  1. https://www.pennlive.com/outdoors/2025/02/2-deer-test-positive-for-chronic-wasting-disease-in-new-area-of-pa.html Two cases near Scranton. My question is why did that hunter have that buck tested? I just read this online, You can get your deer tested for CWD for free by placing its head in a collection bin. You can find the locations of these bins on the Game Commission website. The other case was at a game farm. They quarantined the place for 5 years! FS wouldn't that put you out of business? Can't you just test the rest of the heard and not shut down? I don't like these little articles that pop up and don't give much detail.
  2. A few months early but she earned it. This 2nd semester of her third year she was appointed 1st Sergeant of her company. Actually tonight she is leading a Platoon on the Norwegian March (14 mile ruk at night). As a 1st sergeant she can have a vehicle. Just happened to be my coworker Dad passed and she had a 2020 GMC Terrain for sale. SUV was mint. Had most of the options we wanted and I think I got it for a great price. We were looking to spend up to 23k but this car was 16k. Kicker was it only had 20 k miles on it. Just detailed by the dealer and full records. It's in my garage waiting for the trip to West Point in the next few weeks. My coworkers Dad was a veteran and we both said he was smiling up in Heaven.
  3. Good info. I'll stop by Arkport Cycle and see what they say. I'm running a 2010 Suzuki 400 4wd. Low hours in great shape. Thanks.
  4. Hey Doc what is your plow? I use my tractor with the metal skis clamped to the bucket but would rather get a plow for my quad.
  5. That gut shot deer i put in my field was eaten on by mostly crows. Next Fox, skunk and a coyote. As for birds of pray 1 hawk and 1 eagle. Oh 1 Turkey Vulture. Seems the eagles are doing fine.
  6. I'm with you Eddie. I actually have too many and put some in the garage. But I will do 1 more. I'm waiting for that heavy beaned buck. We have so many nice 8-14 pointers here but they all lack mass I'm looking for. I want soda can bases. I know it may never come but thats my deal.
  7. Cheapest mount I came across was $550. Average price $650. Top notch Taxi $800-850.
  8. Well my neighbor put some holes in his pond may give it a try this weekend. He said it was about 6 inches.
  9. I've stayed away from that section for a long time. Don't care to go there.
  10. I've done a few with the powerwasher. Did you boil first to soften it up, I did . Yes the bucket methos does have a stink but not too bad. I feel its the easiest way to go about doing it.
  11. My neighbor did it last year I did it this year. 5 gal bucket and an aquarium heater. Skin the head and put it in took me 12 days to have a perfect euro. Dry then bleach1
  12. I couldn't no way. Brutal winters and short summers. Not for me.
  13. Doc have to be honest did not read it all. Just like your post how smart are they. It all depends on the deer. My brother smokes in the deer stand he has killed so many bucks with a smoke in his mouth. This year I left my gear in the house most of the time. Never got busted except for that old Doe that saw me. I like to take a shower before I go out especially in the am. Other than that I'm sure deer do smell us but it's the old wise ones that pay attention. But then again there is always the rut! lol
  14. Guys were out this week. Got a yote on camera in the am they came through in pm. Guess the dog still had scent??
  15. Still holding by me but I bet the cold snap made some shed.
  16. Funny I walked out onto mine this morning and made a big popping noise.
  17. Screwed or nailed? Most likely screwed and the cold is doing that. Job for the inspector for sure. Make sure it's secured into the plate on the wall and not just sheathing.
  18. Bunch of pictures of bucks still holding headgear. It won't be long in fact maybe this week with the temps low. We call this spot the 4 corners. Two real well used runs come though here. Now that camera is not more than 50 yards off off a road intersection, hence the 4 corners. I think he is a big 8.
  19. I'm doing some remolding in the house. Once we get past this cold snap I'll probably cut some dead ash and split it.
  20. Doc I get what all you said but don't you think we change as hunters as we get older? I know I have. We lay down give back and ease off the trigger. Time flys by us and new ways to hunt or attract deer come about and we as the elders not frown upon it but just don't get it. It's the young generation that will never get what we had. I would take that any day of the week. Cold tent warm fire some grub and do it all over again to harvest a whitetail!
  21. Important that you got to hunt with your son! My Neighbor next door has family in Maryland and you are allowed to bait and shoot a ton of deer. I always get invited but never go. Just not my thing.
  22. The whole bait thing would not sit right with me. Just like hunting with dogs if you grew up doing it, it's your way. I just can't see pulling the trigger on a deer munching on a pile of corn. This debate could go on and on JMO.
  23. Doc thinks its a ligament/muscle issue. On some anti inflammatories for a week. Rest and needs to lose 10 lbs! Don't we all! Thanks everyone.
