  1. I just recently saw a picture of a home-made feeder. 8 inch pipe about 8' long zip tied to a pine tree. The guy filled it up and had something on the bottom to regulate the corn coming out. Thing was only one guy posted baiting is illegal. Everyone else liked the idea or thought you could bait. They even went so far to say the DEC encourages the baiting. This is in a high density deer area downstate.
  2. Doc, That is a bear doing that. The pole will need replacing soon, they hit that pole all the time.
  3. It's the real deal. Yeah it stay on the wall.
  4. OK OK it goes back in the desk draw………..
  5. That would be members of the G.I Joe Adventure team!!!!! I found my certificate and framed it. It now sits up at the cabin. Has to be close to 40-45 years old. So proud of that thing!!!!
  6. Here are some picts from the weekend. That is the trail mower that I fixed up. Ran great and I did all the trails and the front field with it. There is a picture of the oats I planted, the bear pole (he is really hammering it), my burning barrel with some interesting prints on it, view of my top field and a sunset. A great weekend for sure!
  7. When I used to hunt state land in Roscoe you parked wherever you want.
  8. Left work at 5:00 and was walking in front of Fox news building. They are folding up the large American flag that flies in front of the building. People walking back and forth just passing by. I see one old lady she had to be 90 staring at the men and the flag with her hand over her heart. I stopped and watched I was in awe of her patriotism. I thought to take a picture but said no I'll just let this be. God bless her, the generation she lived in and this country!
  9. Toro are very good. I have one and it's running strong at 7 years.
  10. My Niece makes some awesome craft beer. She has a real love for the craft. It also helps that she works for Sam Adams………..
  11. They do this on Long Island. Shoot a doe and go back for a new permit. They are more than happy to give them out. You have to bring the deer to the DEC station. They look it over and weigh it. Years past we would wait on the does and not shoot for a number of reasons. For the last few years I tell my gang shoot the first nice doe you see. This is important for hunters who travel a distance to their camp. You never know when you hold out on those permits and then it happens that you can't make it back to camp or all you see is yearlings. Opening morning by 10:00 we had three doe and one buck hanging.
  12. I have seen some big deer. I'll pull cards this weekend and report back. Going to camp for 3 days with my 10 year old-all fun-n-games!
  13. Although I'm not a huge fan it was cool seeing his name in lights in my home town. He played at the Paramount theater in Huntington last night. No protests outside which was good (very liberal in Huntington) lol
  14. Earlier this year Wal-Mart (WMT) recalled some donkey meat after it was found to be contaminated with fox meat. WTF?????? http://money.cnn.com/2014/07/21/news/companies/kfc-mcdonalds-china/index.html?iid=Lead
  15. It always amazes me around this time of year receiving the hard cover edition of their catalog. I know what it costs to put things like this together and ship them. How many of you get this and do you think it is worth the effort on their part?
  16. I don't see anywhere that it says the DEC wants to commercialize hunting. With that said in highly dense areas of deer towns are using sharp shooters. I really don't see this impacting a normal density hunting area.
  17. Cool Ed by your sisters house?
  18. Yeah interest rates still at all time lows although the fed is talking about raising them soon.
  19. My schedule just has gotten so busy especially after my daughter decided to play for the A team in soccer. Two games every weekend in the fall excluding Columbus day weekend. Season ends in December. So I sat down with my brother and we talked about a game plan. We came to the decision to go up Columbus day weekend to bow hunt. The next hunt will be Tuesday-Friday right up to gun opener. Stay and hunt gun first three days. In the end it will save us some money in traveling and food. We usually are up every other weekend for bow season. It's a 6 hr trip so it does add up. I love to late season hunt with muzzleloader so that will be there also. Of course the L.I. season runs so long we will take advantage of that. The only thing that bothers me is that I love the fall so much in the Finger lakes, I'll just get a little taste this year:(
  20. Haven't seen much of a spike on L.I. Harbor is full of boats and boat traffic. Maybe they are all trading up???
  21. F&S store to open by Elmira also. Quality is pretty good so I think it will do well.
  22. Thanks Elmo! That is what I was looking for I guess the Mod's didn't know it existed? I checked off political discussions, I'll see if it works.
