  1. I'm in! May bring my brother also. Both a large and yes on the food and drink.
  2. Real nice John! Nice match at top. You cut the horns off the road kill?
  3. Just my preference the way it's mounted. I like the skull also.
  4. This is a pretty major episode in a hunting season, why wasn't it posted months ago?? C'mon a bullet goes into your house after a 10 pt is shot on your lawn. He posts all the time here and he keeps silent on this for months, don't add up.
  5. This is true, for all you Hunting Instructors-this Bud is for you!
  6. For those of you who read NYON I just find it unbelievable how far people will go to shoot a deer, illegally. From using another persons tag to baiting deer. I would also guess for every poacher caught there must be a dozen that get away with it, maybe even more?
  7. I do the low carbs also, oatmeal and peanuts are my carbs. My day is full of vegies, cheese, oatmeal and fish. No sugar in the diet also. Of course on the weekend some venison and at least one day of what ever I want. (maybe two sometimes!) Lost 17lbs at first and leveled off to about 13. Didn't need to lose the weight it was all about getting the triglycerides down.
  8. He's bored, time to write another essay.
  9. Just a few examples, looks like moose rubs to me.
  10. retired, Great story! Nice buck!!
  11. You never did say anything about running game, I was using an example of not seeing BO and shooting first. That was it.
  12. As a good hunter you identify your target before you shoot. I remember a video I have from the guys that made Bowhunting October Whitetails. There was a video dedicated to gun hunting and the time frame you have to identify the animal you are shooting. It was kind of a split second identification process, dealing with shooting running game. Bubba's thought about blaze orange plays into this. If blaze orange was mandatory, In this scenario, I wonder how many hunters would shoot first, after not seeing any BO, and ask questions later. Now, I would hope all of us here identify first and shoot second.
  13. Two Daughters that amaze me everyday. One is 7 and the other 12.
  14. Yes I would think that also. Scratching my head on this. Here is a link to a pretty good study done in Oregon. Pretty much what we know but backs up some stuff we talk about. http://www.dfw.state.or.us/resources/hunting/safety/hunter_orange.asp
  15. Bubba, So why doesn't NY have a mandatory reg on this? Well there are only 10 states that don't require BO and NY is one of them. I don't know why the DEC doesn't mandate it. We are in the minority here. Study after study shows that after mandating BO vision related accidents reduce dramatically. So you know what, I don't have an answer for you. Maybe the politicians own stock in realtree camo! lol
  16. Head downtown NYC and you get them deep fried, pretty good.
  17. Good question Zach. I asked the same one last year. Wooly, a member on this site, really knows haow to look for these things. He told me field edges, hedgerows and runs are good spots. Take your time, actually I found one last year after taking his advice. I just saw a couple of tines poking out from the leaves not the whole antler. Here's a shed found on L.I. two days ago. I didn't find it a friend did. Good luck-I'm sure some other guys will post some other advice also.
  18. Thanks! Yea the guy shotgun hunting looked at the shed and said no wonder I'm only seeing does!
