  1. We try to introduce as many kids as possible up here. Had a 14 year old get his first buck. Here is something to ponder. I'm leaving my place to my two Daughters, I'm 61 and need a will. One hunts the other doesn't but has shown interest. I will have in my will that the cousins that hunt up here all still get that right when my kids own the place. Again in place I want my Niece and her husband have right of first refusal if the kids decide to sell. I want hunters here. I don't think my girls will sell but you never know.
  2. My Brother and I were in tree stands from 6:45 until 11:30 AM. We dressed for it. We each saw a small Doe and were happy in the end and sort of patted ourselves on the back for hanging in so long. I think it was 26 degrees with a 10 mph wind. Had a great Brunch 1 hr nap and was back at it by 2:00! Up again at 4:30 ready and able!
  3. We saw a few small ones. Neighbor pushed his property today we were in the right stands for it. They only shot a small doe. Usually a few deer are taken on this drive. Tomorrow another day.
  4. I don't like getting involved in political BS on a hunting site. NY will never be a red state. Rules governing gun ownership and ammo purchases will get tougher. It's going to kill the little guy and leave the big box stores for purchase. I purchase most of my ammo in Bath or Arkport. Wouldn't it be simple that you fill out your own info online for the store of purchase. They get the ok, you are notified its a go and you show ID at purchase. No waiting at the store and such. You can work with any Gov agency online why not this??
  5. Getting ready to go to my stand from the field. Put some tinks out and just like that a deer jumps up out of her bed not more 10 feet from me. Must of been sleeping. Scared the crap out of me! lol
  6. You think thats true? I built a big blind this year and put it in my favorite spot. I did not see any big bucks during daylight hours this year in that area. Now the trail camera picked up plenty of big ones at night and a lot of doe during daylight hours by it.
  7. First time I hunted Thanksgiving. I can remember my buddies saying its like opening day all over. I heard Maybe 5 shots all day. Not good.
  8. Wow couldn't say it better.
  9. Hey great news!!!! So we backed out tracking that doe for the second time. Thought was let her lay and die and we would go back to last spot and start again. We called up an overhead shot online and made a plan upon the last blood. We did sleep in and got out there at 8am. Don't you know our cameras blew up with two chases and that same food plot had 8 doe in it at 7:45! Hunt the storms! So we started at a point that would lead us to last blood. We were 30 yards apart and after 5 minutes my brother whistles I found her. She was about 40 yards bedded under a tree. The shot entered her mid section quartering to and exited out the the back leg. Caught the guts. Shot was high my Brother was lucky to get her. I'm glad we didn't push her last night. Learn from this but it was a gut shot but the shot was high and drove through and exited the backside. We didn't know she was gut shot even at that first blood bed. No evidence of stomach waste in blood. I say she is 140-150 mature doe. A Thanksgiving blessing for sure!
  10. Have a great Thanksgiving. Just spending it with my Brother at my house. Be safe driving all!
  11. Just don't know where she is hit. A lot of blood in bed but when she moves just a spot hear and there. I was on my hands and knees looking.
  12. Hey gang we went back and found her bed. Thoughts? Plenty of dark blood. Tracked for another 50 yards just a spot here and there nothing great. We decided to stop and pick it up in the am. Now I know we are expecting snow but these are giant pines she is in and the snow wont make it to the pine floor.
  13. Don't get any more live than this! Reveal camera caught the Doe my brother shot at 4:58. She came into the food plot with two fawns. Found blood and hair. Tracked across the field into thick pines. Heard her trying to move breaking branches so we backed out. Going back in an hour or so. Shot was in the shoulder but could of been a little low.
  14. Hunted my new box blind. 7:45 a parade of Does come in and the really huge doe was with them. Had my chance at 80 yards and missed her. It was all me not the gun. Looked pretty hard for sign at impact zone nothing. She lives on.
  15. From the article I read breeding should be happening again right after Thanksgiving week. That would mean some chasing this weekend. Let's report back.
  16. You give them 6 lbs of venison and will get back 20 hot dogs. Buddy just had this done.
  17. Driving back from Ohio I saw a buck chasing a doe! lol Those boys have some real nice blinds sitting not far off the highway! Hunted with my brother when I got home nothing doing. We will be hunting hard Wed-Sun.
  18. Hunted tonight before the storm. They were moving for sure. Heard about 17 shots from 4:00 until 5:10. Neighbor next door shot a nice 8 has yet to share picture. Other neighbors son took a decent 5 point. I had three big Doe come in around 4:55. They were about 40 yards out. I let them walk it was just about too dark to shoot and I had a lot of packing to do tonight.
