  1. Just toss them out the window as you drive by the local police dept......guarantee they pick them up...lol.. I have found nothing that discusses formal disposal which is weird.
  2. Should be able to buy new for around 175...think I saw at Walyworld for 150...worth it in my book if you can swing it
  3. I have a 30-30 model 94....anyone ever use those new tipped bullets designed for tube mags?
  4. Haven't carried mine in 3 years since I got my muzzle loader. I have an 1187 with a cantilevered rifled barrel. I have had it on a bench at a buddies range in Maine and I shot it out to 300 yards. Federal premium sabots are it's prefered diet. benched and bagged I got pie plate accuracy out to 250 yards. Would never take a shot out there with it.........but it was really cool to see the hold over and the grouping.
  5. Are you shooting a scope or iron sights?....and research the cost of the slugs. It may not be a factor for every one but if you have never spent $12-18 for 5 slugs it can give you sticker shock. the 24" would need these. and if you are planning on using a scope....get a cantilever mount. In my opinion a receiver mounted scope on a shotgun with a removable barrel will never do that gun justice. The groups will be a lot bigger.
  6. LOL...yeah Doc...my eyes get worse every year...so a variable is a God sent
  7. Rock-----My camp is in on the Broome Tioga line...hope those genes find their way over there...very nice buck
  8. Oh shot shells are easy...just cut the plastic or paper casing and pour it out. I would probaly just use a pair of tin snips on a 22 that wouldn't fire. I cut a few .410 cartriges to use as blanks when training my Springer..snipped right a head of the wad base.
  9. I have a beautifu 8 and a great 12 on my wall....and the two I am most proud of are the spike whick was my first and a small 5 that I tracked in fresh snow for about 5 miles up north in big state land ...caught up with him....made a great shot and got him out.....well out at 2 am in the morning....Set your own standards and live by them. Byt he way wild cat....I may be filling a few crop nusiance permits for a farmer...if he coughs them up...interested in some for the freezer?
  10. Went out Last night to check my stand over looking a soybean feild..and was going to put up the trail cam on a nice trail I found near it. Couldn't get there...NINE bucks standing in front of my stand....and no damn camera with me.... grrrr...guess I gotta get in there earlier...I'll post if I can get them on film...3 looked like shooters
  11. I wonder if they fixed the problem the old deer slayer use to have....the ones I have been around anyway. Use to be it you held the trigger and cycled the gun it would fire on the bolt closing. Never had that ever happen with a Remington, Mossgerg or Browning
  12. I topped my 1187 with a 2.5-7x44 ..my 30-06 is topped with a 4-12x50. My muzzle loader is topped with a 3x9x44 but my 22-250 is topped with a 6.5-20 x 50. I carry all of them aon low settings and if the longer distance shots present themselves I seem to have plenty of time to dial up. I prefer to dial up rather than down. As others have said...you can take the long shots on low setting but the high power at close range can be an issue. I hit a doe with my 1187 at 150 yards in a bald spot in a corn feild behind my stand...she whirled and ran right at me. I was on 7 power.....luckily I was able to find her in the scope as she ran 5 yards from my stand and put her down....at that range the scope was nothing but brown. Turns out I didnt need the second shot but better safe than sorry. I would recommend that 3x9 for any application other than varmits or bench.....to me the objective size and coating is war more important.....now there go big or stay home....much better light transmission my 2 cents
  13. You might want to try Cotton-Hanlon Timber company. We lease from them and they have many parcels in that area. http://www.cottonhanlon.com/ Our lease is just South of Cortland in Broome County
  14. Doc. why would a rimfire be any different than a centerfire. Can't you pull the bulet on that too? TO be honest I have never had a rim fire cartrige that wouldn't fire when tried again......rotated in the chamber
  15. WZ.....any of the new style device will hold you up right. Belts are bad and could flip you over. I would never use one again. I am in Construction and even the full body style harneses are not made to just have you dangle. You will doo serious damage to yourself in the form of clotting and suck if you do not get the weight off the strapping. That said. Any stand I use have either a ladder, shicks or steps. I do not use I only have one climber and have sticks going up to that. Assuming you remain consious...the steps, ladder, steps will allow you to get off the line. I think there is a system with loop steps but have never used them....anybody have any experience with these?
  16. But on a COOL meter------I give it a 9.5....not a 10 because there are no beewbies
  17. Best advice I can give on that Doc...is pole saws...pole chainsaws....and ALWAYS with a partner there...I am as guilty as the next for going in alone but probably should be with someone if your doing high risk work...Can't dial 911 when unconscious
  18. It was blind luck....about 30 yards from one of his favorite stand sites
  19. Let me see if he kept them. Really opened my eyes. I have no idea how many were taken in before he found the den.
  20. I have two I use...both skin tight. a meshed one for early season and bow and a camo full head from underarmor.....love the underarmor one. the flap covering your nose and chin is sewn on seperately and pulls down very easily with out stretching the rest of the mask for things like drinking and call use.
  21. Thanks. I sent an email for additional information
  22. Don't even think bribes would work on that one Chevy...lol
  23. My brother in Law is a freak with game cameras. I think he likes it more than the hunting. Anyways, spring 2009 he stumbled onto an active yote den. mother and pups. from that time until they left the den 13 seperate fawns were taken into the den by the mother. now that is one den....You do the math
  24. What is the gig?...all hype or do they work. I have never held one in my hands but don't understand the whole concept. Any one out there ever use one?
