  4. Looks like we need to get some falcons guys...
  5. oh and yuuut, welcome to the site, great people here. I live in Queens. PM me and we can talk coyote spots.
  6. Well, I did some looking around. This is under small game hunting, general regulations: "In Wildlife Management Unit 2A (NYC), hunting is permitted by falconry only."
  7. I highly doubt it, but the DEC regulation maps do show cottontail, squirrel, and pheasant as open in the 5 boroughs. All other species are shown as "Closed". But then, what can you hunt with in NYC? Can't use any firearms, or crossbow, or air rifle... Maybe a slingshot? wait, I think they might be illegal too... Can't remember right now... Maybe your bow? But is there any laws against discharging your bow on your own property? I dont think there is, hummm. Well, what ever. So go figure...

  10. Forgot to add... This wasn't a stop really, but while I was parked on the side of the road, gearing up to head into the woods, a DEP officer pulled up (this was on DEP land by the way). A young officer hopped out of the truck, barely peach fuzz on his face. First thing I thought was "oh boy, here comes the rookie". Turns out he was a VERY nice guy. Just asked how I was doing, and we conversed back and forth, told him I was moving into a different spot since my morning spot was no good with the current wind. He never asked to see any licenses or anything. Even told me he saw a nice 8 pointer cross the road that morning and where it crossed! (He didn't know I was hunting coyote tho...) Very pleasant experience that time.
  11. We used to have the DEC up at hunting camp once a year, every year, during gun season, they would ask to walk around and ask if we got anything. Then they would come once every couple years, and now we haven't seen them in about 7 years. I was checked in LI about 5 years ago when I was fishing by DEC. My brother and I were checked by DEP police one early morning, checked the serial numbers on our guns and ran them in their computer and everything. Also checked our IDs and hunting licences and carcass tags. I felt violated to say the least...
  12. I saw more trucks/cars than ever near the state land by me opening day, then after opening day, just the usual amount of hunters that I see every year. Def. more shots heard on opening day than I have heard in the past couple years.
  13. If he takes a deer, you get half the meat!
  14. I figured that. It is just a bunch of hoops to jump through.
  15. I think I need to hang stands near deer crossing signs more often... !
  16. Well when you'r home there is nothing saying you can't walk around with it on your hip, or keep it loaded on your night stand. If I am not home I want my guns locked up anyway.
