As a good hunter you identify your target before you shoot. I remember a video I have from the guys that made Bowhunting October Whitetails. There was a video dedicated to gun hunting and the time frame you have to identify the animal you are shooting. It was kind of a split second identification process, dealing with shooting running game. Bubba's thought about blaze orange plays into this. If blaze orange was mandatory, In this scenario, I wonder how many hunters would shoot first, after not seeing any BO, and ask questions later. Now, I would hope all of us here identify first and shoot second.

Bubba, So why doesn't NY have a mandatory reg on this? Well there are only 10 states that don't require BO and NY is one of them. I don't know why the DEC doesn't mandate it. We are in the minority here. Study after study shows that after mandating BO vision related accidents reduce dramatically. So you know what, I don't have an answer for you. Maybe the politicians own stock in realtree camo! lol

Good question Zach. I asked the same one last year. Wooly, a member on this site, really knows haow to look for these things. He told me field edges, hedgerows and runs are good spots. Take your time, actually I found one last year after taking his advice. I just saw a couple of tines poking out from the leaves not the whole antler.Here's a shed found on L.I. two days ago. I didn't find it a friend did. Good luck-I'm sure some other guys will post some other advice also.

No, someone I knew was small game hunting and found it. They actually ran into someone shotgun hunting and were told small game is closed while the shotgun season is going on.

I would never do it. Your friend should of stopped right there at one buck. If he got busted you would be guilty by association until you cleared your name. I don't need that problem,

I had an appointment to switch to FIOS last Friday. I would be getting the triple play from them for 74.95 a month for 2 years. Cablevision called me the night before (they knew I was switching) the disconnect and gave me the same price for the two years. Needless to say I'm still with Cablevision.

It's funny how this thread starts. Bubba in your first post you make it clear BO will be a topic here. The thread goes 18 replies before BO is talked about. On post 16 you drag up my name from another thread where I just say "I wonder if they were wearing blaze orange." The article from NYON did not give the time of the shooting. So if anyone is at fault here for starting the BO debate, it's you you and you.

I hunt and don't fill. Filling your tags means nothing. I thought you were an ass from some of your first posts, and still think the same.

I run every day about 3 miles, also was lifting weights from the age of 16. I never took any of the protein drinks or stuff like that. Now at the ripe age of 48 I stopped lifting about a year ago. Doctor told me to lose some weight and try to knock down my triglycerides. They were at 250-6 months ago. I went on a low carb no sugar diet. Lost 15 pounds and the triglycerides went down to 80! Now do I stick to this diet entirely? No, I drink lite beer and eat pretty much what I want on the weekend but not over-doing it. During the weak it's salad, fish, peanuts and oatmeal. Don't overlook the power of oats and peanuts when trying to lower blood cholesterol levels. The no sugar really helped also. I have always been in shape but as we know age catches up with you. The pills put me in the hospital 4 months ago so diet and more cardio was my way out. Good luck all!

Wow, that poor dog looks abused. It's a shame about the whole situation. Owners fault and needs to be enlightened about the situation. They should pay for your goats but by the looks of their dog they can't afford to feed him. I think your in a no win situation. Goats are wonderful animals and a pleasure to raise. If they mean that much to you put up a better fence for protection.

Funny I just ran across this post. Bubba if you remember correctly the time of the shooting wasn't stated in NYODN. So my comment was made on the assumption that it was legal shooting hours. Your a funny guy Bubba you continually crack me up. Blaze Orange saves lives-Don't get caught without it!!!!!! Discalimer: I hunt, I shoot and I claim my trophy. I am a hunter and a safe one.
