Folks, In the last month or two I have seen a couple of trailers with quads on them. The trailer is swaying back and forth, it looks so unsafe. Does anyone know the cause of this? Just a guess but I think the tongue is too short, just a guess? (These trailers are small, FYI)

Some good points here: Is it Safe to Refreeze Thawed Meat ? Question: I thawed some frozen steaks for dinner tonight, but now I’ve had a change in plans and don’t have time to cook them. Is it okay if I refreeze them? Answer: It’s fine to refreeze the steaks — as long as you thawed them in the refrigerator. If that was the case, you can put them right back into the freezer (see here for detailed advice on how to freeze them). When you eventually thaw the steaks a second time, you may notice a decrease in quality, but they’ll certainly be safe to eat, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. If, on the other hand, you thawed the steaks in the microwave or in cold water, the USDA advises that you should cook them immediately before freezing. That’s because with either method, the steaks could have at least temporarily warmed up to a temperature higher than 40°F. At that point, harmful bacteria can begin to multiply and only further cooking will destroy it; simply refreezing the steaks won’t do the trick. Finally, if you thawed the steaks on the counter or in hot water, you shouldn’t eat them at all. The USDA cautions that it’s dangerous to eat any meat or poultry that’s been thawed under those two methods, as the outer layer of the food would have been allowed to sit between the bacteria-breeding temperatures of 40° F and 140° F for far too long to be safe.

Good luck with the hunt, nice Yurt!

Cool picts Eddie. Here on Long Island we are having more and more deer show up in backyards that you never would of thought a deer would be in. They are feeding deeper and deeper into suburbia using power line routes from bigger wooded areas.

Climbing sticks/separate sections/screw in steps?
First-light replied to nybuckboy's topic in Deer Hunting
I love the climbing sticks. I just tried the small ladder sections that individually strap to a tree but wasn't impressed. -

I don't trust the Russians or the Syrians. I'm proud of our exceptionalism in America, it what makes us great! You may not like Obama but I know you love your country. Putin can go to hell, talking down to us on 9/11 he dissed this country on a day of mourning. Like I said the ball is in his court now, what will the play be???????????

I often see people shooting in their backyards. You really don't know what could happen. 1 freak shot that skips off the target and goes flying into another backyard. I know most guys are safe but sorry won't cut it if something horrible happens.

My young hunting bud is off to New Zealand.
First-light replied to First-light's topic in General Hunting
He didn't say anything about hunting. Its survival school so I would think you would hunt. We won't have contact with him until he is at the airport ready to come home. -
As some of you know I have a kid who I mentored bow hunting from 14-16. He has taken a few deer on my property and now is one of the guys at camp. Zach graduated high school this year and wanted to get into the Navy. They are holding off enlisting him for another year. He dislocated his shoulder 2 years ago, this is holding him back. In the meantime he has to hone his skills. He is off to New Zealand today and will be back in December. He is attending the NOLS school (see the link) sounds great and I wish him luck. I have the last weekend booked for him at muzzleloader season! http://www.nols.edu

Maybe 10 years ago at bow season. It was an afternoon hunt around 4:00, overcast 38 degrees no wind. In my favorite stand at my BIL house. Behind me was some dense cover and I heard deer walking. I stood up and my back was to them. I turn my head to see a doe be tended by a massive buck. He was not grunting but making this long clicking noise. I heard about this noise and it is when the buck is locked n on the doe and a bulldozer couldn't separate the two. Now I have this massive wood limb Browning bow that I'm holding. It starts to get heavy as she is working her way down towards me. She is now 10 yards broadside but the buck is thrashing a small pine tree30 yards off no shot. She catches movement of my bow that sends her bounding 20 yards and stops. The buck charges towards her and offers me a perfect 25 yard shot. The arrow sails right under his chest. I was so excited that I dropped the bow on the shot. He was a stockey 3.5 8 point. We found his sheds that winter, what a deer. They hang on the front of my cabin...........
