feild pump sold out of Montgomery wards...rattled like crazy but was glad to be rid of the full choke...THAT will teach you to not shoot any more than needed as a 16 year old kid...like getting kicked by a mule

My Brother in Law uses a LER scope on his 870. He had an old hasting barrel from before the cantilever craze. It is 4 power and I tried it once. A great option for maintaining a full view of the woods while aiming. you can really see what was hapening all around you....like not missing that buck of a lifetime standing up next to the one you are about to shoot...lol

Do you guys think the style of weapon used has anything to do with it. I hunted with a group up north that did drvies from dawn to dusk. everyone in the group had a rifle and all were bolt actions. from my experience most of the guns I see carried in the shotgun woods are autos and pumps. now I am pretty good with a bolt (not patting myself on the back) but cycling a bolt on a deer is not as easy as a pump or a auto. I know there are a lot of guys that will probably disagree with me but if I am trying to bring a rifle into the feild I am looking for accuracy...long range accuracy. To me that is bolt, falling block or single shot. the autos I have owned I sold because of their groupings beyond 250. I just see more bolts in the feild in rifle season and was wondering if you guys had the same experience.

From what I have found out the Encore will accept them and the NY permit needs to have EACH added even thought the receiver has the numbers. so if I get the 260 and a 22 LR I must add BOTH to the permit. I have done a lot of shooting with heavy pistols but have never touched off a rifle bullet in one. I was curious how it compared to say a 44 mag with hot hunting loads. -
Gotta be buck shot....I have seen videos with them using an AR but if you watch very closely I think I could actually see the red point from a laser on a few of them. Can you imagine the $$$ they would pull in from those kind of hunts. If you threw in a ground crew like you said with a few good hounds....better buy some freezers....or the food pantries would be FULL. would probably be great press for the Hunters For Hungry

Last year was a real bummer.....it was 80's and I was sweating in a thin long sleeve camo t shirt.....not great for hunting but very nice foe an afternoon nap under an oak...lol
-
I realize that bubba...but warm is warm and was just a thought for any going muzzleloader that might not hunt early bow up north. I have never bow hunted up north so it was a little of a shock to mehow warm it could get compared to when I normally hunted rifle up north

Since I hunt North and South I get 2 extra weeks.. I really pushed my purcahse of the tag up for two reasons...axtra tag that can be used in either bow or muzzleloader and I wanted to get a stamp b4 they required another course....and damn....since i had a stamp and tag.....I had to buy the gun...lol. the North muzzle loader season is great.....very early but you need to take meat care to a whole nother level in the high temps

WNY....TC in .260.....I was looking at that caliber to barrel and grip my Encore in it when my permit comes through....do you like it...how is the comparable recoil to a standard pistol caliber? -
Doc. I have a top eject 94 in 30-30. I had the receiver tapped and a rail mounted. sits on the left top corner of the receiver. I had to roll the scope 90 degrees so the elevation knob adjust windages and the windage knob is elevation . I will get a pic up... works great andyou can still see throught the scope without removing you cheek from stock. added bonus is the irion sights are 100% visable. I use them as my primary anyway when carrying the 94 in brush....if I need the scope just a small cant of the head makes the scope come into view.

Everyone is scrammbling right now on this. The timber company I lease my land from just notified me they are moving up the scheduled harvest date for our track and strip cutting the ash from it. Hopes are they get it out and to market before the kill offfrom the beetles -

I don't agree with Chevy's quoting of stastics that can not be justified. I do not believe that the numbers will double, especially in the first years of inclusion. I also believe that many "bow hunters" would make the switch. I have been looking for data from our neighbor state PA since I believe their first season of crossbow inclusion into regular archery season was in 2009. I wanted to see archery take numbers from 2008 compared to 2009. Just can't seem to put my hands on them. I guess my view is two fold. In the current political environment I would support any movement that gets more people involved in the sport. I think our best bet for a continued freedom is in numbers. Way too many are giving up the sport.(And that is proven by license sales) I have begun taking 3 nephews out who's fathers don't hunt. The kids are hooked and the fathers don't see the draw. Thankfully my sisters do...even though they do not hunt. They saw the bond it gave me and my father and know it is about more than "taking" a deer. My other reason for wanting the season is that my father can no longer draw a bow. He also couldn't get the disability requirement. I would love to be able to bow hunt with him again. I was hoping that they were going to go the way of the muzzle loader season in the northeren zone. Open the crossbow at least for the last week or so of archery before gun opened. I understand the desire to not have patterns disrupted I can't count the number of times I have had opportunities blown by things such as 4 wheelers....folks walking their dogs on a nice fall day. it happens. I guess I am a pretty analitical guy and need to see numbers when and argument is made. If anyone can get a hold of the PA info I'd love to see it. Nothing personal to Chevy and Solon I just hate seing anyone trying to limit the sport. I really think we need to be finding ways to expand it....all the folks in camo and orange are not the enemy.....the ones with their arms around the trees in the big hugging motion are.. Have a great day. -

NO it is what i say when dealing with an emotional person, such as yourself that wants to impose their will on others. There is no reasoning with folks suck as yourself. I was only trying to determine if Solon was the same or if I could actually have a debate with him. You are the one that avoids the direct questions but let me try it again. How would including crossbows in archery season affect YOU? I will chose to use a compound regardless of wether it is included as a legal implement in archery season. If you make that same choice....great. What do you have to gain by limiting others choices and how would their choice affect you?
