After all my research (about 3 months worth), the M&P 40c will be the next pistol I buy. -

What scares me about Cuomo...
SteveNY replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Fixed: ALBANY, N.Y. — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's popularity has plummeted among Republicans, Democrats and independents after he pushed tougher gun control measures into law after the Connecticut school massacre. The Quinnipiac (KWIHN'-uh-pee-ak) University poll released Wednesday shows the Democrat dropped from his all-time high approval rating of 74 percent in December to 59 percent now. Quinnipiac's Maurice Carroll, however, says the results go beyond the gun law and shows concern about Cuomo's liberal turn this year. Cuomo blames the drop on the public's misunderstanding of the gun measures, which he rushed into law without public hearings or the required public review period. He says they won't infringe on gun owners' rights and will save lives. Quinnipiac questioned 1,127 voters from last Wednesday to Sunday. The poll has a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points. -

#6 is great for tree rats. If your going to eat them tho, I suggest a .22 head shot. There isn't much meat to waste on them!

First off, the title of this thread is very misleading. Secondly, I am also sick of people thinking the NRA is the All Mighty Supreme Power of everything that has to do with firearms. The people that YOU vote for are responsible for these new laws passing, NOT the NRA! As a matter of fact, Cuomo used some BS power he has to push the new bill through at 11:45 at night (I watched it live and felt helpless and violated). The Assembly had 20 minutes to vote on a 32 page bill. Any way. Keep writing your reps, and sign the petitions and class action law suits. We can still fight this outrageous legislation by civil means. The NRA is ON OUR SIDE!

You'r right, that's why I hope more states think about what Wyoming is trying to pass. http://k2radio.com/wyoming-lawmakers-propose-gun-protection-legislation/ -

It is much much more than just limiting magazine capacity. -

No it hasn't, but I really don't see it not passing easily in the Assembly. This really sucks, I can not believe it. I feel so violated. My first course of action will be to move out of New York. It is truly sad that I have to leave my native soil. I really feel like I was punched in the stomach. -
ADAMS -- Provides for the registration of firearms by the owner thereof at the county clerks office of the county where the owner resides, except in New York City This is a major one, among others. Registration leads to confiscation. Take the lessons of the past and think about this very carefully. GIANARIS -- Establishes a 10 day waiting period for the purchase of any firearm S572 GIANARIS -- Prohibits the purchase of more than 1 firearm during any period of 30 days S573 GIANARIS -- Requires persons possessing any firearm to hold a firearms safety certificate S574 GIANARIS -- Regulates firearms and ammunition dealers S575 GIANARIS -- Provides for universal background checks for the sale of firearms. Don't like these either, as well as a few others, but I need to get ready for work now. As someone else already said, criminals don't follow the law. These proposals will just deter law abiding citizens from purchasing firearms to defend themselves and their families.

Not sure if I would shoot or not, very cool none the less.

No, just residence premises license, it is a restricted type of license. Allows only for possession at your residence, and to and from an NYPD approved pistol range in NYC, unloaded, with a trigger lock, in a locked container. Ammunition carried separately. You may not leave the 5 boroughs with the pistol(s). UNLESS you show a valid hunting license at the time you receive your pistol licence (and it also took some pleading as well, but that's a whole new thread). In that case you get a green piece of paper (literally), with your name, license number and address, that states: and on the rear of this green paper:

No, I just jumped through the hoops they make you jump through... Took 4 months time, a bunch of cash, and having to take off three days of work. (If i remember correctly) I have the whole process logged here @ http://www.nyfirearms.com/forums/pistol-permits/31595-nyc-premise-permit-submitted-yesterday.html
